I'm about to finish JOH and my inquisitor maxed at level 27(enough exp for 28) and rest of party is half way to 28. I already bought the next 2 DLC and my characters won't be gaining anymore exp right? Thanks Bioware for taking a major part of RPG purpose out of the rest of your game. I wouldn't have bought the last 2 DLC if I knew this. They initially said there would be a soft cap at 30 but I guess they changed their mind?
Level cap at 27? Why keep playing?

Not trying to sound snarky, but did you recently start playing or did you never come on here and see that?
Also if you want to unlock more skills you can Item dupe an Amulet of Power.... that way you may not level up, but you can unlock every ability for your class and spec ![]()

Personally, I don't play these games to level up. Trespasser at least is worth playing for the story.

I can feel your pain, as it's very easy to overlevel in this game. However, if you bought Trespasser, I would suggest going back to an earlier save and turning on the Take It Slow trial. I just completed the main game and Jaws of Hakkon and I'm still at Level 24.

You're not snarky. I haven't been in the formus for almost a year. I spent 250hrs on base game and then decided to take a break. Now I'm playing all 3 DLC back to back. It's not just about leveling obviously. IMO gaining levels/abilities/gear is 50% of an RPG. Other 50% story/characters. It's very disappointing knowing every quest/kill I do for next 30+hrs will gain me nothing but loot. Few people would play RPGs if this factor wasn't present. I just wanted to confirm the 27 cap and wine a bit.

Thanks for the higher numbers. I so much feel better already. I assumed people would understand what the cap represents. I have level 25 gear now. So I already know it'll never get better than 27 gear. Yes you can cheat and copy amulets but I'd rather earn a new ability. If any of you played DA:O Awakenings you'd know that getting whole new trees of skills made that incredibly fun. I'd (and all of you) have loved it if Bioware did that with DAI DLC.

In a way, I guess they did...
If you downloaded Tresspasser they do have the different ability toggles...but yeah, it is vastly different from DA:O....

Awakenings is an expansion pack whereas the DAI DLCs are not.
It takes a staggering amount of time and effort to come up with appropriate skills and to make sure they aren't too overpowered, fit within the established lore, disrupt the general feel of combat, etc.

Because there is more to a RPG than Levels and game mechanics. From other like motives such as gold and loot, or to continue for story, plot, and more RP, there are several motivations beyond those of a Lvl Up screen.
And really, beyond the mid to upper teens, there's not much point in gaining new powers anyway. Thanks to the eight button limit.
So just play and enjoy the story and characters.

On the other hand, some of the other trials will speed up your levelling quite a bit I think. Even Ground and Walk Softly, for example.

You can only map 8 spells anyway... So unless you are one of those weirdos who constantly wants to swap out your spells, then the level cap is pretty much meaningless.

I do enjoy the story, as well as the RP aspect in such a game. And while I wish we had more slots, I do enjoy 'making my spellbook' for the upcoming encounters. But more so, it is occasionally fun to play the overpowering force vs the lesser minions that made the mistake of opposing my character.

Yeah, I always play with those two on, but I don't mind. It isn't as if I care what level I am anyway. As long as I'm not bored by 19th level enemies at 23rd level, I don't much care if we're all 27th level or if we're still 24th.

1, Levels after 20 or so are pretty meaningless anyway. You should already have acquired all the skills you can possibly fit on your limited hotkey bar anyway.
2. Turn on the half exp trial for the whole game. I always used a mod that did the same before it came out. Wish that option would have been available from the beginning.
