Will our ME trilogy be able to be imported into ME: Andromeda and/ or will be there a kind of "keep" like they did for DA:inquisition? The answer will determine if I get a Xbox one or a PS4. If there is going going to be kind of "keep" then I'm leaning towards a PlayStation because they have a lot of exclusives I'm really excited about and want to play.

I hope not.  I want nothing imported whatsoever.

I wouldn't go that far, but the tidbits we've been getting so far strongly indicate a tabula rasa type experience here, and I'm not sure either a direct import or a 'keep' would be worth it for maybe a few codex entries.

I'd say no, I don't think anything we did in the previous games will matter at all in the new set of games

I think it would be cool if there was some sort of Mass Effect Keep for the basic information on your Shep(sex, class, origin). I wouldn't have thought there would be a need to capture ME1-3 story choices.

I would hope if the series is going to continue post Andromeda they would use a keeplike means of maintaining the import mechanic and therefore have a keep set up for Andromeda choices.

Even though i hope and expect the Ark to have left pre ME3's ending debacle it would be nice if there was the odd customised references to Shep based on the basic information captured.

I sincerely hope Bioware references the original trilogy as little as possible, if not at all.

There won't be a direct save import since the games are on different consoles.

As for a Keep thing, that is a lot more likely. Bioware has expressed how they liked the Dragon Age Keep and are thinking of doing something similar for Mass Effect.

There are obvious problems with doing something like the keep, since the end-states of the original triolgy are so divergent that we can't actually play in such a world -- lots of us are guessing that's why we're moving to Andromeda in the first place.

Now, that doesn't mean that ME:A couldn't handle ME3 the way ME2 handled ME1 -- reduce everything to a few news bulletins and emails. Would that be a good thing?

Keep would mean there is a chance for a trilogy. Though, with all the Keep might we know nothing about continuation of DA.

I hope they start a whole new forum and don't import anyone from the old forum.

I'm with you on that one... I almost wish they hadn't called it Mass Effect Andromeda so that there would be no expectations.

Probably neither. Importing won't happen because of the console generation shift, and the whole point of changing the setting is to get away from the trilogy and it's choices.

I understand what you're meaning but they couldn't exactly create a new game within the Mass effect universe, with species from the previous games without having "Mass effect" in the title

They should call it Mass Effect: Reloaded since we're playing as a human again.

Right, because playing as a human is the entirety of the experience, isn't it?

Seems unrealistic at this point. I wouldn't mind seeing imports for this game forward though.

But those galaxy-shaping events only shaped the Milky Way, not Andromeda.

Would be infinitely better than absolutely nothing at all.

With the past Mass Effect games, we didn't get to explore the cultures of the other races much and they basically kept the females of the other races hidden. Playing as a human again just tells me that we'll be doing more Shepard stuff.

"Will the new game, which will be moved to a whole new galaxy for no other reason than to avoid having to deal with any repercussions from choices made in previous games, be able to import any choices I made in previous games?"

I'd only want the import to affect certain codex entries providing insight into history of events. Other than that, I want ME:A not to be shackled by the trilogy.

I doubt it will be in but it's possible. I'm thinking of your background choices in ME1. A few different lines of dialogue explains the background. Here a few different lines explain your end choices instead of how you are ruthless and earth born .

1. Synthesis. You are from a multi species colony that had deactivated it's relay in an attempt to slow down a reaper invasion. Plus side you didn't become reaper chow. But you avoided the green wave of doom. You're a large group of people who don't like what the galaxy turned into or systhesis isn't as pretty as portrayed and you are fleeing the Borg cult.

2. Control. Reaper Shepard goes mad with power. You are fleeing that.

3. Destroy. No ideas.

But basically they can have all the changes remain in the MW while your group is at least somewhat aware of them but avoided or running from them.

Again I doubt it, I'm not really for or against it. But things like this are possible.

Well, since this means that IT would finally be killed off for real, there is something to be said for the approach. Bio's just going to do a straight-up literalist approach if they do this at all

By "Shepard stuff" do you mean playing Mass Effect? Because "Shepard stuff" is making decisions, killing enemies and being a badass.

Hm, of course this very much depends on the setting itself (most importantly of course, when the Milky Way people leave/left for Andromeda).

If they left after the ME3 endings, a save import is crucial IMO and not having it would seriously hurt the franchise.

If they left during the reaper war (which is my guess), a save import would be nice to have but I wouldn't expect or want more from it than some details for the fans (some NPCs mentioning an event here and there, maybe a changes to Shepard's codex entry, based on it). I would not want any quest, let alone the main plot to be defined by the decisions of the previous games. THat was a hallmark of the trilogy and it's time for an overall fresh start, while still acknowledging and respecting the past of the universe. That balance is not easy and I think save import data should therefore be used sparingly and with caution. On the PC, this is not a big deal, whether or not it's worth implementing something like that on the consoles for relatively little impact, I can't really say.

Well, lastly, obviously, if the Milky Way people left for Andromeda before the trilogy, then there is no point in a save import.

So it really depends.
