All a blank state increase is my boredom. Actually the more a character is fleshed out, the more I am willing to play more than once.
I don't find the NPCs in these games interesting at all. Having the writers flesh out the protagonist effectively turns him into an NPC.
This is why I was wholly indifferent the Shepard's welfare.

And if you bothered to actually read a bit further you would see why. Rape has a very singular definition, a women attacking a man would get charged with (for example ) sexual coercion or assault, or assault by penetration.

I like being open to female characters personally, but once everything gets political or seems forced, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I was fine on my own.
I can only imagine what some males feel like, who aren't quite as open. Or when they read articles like "Gamers are over" (http://www.gamasutra...rs_are_over.php), I can understand why they lash back and get defensive. They're not going to be won over this way...by being called irrelevant and pathetic.
And now even when you do something innocent, like a Femshep trailer, they get pissed at that too. Because bridges were already burned between the two sides.
The femshep trailer was such a waste money, considering that only 18% played as her and only a vocal minority of forum based loud mouthed agitators campaigned for it to begin with.
I remember there also being some voting contest for ME3 femshep's default appearance(another worthless marketing stunt), and them whining about how the one picked was blonde(usual left wing knee jerk hate against white ppl),so the solution was..... to make femshep have a hair color that's even more rare and exclusive among white people, lol.
If it wasn't for the fact that the same philosophy that drives these people has lead to people's livelihoods being ruined over thought crimes or their lives in general from false rape hysteria out of some bizarre belief that the west is akin to the congo or south africa in terms of rape rates, this would be pure comedy.

And I can't say for others, but my mother is a pretty nice person. That does not stop me from having some pretty negative views on certain women out there, however.
