BioWare definitely CAN do the best games,

Can they? I mean Baldur's Gate 2 is one of my favorite games of all time but to be fair most of their games after that were mostly successful due to a lack of competition in their field as opposed to them being really awesome at making games.

I have no doubt that most of your favorite games come from Bioware but you do have to ask yourself is it because of their quality or because they cater to a niche that appeals to you? I remember there was a time where it was considered blasphemy to speak of Bioware in an ill manner even when it was warranted, that said now with the rise of Kickstarter and developers like CDProjekt Red Bioware isn't the only one doing story driven RPGs any more and we can see just how far they have fallen behind, while they may still cater to the niche that is obsessed with romance and companion characters they are no longer top dog in the story driven RPG field.

Either laziness or OT was deemed not a safe space.

Regarding many of the things on that list, its not a matter of whether they are able to or can, so much as whether they are willing to devote resources to it.

I refuse believe an engine like frostbite 3 can't be made into handling things like physics on hair or support swimming in underwater environments, its if they want to do it.

Why did they do that anyways?

The only reason any company runs a forum is in the hope that the users will generate links back to the their products; say there's an Origin sale on for instance (*fnar*)... hopefully people will say good things about it and link back to it. These links are then picked up by Google (et al) and assist in boosting the site rankings.

Really, they're just hoping to leverage their user-base into free marketing for search engines.

There is, therefore, no incentive for them to pay the bandwidth costs for a forum which, by definition (being off-topic) is unlikely to generate favourable link-backs.

Complains that Bioware can't make a good game. Signs up for their forums.

Much like anyone else in the world, they CAN have moments of Mind-Blowing Awesomeness, yet they also CAN have moments of Mind-Boggling Badness.

I personally (still) think the scale's tipped to the former.  While it did take me a long time to get over the choose-your-palette-swap, kill-a-favorite-supporting-cast-by-tweet-just-to-add-U-no-Who-and-I'll-stop-there-to-avoid-a-ban, and forced-mp stuff, I also can't forget shining moments like Suicide Mission, Genophage Arc, Citadel, Champions of the Just curing me of Templar-hate, just to name a few.

I'm not complaining. I only say what I read here, on this forum. It is the fan that says that Bioware is totally and ultimately unable to make a complete and fully working game. I go on other forums and most of the fans hope that future games will be better, that the devs will erase their problems, make more features and bring fresh, new ideas. But on this forum, it look likes the fans had lost all hope, feeling that ME:A MUST be an average shooter and every bonus feature will drastically and totally lower the quality, already very low.

I wonder : Being a new fan of Bioware since the ME trilogy (never played a Baldur Gates or another BW game) I don't know what they are really able to do. If I follow most of the fans here, Bioware is a lost cause. So I was wondering WHY does the fans bash so hatefully this company?

I love Bioware because they do a great Niche, I love the companions. I like the choices and the story and their less than stellar combat is usually a plus for me. I never played Baldurs gate except the first one which I played all of 5 minutes before someone died and I was done, because I play this for the characters with the story and choice with combat thrown in between to make it fun and challenging.

They do characters really well. As does many of the old FF games, but this adds in interaction with the narrative and those things make the game for me.

Most of the people here are fan of the Bioware's games. I doubt there is anyone who hates ME or DA, maybe some might hate ME3 or DA2, but overall people here like Bioware's games.

Since people here like Bioware's games enough to talk about them in internet, they have likely also played games many times through and thus they also notice things they don't like about them. BSNers are pretty critical fans, they will notice and say it if the hair isn't up-to-par etc. Lot of people here also don't want to be overhyped about ME:A me included, sure I know that the game will be good, but I'm still sceptical about some thing and I will say that after DAI Bioware shouldn't do open world again with ME:A. Actually there is interview from Gaider where he said that open world made it harder for writers to make good story, but I'll edit and quote it later. I guess that means that some of the developers did find some same faults in the game than BSNers overall.

I guess this means that although BSNers can be very critical about Bioware and their games it doesn't mean that they dislike the games, they usually love them. That's something that Bioware should also remember.

On the topic of toxity with DAI.. well lot of that was about technical issues with the game and how Bioware handled or didn't handle them. I don't think Bioware was ready to release DAI when they did and weren't ready for the problems different versions of game had either. Nor they were ready to answer to large amount of people who had those problems.

Then on the topic of what Bioware can do (though this is all my opinion):

- Bioware CAN do interesting alien races.

- Bioware CAN do good characters.

- Bioware CAN do entertaining banter between characters.

- Bioware CAN do emotional games.

- Bioware CAN do good lore.

It's because you're taking every person's different negative opinion and putting them together to form a single group opinion.

Person A hates feature X.

Person B hates feature Y.

Person C hates feature Z.

That doesn't mean that Group ABC hates features X, Y and Z. Person A might love feature X. Hell, if feature X is the inclusion of swords they're probably arguing over it right now. This forum has a large population so it's not hard to find someone who thinks BioWare did any given thing poorly, and you can throw in a few DLC conspiracy theories for good measure.

...

The hair does need work though.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Well. I was going to say the same thing but you beat me to the punch.

We all want something different.

You can't please us all.

We all have different criticism.
