Something I'd like to see for the next game would be some war table meta gags, like:

 

Have a table-stabbing scene, and if you go to the table right after the scene you can fast-travel to the weapon and find a sword stuck in the ground.

 

One of the characters gets mad and flips the table, and the next time you open the fast-travel map, the markers are scattered all over the place.

 

One of the advisers explains that a certain location is having trouble getting fresh water, so the jokey protagonist picks up their drink and moves it onto that location marker.  "There, I fixed it."

 

Someone leans over the table, casting a shadow, and then it cuts to that location.  It's dark and cloudy.

 

Stuff like that.  How much fun would that be?

Also some miniatures gaming references would be great.  One of the advisers should be into painting minis or something.  "Why is this guy all black?  Is he a ninja?"  "No, that's primer.  I haven't finished painting that unit yet."

 

Would make a great merchandise tie-in, too.

I dunno if the war table will be coming back, since that was kind of an Inquisition thing.

I like this idea

 

I wanted to contribute but I've only come up with the following:

• A sarcastic protagonist is preparing a battle plan and he/she motions to move an invisible marker. He/she says "This is our stealthy rogue infiltration unit"
• A candle falls over burning part of the table/map and then you fast travel to the same location to see that the land has been scorched by a High Dragon.

I thought this was going to be suggesting meta comments in the next game about flaws from the war table. Like how Varric in DAI is confronted about harvester Orsino and gangs jumping from the air.

The PC asking Dorian if we'll have to wait ten real world hours to complete a mission. Dorian: "Well, I thought about it, but my time magic research has allowed me to reset the internal clock to the required time."

I like the idea--the particular implementation could use some work.
