This will not affect new players from getting stronger because promotions aren't correlated with challenge points. Yes, it will take longer to prestige and make a mark on the leaderboards, but most of us who have been playing this have known the numbers have been skewed by exploits and players migrating over from last gen consoles.

Case in point, the number 1 xbone player who ported has over 400 points than the 2nd ranked player. I'm willing to bet most of those points were directly/indirectly completing challenges that weren't available on the 360 since support stopped months ago for it. Imo, this hurts the players like Michael, and Death the most who have been playing damp on xbone since close to the beginning since it was somewhat of a decent measure of their consistency and commitment.

Those were literally the last remaining original players of damp, and sadly and I would not be surprised if they decided to move on, since bioware is close to abandoning this game. Imo, they should of never included and factored challenge points into leader board placings. If they actually had any foresight they would of used challenges and competions for other things like high lvl gear, crafting unlocks, armors, things that would improve a player but it seems that would be somewhat logical and reasonable.

Newbies, shouldn't feel dejected that they are starting so late because you have access to a wealth of knowledge on this board and the game has improved quite a bit.

For new players this means that there is actually no reason to start playing DAIMP.  I now try to explain what I mean : if you don't play DAIMP casually but you want to reach a goal, the only one is being in the top 100 players. So you want to start gaining points but without new events, you won't be able to reach the people that already are in the top list. After completing the "standard" challenges, the only way to gain points is through promotion. But even here, new players are still unfairly incapacited to make a lot of points since the "promotion bug" has been patched (and abused by the first positions players).
So, why should I play this game anymore? 

I bought the GOTY edition and loved the Multiplayer. I find that Bioware is really doing it wrong with new player like me and, after all, I paid as much as an "old" (because a year old game is not that old) player.
 

 

I think you are assuming that people play this game only to try and get on the leaderboards.

 

I play the game because it is fun. I care not about being on the leaderboards, nor who is or who is not on the leaderboards. I also don't care about the prestige level other than a litmus to gauge how much my friends play.

As long as they keep the servers/matchmaking going and I am still having fun, I will still play the game.

Complete bull. The goal could easily be "Do Nightmare" or "Get all Hakkons" or "Get 80% resists." Or beyond. When I started playing I didn't even know or care about the "leaderboards" as they're monumentally pointless anyway.
