I was soloing Druffy's Bane (large creatures) on Threatening.
I noticed when I was done that I got 49,241xp
I was Arcane Warrior 18 and got 20 on completion.

If there is still a cap in place I imagine it's high enough most people don't hit it.

49,241 exp got you from 18 to 20?
That level progression sounds about right. You need 37k to go from 19 to 20; 27k to go from 18 to 19. So if you were just over '18 and a half', that is enough Exp to get you to level 20.
49k Exp sounds like a lot for a Threatening solo game, but I since I don't do this type of farming, I can't tell that is abnormal for sure.

I don't know what the cap was / is, but trying what Smurf did, I got to 30k before I got bored and killed off the dragon. On Threatening, on a PS4. I guess I could have played the Wavebend card (just experiment many different ways over to come up with the correct results) but considering I lack the gear, promotions, and characters on the PC and the game isn't good enough to grind it twice much less the first time through, I'm going back to chucking snowballs in Frozen.

I've encountered this specific "glitch" (call it what you will, it's reproducible) under the exact same conditions (Threatening, farming dragonlings). It appears that dragonlings in particular break the cap, or else the Threatening cap is approximately the same as the Perilous cap. Pretty sure there's still a cap, though.
fc map doesn't have the same cap as other maps though,
you can go slow through it with a barrier buffer and generate an awful lot of exp,
ive managed to go from lvl 1 >14 on a few chars doing that
but 99% of the time its more productive to just speed through several times in under two hours and promote,
if you get a team you can even smash it out in sub 10 minute runs and promote twice in the time it took you to mess about and farm up 2 levels on one char, well so long as the rouge you take is a newbie that does 1>100 damage per hit, otherwise your going to need a lot more games to level, same goes for perilous your cap on exp gained is largely restricted because someone will be using high end rouge and getting at least half the kills which is why those sub 10 minute runs only give half the exp.
personally I would rather speed through a different maps since you can get the time down lower especially if you have a good team that's 1 /2 shotting most stuff
Removed cap for double xp weekend a while ago and forgot to put it back on perhaps?
