First of all, yes. Second, they could market Fallout 4 with CGI penguins humping in the desert and it would sell like hotcakes. Mass Effect doesn't have that luxury. Fallout is in the top tier of game franchises. Mass Effect can't even dream of reaching those heights. Especially not when the next installment is a soft reboot of the series that's following one of the most controversial and mocked games ever.

What does that have to do with trailers though?

Probably something about resources, time, xanadu  or etc.

Doubt they'd go full Ubisoft. They were given such a huge dose of social justice for that they now scream "LOOK HOW INCLUSIVE WE ARE!" every time you boot the game up.

What do you think trailers are for? They're marketing material, designed to engage an audience and compel them to buy the game.

Yes and for games like these one of the main things to do is to show that you can choose what kind of character you can play

EA's probably stingy with the pr money because of the potential return in investments. No matter how Bio harps on about inclusiveness if it doesn't make EA money, well we know how EA treats it's studios.

No it isn't. That's an RPG feature and RPG players already know exactly what Mass Effect is.

Didn't BioWare make special FemShep trailers for ME3 because the nerds on here wouldn't shut up about it?

I'm glad that Bethesda are using voiced protags, and that they're (allegedly) giving more attention to story and character relationships than ever before.

It'd be quite ironic if Fallout 4 turns out to have a better story than Inquisition, whilst BioWare have been trying so hard to imitate Bethesda of old. lol

Yeah, I'm not betting on that. Bethesda do try since Skyrim, but unless things have undergone a significant change in their offices they simply don't have the writing chops to do anything special. At best hope for a robot vs humans storyline.

Yes. They also put her on the front of the cover, but none of it was good enough. The femShep trailer was only used online and the femShep cover was on the reversed side, so you had to manually flip it around after you opened the case. Apparently getting what you demanded is only good enough if everyone knows babby got their way.

RPG players don't need to be marketed to?

Well that certainly explains a few things...

Same guy who wrote FO3 is writing for FO4, so there's that and judging by that trailer, they haven't really improved.

You do realize that there are RPG's with set characters (The Witcher for example) along with the fact that trailers also try to bring in new players to the game

RPGs are a niche. There aren't many AAA RPGs these days. There are basically no other AAA sci-fi RPGs. RPG players know what Mass Effect is all about because they have very few options. The marketing for ME:A needs to be exciting to get the shooter players, not informative of gender selection to get the RPG players who will already be buying it.

Hardcore neckbeards will just pirate everything so you may as well go in a more shootbang direction for the casuals since there's a chance they might actually buy the game.

Well if he is a fan of Blade Runner the writing could actually be interesting :D But yeah Emil is still lead writer.

So you know about all the major RPG franchises, obviously. You proved my point. RPG players are always on top of the AAA RPG niche.

Because obviously they make trailers just for us who already knows about the game and is most likely already planning on buying it

Fine.

Mass Effect 3's opening was very strong so people were obviously not bothered by ME2 going in the more shootbang direction.
