I never said that they aren't making the games they want, I said they can make the games they want without worrying if it will offended somebody or incite a PR shitestorm. Bethesda has been making whatever they wanted since their inception, these past few years haven't opened up any options for them.

So, again, you want to go back to the days where developers aren't criticized for ignoring and/or offending the majority of the people on the planet in favor of the white male hetero group? That's what you are advocating? No criticism of developers?

Assassin's Creed Unity and The Witcher 3 to name a couple.

No, that is not what I meant. By normal I meant when developers could make the game they want, without worrying if their game would incite the wrath of the 'offended' and the twitter lynch squad. Also, making incredibly stupid and disrespectful assumption just makes you look pathetic.

What happened with The Witcher 3? I must have missed something because I saw nothing but praise for that game.

I can't wait for the SJW to ruin Persona 5. Their misconception with Naoto back in P4 is still amusing.

Persona 5 is a Japanese game, those SJW's you worry about have no power there. Just look at the hilarious boob jiggle controversy with SFV, Japan don't give a ****.

Where are you getting the idea that they aren't making the games they want? Where in the world did this silly trope come from that including women, people of color and LGBQT is something that developers don't want to do? Perhaps, the developers that are being inclusive are ecstatic that society is finally ready for stories about people other than some white guy. I haven't read of any developers saying that they are unhappy with the wide range of stories they can now tell. Think of all the artistic options that have finally opened up for them! Bioware and Bethesda certainly seem happy with the options available!

This is the gaming industry, a game could be full of nothing but gay characters and the story would STILL be generic as ****.

Everything and everyone is subject to humor.

That it is true. But what's also true is that some things just aren't and never are all that funny.

The fact that this thread is even going shows there is an issue.

Do you really want to stake your ground on the premise that the moment anyone makes a thread complaining about something that means that there's an issue?

Have you considered the broader ramifications of that statement?

When did I say that? Really, why are you looking for malice where this is none? I never once said so game developers can be free of criticism, I'd just prefer if they could make anything they wanted without every sensitive ****** on twitter, ganging up on them and bullying them for the smallest of things.

People were mad that a game that is basically Poland thrown into a fantasy world, didn't have any Black characters.

There's a difference between "this offends me" and "this offends me, so it shouldn't be allowed to exist, and if I don't approve of something then no one else should be able to enjoy it." Also, when did the relatively small (but extremely vocal) progressive crowd turn into "the majority of people on the planet" ? Believe it or not, most people don't get offended by every little thing.

Honestly, your posts are coming across less as "I want more women in games" and more as "I want less straight white men in games."

Phew. Almost had a heart attack.

Sorry... I shouldn't drink wine at dinner (but it was quite good)

If I remember correctly, the autors or Remember Me had difficult find a publisher because of the female protagonist. And for many games happened that the protagonist had been changed from female to male to adeguate the game to the publisher desire.

I think a different kind of protagonist (be it female, male, dark skinned, LGBT or any other different characterization) from the "normative" dark haired with stubble straight guy who have a lot of success with women is a sign of more freedom in creating characters in games, and not "forcing" of pandering.

Look back on your posts. You've said that you don't want developers to be 'lynched' if they don't include women, gays, etc. and characterize the inclusion of these people as a 'small' issue. On one hand you say they can be criticized but then turn around and characterize any criticism as bullying and lynching and the like. Either developers can be criticized or not. You aren't being very consistent with your posts. Not sure what I'm supposed to make of that. :pinched:

That's good, nice of Dontnod to have a spine and stand by their creations. Shame that the game didn't move many units, a sequel with more open-ended environments and smoother navigation would've done wonders for the game.

That's not what they meant at all, what they meant is that companies should not be forced to add token character of groups just to satisfy people. If a black character is added, they should have a purpose, the purpose should not be to satisfy people. Same with any other group. This is what happen with TW3 that had SJW and people who didn't understand the lore complain there was no "black character" which would have made no sense in the confines of what TW3 was doing.

Which has been more than rectified in the expansion.

Not that anything needed to be rectified, but now that TW3 has multiple prominent characters of color in it, there really isn't anything that the PC crew can complain about anymore with regards to TW3.

The discussions about female leads in games always makes me chuckle because male gamers have never had an issue playing as female characters, just look at MMO's and games like Skyrim and see the abundance of guys who have female avatars. One of the obvious reasons for this is due to the physical attraction, female characters in games are very rarely, if ever, ugly, and you've probably heard some guys say in relation to Femshep that if they're going to spend over 100 hours looking at their characters ass then they might as well play as a woman lol. In the case of Bethesda games the ability to mod the game guarantees that many dudes will play as women, I think we all know why :P

On the case of gay characters in games, have you ever released how the vast majority of gay characters who show up in video games tend to be lesbians? There's a very obvious reason for that as well. :P

And the best part is it made sense. it did not feel like a token character which would have been the case if this was done in base game.

Even then, TW1 had Azar.

Actually, they have already made the entire script of Remember Me 2. But preferred to work, at least for now, on Life is Strange.

Haha, good one. You know how these people operate, they will find something else to take issue with.

Let's do some math.

Women: 50% of the people on the planet

LGBQT: 10% of people on the planet

People of color: 84% of people on the planet

Simple math tells me that the group that identifies as white, hetero males are not the majority of the world's population; and, yet, developers disproportionately cater to this group.

As to the rest, I've never said that I don't want straight white males in the games. So, I really have nowhere to go with that statement.

Like Mr.House said, that's not what I meant. Also are you really comparing the amount garbage thrown at developers for not appeasing to minorities to actual criticism?

Well, the majority of developers are STRAIGHT WHITE MALES, you can't hate them for putting themselves in their games.
