Hits like a freight train driving on top of a freight train!
And when paired with singularity, lash, or biotic charge, it can turn the tide of any battle...

But what about electric smash? What can it do? Does anyone use it? Is the debuff that useful? Is it really a better debuff than proxy mine, or cryo blast etc?

I took it once maybe. I like the blue stuff better I guess. Actually it's better to go all blue in all aspects and pick Asari.

4b does more damage in the longer run but it occurs as DoT. Unless the enemy has heavy armor, 30% damage upfront is probably better than a 50% DoT over 7 seconds.

I prefer the biotic smash because the idea of a tech combo on a character capable of excellent biotic combos nauseates me. Plus, it's better for biotic synergy too.

It's the other way round,
biotic does 30% damage up front.
Electric does 50% over 7.5 secs.

But does the electric effect doing more damage interrupt other primers/detonators which might cause more damage?

I know a BE does 200% damage to armour, shields and barriers
Where as tech bursts do 200% damage to shields and barriers only. But tech bursts have a larger radius.

BE doesn't have 2x multiplier vs shields. It does less damage actually.

What do you mean by electrical damage interrupting other primers?

Well I believe that the electric smash is better that the biotic one on the vanguard on many builds.

I get 433 additional damage upfront with the biotic smash wheras I get 274 per second with the electric smash, so it takes 2 secs to the electric smash to get better.

Now I believe that generally speaking tech bursts are inferior (in terms of damage) to biotic explosions, but on him biotic explosions are not optimal for pure dps : on platinum doing smash + biotic charge will result on a BE that does more or less 2000 damage, wheras adding a second smash will do another 4000 damage.

 

PS1 : all numbers are vs armor

PS2 : on the adept I have no soubt the biotic smash is better

I like the upfront damage of biotic smash, especially since I usually play with a friend and stuff doesn't tend to live 2 seconds.

Like so many things in the game, it depends.

 

If you're going to play the Ex-Cerberus Vanguard in an all-biotic group then you want Smash 4a because that will let the group chain a bunch of biotic combos together. (Ex-Cerb Vanguard + vanilla Asari Adept + Drell Adept = sh*tloads of chained combos, for example.)

 

If you're going to play the Ex-Cerberus Vanguard in a random group, or with tech characters, then Smash 4b might be better.

 

I just use Smash 4a all the time because that's how I have it spec'd and I am too lazy to re-spec.

Adept Smash: 4a (Biotic Booms a lot)

Vanguard Smash: 4b (use it as a Melee Kit. Smash and Heavy Melee through Walls does benefit more from electrical damage imo)

Probably, ... bc ... nobody had the faintest inclination, until now, to draw a race , that have a whole galaxy dancing in unison, *lower* than a homeless race living under the bridge, breathing their own **rts, and another not valuing the Krogan properly. Time to refresh zat memory on in SP again. -

... And *Any* drawing that doesn't show the full length size of asari, cannot appreciate beauty of art..

I call shenanigans on the weapons depicted - nobody uses the Vindicator and the Avenger.

 

Yes I can totally say with certainty that is what those grey blobs are supposed to be.
