Yes, Bioware should essentially pull a "Bethesda" and not reveal any plot, location, gameplay, or character details until E3 2016. Personally I am glad that there will not be any MEA info on N7 Day. Bioware is bad for revealing too much plot/character details prior to launch.

I know it irks many that Bioware is so mute about MEA, but after the over hyping of DAI, I think it is a nice touch for Bioware to take it easy on the MEA marketing.

Thing is, Bethesda doesn't really have to market freaking Fallout 4. Bioware does have to hype its games. I doubt that the time
between E3 and release is enough for a Mass Effect game.

Should there be less marketing for MEA? No. But the marketing team needs to make sure that they ony show content complete quests/planets/whatever. I really don't want to have another Crestwood. (Though without Xbox360 and Ps3 holding the game back, that shouldn't be a problem anymore)

EA has been doing shorter marketing cycles anyways.

Witcher 3 had less pre-release coverage than Mass Effect 3 and still sold 6 million units in its first 6 weeks.

So it can be done, but it isnt Bioware's style to do so but hopefully with MEA they start.

This might be the first time I completely agree with you.

But seriously, I completely agree with you.

Sacrilege!

Honestly...they have scaled back a LOT of their PR as of late, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do at this point.

Indeed?

I did not notice since I gave up looking for Bio marketing crapola. Perhaps the studio realized that the DAI marketing was over the top, read the backlash from some quarters and made the decision to avoid hyping future Bio products.

Agree entirely. Nothing until E3 would be good.

It would be nice to get a few little tidbits but I don't think they really need to hype the game this early.  Only the diehards are paying attention.  I doubt a marketing push this early is going to make or break it.

Agreed the less they reveal the happier I am.

We know already what is important. It's a sequel, it's set in another galaxy and it will feel ME with lots of exploration and MAKO!.

You basically got what you need to understand if you will like the game or not.

Not much point in giving out details at this point. Better to let BSN feed on itself for now.

I hope that is the case.

One of the major complaints that some people have about DAI is that it wasnt anything like what we saw in the PAX 2013 stage demo. In fact, it seemed like the PAX demo had more to it than the final game.

Besides, Bioware is bad for giving away too much plot details in their marketing. Thus far, the only reason why I have lingered around is cause Bioware has been mute on MEA. Once they open their mouths about MEA, im out! I would like to come into a Bioware game not knowing the details for once.

They said no 'major info' on N7 day, but did say there'd be some 'nice surprises'. Also, when ME3 has a holiday 2011 release date, it's first proper trailer released in March. So I doubt we'll have to wait quite as long as E3 for more ME:A info.

They said no MEA related info. Any surprises we get will NOT be MEA based.

This is a good thing. Hold out on MEA detail til the end like Bethesda did for Fallout 4.

I dont need to know all the main locations and party members 5+ months prior to release like DAI, ME3, and ME2. Save something for release.

Bioware hasn't learned much from anything, since that marketing issue has been with them since the original ME1 at X06. You can Google the footage if you want - the entire gameplay worked differently, you could actively control companions, and the game had interrupts.

They're probably even more cautiously approaching stuff now, but I wager that's more an EA decision not to spend as much money marketing. Game marketing is expensive and without obvious returns past a cetain point.

I think DAI's marketing did a pretty decent job of avoiding real spoilers.

Though at the cost that they spent a lot of time highlighting the open world rather than the good part of the game.

I disagree.  BioWare doesn't want to release too much information early, and BioWare can't afford to wait to reveal information. I think N7 Day was a great opportunity to drop some juicy little nuggets of information.

But E3 2016 is another day that would be nice to show more information.

Given that the game isn't going to be out for another ~13 months, I think that it's still too early to start ramping up the hype train anyway.

Still, N7 day would have been nice to drop a few smaller things on us just to keep a minimal level of interest around in ME:A.

After what happened with DAI I'd be happy if they didn't reveal anything at all and the first glimpse of anything we see is when we have the game in our hands.

I wouldn't mind either way, but I do prefer they put their resources into actually developing the game at the moment rather than starting an early marketing campaign.

I wouldn't be surprised that EA is going to hold back on their marketing.  Being voted the worst company two years running kind'a did it for them.  Plus, they kind'a realize that the game will sell itself with the help of youtube, etc.

My $.02

EA is that bad huh? There's only two games that EA is publishing that I really care about, Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge.

Yah, like 2013 and 2012, I believe,   My own story with EA and Origin is that it hasn't been bad at all.  But for some people, man...    You even say that word EA and you'll get an ear full of vitriol.

Two problems;

1) That stage demo was closed off. We weren't supposed to see it at all.

2) showcasing a demo of gameplay is usually a problem of what is shown is still in flux. In other words; it's not confirmed to be a part of the game in the end and always subject to change.
