I want to test out a Templar for my faithful human warrior but the fact that it pretty much leads to my Inquisitior getting Lyrium addiction really it. Likewise Cassandra's warning about Reaver's becoming scale beasts really kills any desires to play as such. From a roleplaying perspective it seems like Champion's the only one that won't screw my character down the line.

"It's good to be a Champion."

(Sorry couldn't resist, but yeah reaver and Templar have huge drawbacks.)

It's to make up for the lack of blood mages, instead 2 out of 3 warriors are blood drinking loons. Champion does however rock, especially if you're of a tanky disposition.

I actually wait to talk to Ser until after I've had the lyrium talk with Cullen because that does factor into my character's RP. He's a Trevelyan and was supposed to become a templar, but stuff intervened. So once he gets into the Inquisition he does consider going down that path because it's useful in the current circumstances, but he doesn't because of various factors, including the lyrium addiction.

My Warrior Trev became a Templar. I had no regrets.

I'm not inclined to believe Cass's tales of her ancestor reavers growing scales, etc. From what she said, it implies that the drinking of dragon blood is as addictive as lyrium if there is no control and if the person desires more and more power. I always go for reaver for my 2h warrior since the Inq is unlikely to go overboard.

To me Cass's warning wasn't that dragon blood was addictive like lyrium but that the more you drink the stronger you get, which leads to all those bad side effects. It's like blood magic "you always need more power."

I know your pain, kind of? I mainly play rogues, and Artificer and Tempest seem... strange. Assassin FTW!

...Ok, maybe I don't know your pain. But I will soon. I started a warrior, but the most painful part is battle in general. ... I'll show myself out now.

Of course, it won't happen. Bioware wouldn't be that in depth with any consequences to anything negative. It's just there to flavor the spec.

See, I think the fact that a Reaver can become a scale beast makes it a bit more interesting.

But I agree, Champion is the best Warrior specialization.

Artificer is more suited to a ranged rogue, although Tempest is 50/50

I won't ever be a Necromancer, Templar, or Reaver because all of them lead to bad things or are just plain gross.

What does the Necromancer lead to? I missed a codex. I knew about the Templar and Reaver.

Dead people running around and fighting for you. That's a handy thing except that they are dead people.

I'd hate to fight next to that, let alone be one.

I have standards. I can't even be around someone farting next to me.

You're a warrior. You take hits for a living and keep going. If you wanna RP, I think your character needs to toughen up and learn to live with the addiction as another source of pain you have to overcome. That's what warriors do. Templars are only suppose to drink lyrium when they are fighting magic, they aren't suppose to binge like the Chantry makes them and Reavers well, King Calenhad turned out alright.

Yes, only for a short time. You can make it shorter by having Dorian use the spell again, while they are running around and it's like you killed them a second time. Poor things.

Actually, if they stayed alive a really long time, you could have your own little group of best friends who follow you everywhere you go.

Warriors generally don't embrace addiction. What do you mean?

My most pathetic addictive state was also my weakest point in life.

Okay that was disturbing. I never played that specialization. It sounds like the corpse is alive for more than just a few seconds.

No thanks. I never played that mage type. Love the rogue builds. I just watch the video above. Cass's story about her Uncle was way too creepy. He read to corpses.
