King Alistair also means I didn't have to choose him or Hawke. Sorry Stroud. However I have played Warden Alistair and that has a lot more meat to it than his two second cameo as King, if you have no attachment to Hawke then I recommend Warden Alistair.

I prefer King Alistair, but wished the hardened version of him had affected his DAI dialogue. DAO implies a hardened Alistair becomes a very good monarch, but in DAI he feels late to react and yet at the same time quick to judge. Plus married to Anora they are supposed to be monarchs to be reckoned with, even being "lowly" Fereldens. Oh well. Was neat to see him again never the less.
I don't marry him off so what I end up seeing is probably different, but I always attributed his tone to the fact that the world's going to pot, Ferelden is still recovering from the Blight, his neighbor is having a rather large civil war etc.
I think he's a little stressed, especially if his queen/mistess has disappeared into the ether.

When I see King Alistair I instantly feel bad for him because he may or may not hear the fake calling and he's better off in Denerim.

What a missed moment with him and fioana it seems like they took the lazy route with that story. It would have held more weight with Alistair having the mages stay in fereldan if he found out his mother was the grand enchanter

It's not a missed opportunity with him and Fiona, Fiona could tell him anytime she wanted but she does not want to. It's not like he's 3 years old and won't remember down the line. He's an adult and finding out that everyone he thought was family or close to him lied about his heritage would do more damage than good. He might even die before all the tensions would be resolved.

I don't think that is important at all,i don't like to harden him since it seem to me more like a forced way to change his personality, eventually i think that after 10 years he "hardened" by himself,no need for the Warden to do that by being so rude.
Also i don't care much about Hawke,so is not a problem at all to have him as GW,as i think that is better i f Hawke die before to do another disaster

What it is with Alistair hate on here? My Canon Is King Alistair, and I approved of his cameo. He sure acts kingly when he kicks out the mages from Redcliffe. He's also dying of the taint, all while the while missing his beloved wife (Queen Cousland). So I do feel real bad for him, with those bags under his eyes.... I understand why he's grumpy, a lot things haven't been going his way.
I'm not seeing any hate. I would never romance him ever, but I still think he's a great King. We just wish we could have seen more than what we are given, because it's not really enough to go by.

Since Grey Warden Alistair gets more screentime than King Alistair, I would have liked King Alistair to make a second appearance ...
It would have been cool, for example, if, later in the game, Alistair had visited Skyhold to discuss various important issues with our inquisitor.
Such a meeting would also have brought Alistair into contact with his former companion, Leliana. It would have been fun to see the two of them catch up, perhaps sharing a story about their time together during the Blight, or speculating about the whereabouts of their friend, the Hero of Ferelden.

What? That he kicked the mages out of Redcliffe is certainly good enough. Truth to be told, his cameo is almost exactly the same as Anora's, and yet I haven't heard anyone say that she was disappointing. What makes Alistair different? He kicked his own 'I-don't-know-that-your-my-birth mother' out of Redcliffe. He doesn't even know her, so that excuse is totally invalid.I'm not seeing any hate. What has that got to do with us wanting to see more of him as King same as we do as a GW?

I can't see a way where they could have done that were it was either forced or looked manipulative on Fiona's part.

Yeah.... But I would've loved for King Alistair to speak about my Queen Cousland (who romanced him).

I feel romanced Wardens with Alistair did get as bit cheated. I know if Leliana romanced your Warden they are living together all happy at the end of Trespasser. I think the updated entry on him talks of his Queen Cousland in Trespasser though.

He stinks as king. He's sarcastic and irresponsible regardless of whether he's hardened or not. An absolute joke. He's better off as a Warden. As are we all.
Anora was somewhat disappointing, but not nearly as bad. I'm more disappointed that she didn't have a larger role to play. I didn't even get to see her except on a non-canon run of the mages arc. My Herald sided with templars. So all I officially saw of her was what she wrote on paper or what was reported of her, and that was accurate, except for her last name of course.
