Jumping?

Personally I'd rather stick with the contextual jumping of ME3. Free jumping leads to jumping puzzles, jumping puzzles lead to suffering and thus ultimately to the dark side. Also jumping seems like it leads to the AI getting even worse at pathfinding.

The main character will have jet packs in the armor so jumping may not be needed

It really just kinda depends on how they implement it. If I can fly around with a jetpack then hell yeah. If I can make an awkward and stiff hop that would make a Belmont cringe......not so much.

Only if there are shards I have to collect on steep mountain sides that require me to make 32 successive tries at jumping my way up each time ![]()

Only if they take into account the gravity : High-pressure planets means shorter jumps and low-pressure means moonjumps.
But with no gravity at all, it may turn the situation at the worst...
It depends on the maps : if they are build to make use of jump or not.

Yes, with jumps I can convey my joy to fellow players. And, honestly, who doesn't like a conga line of bunny-hopping people?
Drop the MP bunnies in a single player game, too, in order to spice things up. That should give hardcore SP a really new perspective to exploration. You'll never know what you're gonna find out there.

In the ME3 control scheme, where would people want Jump to be?

Personally I'd use tap space bar for jump, with a context sensitive climb when held down.
Tap C for crouch and context sensitive cover grab when held down. A tap would hard break cover in case of accidental sticking.
E for sprint.

Broadly I hate jumping as its own command. Normally when I'd want to jump it's an extension of another movement (leaping from running, jumping into a climb), when that's not the case it's covering up flaws in the movement system by letting you hop around until you find purchase. It also looks silly and consumes a perfectly good button.
Jetpacking on the other hand is awesome and should be encouraged.

I think our character's jump ability will be tied into the jetpack. Like press and hold "A" and you activate your jetpack to get up on to higher objects. Let's say tap "A" and it's a basic jump.

Jets packs could be cool, jumping like was implemented in DAI... Please no, that was horrible. Or if they do, at least allow our characters to climb things.
