Curious the best way to do this. Can I just transfer the files? or do I need to do an export/import?

Either should work just fine, but the export/import of the area should include all the incidental files like scripts/conversations etc that you might forget when doing things manually. Doing it manually of course I've never forgotten stuff (cough cough)...
