Yes, I was very glad to see the female player character in the trailer. VERY glad.
*Bites knuckles*

People will be wearing that vault suit the entire game.
Because obviously they make trailers just for us who already knows about the game and is most likely already planning on buying it
Why do people care if other people are going to buy the game though? Your concern should begin and end with whether you're going to get the game or not.
Ah yes "We want Call of Duty's crowd"
How's that working out so far?

Get over one of the best movies ever made? Why?
Same guy who wrote FO3 is writing for FO4, so there's that and judging by that trailer, they haven't really improved.
To be absolutely fair, they rarely choose the deep and/or spoilery lines to put in trailers. Bioware and CDPR usually have some rather hum-dum lines in trailers while the interesting meat is hidden in the game proper. Same for Obsidian and New Vegas.
But yeah, beyond trying to do some sort of faux Blade Runner story mixed with Minutemen for some reason, I'm not sure what they are gunning for. I am keeping my expectations low, I may then be positively surprised. I mean, Fallout usually doesn't have an overly grounded story, but I have no idea why in the blazes would anyone in the Wasteland care about android rights of all things.
I may also begin by making a female protagonist this time. For... practical purposes.
What? Courtenay Taylor has a great voice, while the male SS sounds a bit boring. I'm totally only interested in that, Yeah.

Until they find another outfit that "fits" ![]()

It has nothing to do with whether or not we care, it's what trailers are suppose to do
...that's my point. They need to market to the people who aren't familiar with the series. Meaning non-RPG players. Hurr.
So show off that you can play as a male or female in trailers then? Got it ![]()
No it isn't. That's an RPG feature and RPG players already know exactly what Mass Effect is.
No it isn't, lots of non RPG games have gender selection, even some racing games, or friggin' COD.
The job of the marketing is to inform what the game is about, if the game has gender selection, the marketing should reflect that.
that feel when you want to play a male Sole Survivor first but don't want da booty to die

Me personally i want the trailers to show what's actually in the game despite Google being a thing. If the character can rob, kill, drive, sleep, eat, be male or female then show me the possibilities. I hate seeing games that are overlooked because of franchise/IP killing poor pr marketing.

I don't think as many people as you think care for gender selection. For me it's least important think.

I usually play males, but not likely here.
If I can do it....

So why do people keep making threads about it then? Trailers are supposed to market to the uninformed who aren't already getting the game right? Nobody on the BSN fits that category, yet this is the second thread on this topic i've seen on this just in the last week. One of the longest running threads in the DA forums was about female representation in trailers. Why is everyone whining about it if the trailers arent for them anyway?

We're going to make a female character because she'll have a great... plot. Especially with that vault suit on.
Lovely, form fitting plot.
Wait someone thought you can't play as female in Fallout? And need to explain you can?

So the game is about gender selection?
No, but you can select gender in it. Look the trailer had a nice representation of both the male and female protag and it worked. Bioware has always been pro this, so why can't they manage the same? Why do they make seperate trailers, when they could make one that accomplishes what two trailers could do. I am tired and it sounded alot better in my head. Also abit dizzy after looking at that booty.
Wait someone thought you can't play as female in Fallout?
Actually before E3 people did actually think that. Because the reveal trailer only had a man in it, and he was voiced! How could they possibly have two voiced protags!?!?!?!?!? Nevermind that Bethesda has had female PC's in their games since Arena.

Honestly though, the fem will be better just for her raspy voice. I can already tell she'll come off more as a badass than the guy in this game.

It also didn't help that one of the "leaks" which got a number of other details right claimed that it would be male only.
I honestly like the sound of both voice actors a lot. Dude has one of those 'could entertainingly read a phonebook' voices and female is Jack.

I usually play as female characters in RPGs just because I tend to like playing as somebody different than my real life self. I'll almost always pick a non Human if given the choice too.
The fact that it's voiced by Courtenay Taylor is just a bonus.
As much as there will be comments about "dat booty", I play the game in first person 90% of the time anyway.
