I haven't used this ring much. Who has? Does it make you invisible during the entire battle? How does it work exactly?

I have it on Solas all the time right now and he's invisible most of the time, when we are running around. Last game, my mage IQ wore it and she was invisible until she started fighting. I guess it allows you to flank someone without being spotted but then once you start fighting, you aren't invisible again until the fight it over.

Really, I'm not sure of the mechanics of it.

The key benefit is that your first hit out of stealth is automatically a critical hit. So you hit, preferably with a high damage skill, move away and don't attack until stealth reactivates, repeat. Voila, every hit is a crit.

Offttsse has spent a ton of time using this ring, so he probably has a more cemented opinion than I do on this item.

But w/e, I think the item is pretty great. Any time you're not directly being attacked or are attacking, you quickly drop into stealth. The next attack you make will immediately crit.

This is really beneficial for attacks that have a wide aoe and have decent modifiers. Examples being fire mine and walking bomb. Because you auto crit on these powerful abilities, you can load up on stats like crit damage and ignore crit chance and do crazy good damage.

I think Offttsse has a video of him doing 35k on one fire mine in a flaming array. Of course it's impossible to get that high until you get the superb belt of the inferno pact, but it's still pretty impressive.

The stealth resets pretty quick btw. Essentially you never take aggro in a party and you do crazy damage. Good times.

OK the fire mine is a bit unrealible with this ring considering I am actually not sure it AUTOMATICALLY crits when you are in stealth (just as firemine does not get a bonus from flanking) and good luck practically timing it that you actually go into stealth JUST as the enemy steps on the mine: fire mine does not work that way because it has an activation delay of something like 3s so you are not in stealth anymore actually by the time fire mine can hit, even flame array has an activation delay. the 35K firemine came as a result of it being a crit and me having abut 180% crit damage bonus and having a superb inferno pact belt on against a revenant which is weak to fire. Sure I can get 35-40K flame array firemines against fire weak enemies. It does more like 20-25K with the belt on against normal mobs.

Ring of Doubt does work great with walking bomb though! Because necro got so much love with the last patch. The way the casting animation on walking bomb works most of the time is that as soon as you let the bomb fly toward your target you mostly always restealth again before it hits and if you trigger it immediately you will auto crit.

Also from test it works great with fade step and fade cloak. You restealth shortly after going into fade cloak and and if you fade step. So a basic sequence would be to cast spell x at target out of stealth (it crits). Fade step through target (restealth). Cast another spell at target (auto crit again). Works well with stone fist, walking bomb, or energy barrage that way. My favorite quick move was since I was using the deepstalker sigil in addition was to launch walking bomb at target, fade step through them into flanking position and restealth, trigger wb for extra crit and flanking damage.
