Difficulty mod for balance/lore

Essentially what I (think) I want to do is combine the offensive effectiveness of my squad and the defensive vulnerability of enemies from Casual, with the offensive effectiveness of enemies and defensive vulnerability of my squad from Insanity. 

 

Make sense? 

 

Short version: I want to drop enemies fast, but be at the risk of getting taken down just as quickly. (skip to the bottom if you don't want to hear my rambling about why I want this)

 

The reason for this is that looking through other ME stories (comics, novels, Codex entries even) it seems weaponry is very strong, and it's a high stakes offensive maneuver vs. defensive positioning game - and that furthermore either side of a skirmish is at risk of being taken out quickly if exposed. 

 

What frustrates me about the default difficulty settings is that the spectrum of offensive/defensive prowess is polarized across the board, for both enemies and Shepard/squadmates. Basically: you get weaker as enemies get stronger (Insanity), or get stronger as enemies get weaker (Casual). It would seem natural that Normal and Hardcore would be the balance I'm talking about, but it isn't. Both sides simply get toned down offensively and averaged out defensively. 

 

I'd like it so both sides are incredibly powerful offensively, and highly vulnerable defensively, making cover and one or two quick flanks essential to winning a firefight. I'd also like certain tweaks that I've seen in other threads like powers not being affected by shields, but to balance that out, enemy shields recharging the way player shields do. 

 

If possible, I'd also like lots of medi-gel to be available, but no health regeneration, or extremely slow regen (also mentioned in other threads). 

 

Also some changes to squadmate loadouts, like Jacob having an AR (again, stealing/borrowing from others).

From what I understand, this should be possible by editing the coalesced.ini but I've never done anything with that before. This was in another thread which was quite helpful:

So basically combing the Enemy Power Cooldown from Insanity and the Squad Power Cooldown from Casual, rinse/repeat for health, etc. Is something like this already out there? I searched the Googles and did not find. Thoughts?

Not that anyone asked (lol) but I tinkered around with coalesced.ini and got this to about where I would want it. Been testing it through some of the loyalty missions and Thane's recruitment mission.

 

It definitely ranges on the easier side, but I think of it more as a fix for Casual than a replacement for the other modes. For people who want just the story, but find that Casual actually breaks the immersion because of how invincible you are, this will at least require you to use cover and flanking effectively along with powers but still drop enemies easily. Personally, I like it. I'll try and post my coalesced.ini later on.
