Shield bash

Walking fortress

Livid

Payback strike

The best build for non-Promotion lords and players who like to play public matches.

I run with shield bash, walking fortress, war cry and then the 4th is whatever I feel like.

Shield bash is really fun for me, one of my favorite abilities in the game due to its audio sound and animation, as well as versatility and damage. I like to shield bash while at the top of stairs and it vaults you forward a good ways (ambush for Izzy does this too).

War cry provides good support xp and agro management without having to invest as many points as Counterstrike. It provides decent guard and a huge armor bonus

Walking fortress is self-explanatory; its invincibility.

4th spot varies

he's still my beautiful, survivable, badass.  Corbin til the day I die.

Edit to add:  Counterstrike, Walking Fortress, and (at least) flow of battle.

As soon as I saw this thread title I knew ParthianShot would be in here like a pitbull on a pork chop.  She has a bit of an unhealthy obsession with deep roads veterans.

I am having a lot of fun with the Lego since I started reading this thread.  I am about to try out TTD for the first time.  I am a little scare to be honest. :P  On paper it just sounded like a horrible skill.   It is kind of like a few of the weapons that gives Berserk with 50% increase damage and 50% increase damage taken.

I am hoping it will help me take down bosses when my whole team dies.   A few times I have to give up because it just take too long to take down the DS boss when he kept putting the barrier back up to full.

To The Death is great!  I love how you compare it to the Berserk weapons, because if 50% extra damage taken and dealt sounds bad to you, I would love to hear what you think about how Berserk used to be.

I remember one time, wayyyyy back in the day when Caltrops were terrible (like, you were lucky if they hit for more than 20 damage terrible), I hit the Red Templar Commander with To The Death and kited him while my whole team killed everything else.  When they came back, we had the Archer drop Caltrops on him.  He would transition to the next stage after 4 or 5 damage ticks.  He died from Caltrops in less than half a minute.  From then on, To The Death has always had a special place in my heart.

Every time my char says "Blackwall would have love to be here..." when we found sites of the Warden.. I feel kind of bad. :P  But I just can't take him along.. since I am running an all girls party. ;)

I'm embarrassed to say that I almost never took ttd for my lego, even though others really are keen on it.

I must be a hipster for not taking Walking Fortress or Counterstrike, but I go War Cry, Livid, Shield Bash, Shield Wall.

Find a group, War Cry to get your Guard up and get the enemies in melee range, Livid to get your damage and resistance up, Shield Bash to knock them all down and deal **** load of AOE damage, finish up by attack-cancelling with Shield Wall. Repeat as necessary. Careful, War Cry has a 8 meters radius (same as the Virtuoso circle you see when you play him) so you need to be "close" before using it.

Worth noting that attack cancelling with Shield Wall is much slower than regular attack cancelling because of the shield raise animation, and annoyingly noisy :)

I prefer to use To The Death on the Katari.  The Legionnaire has far too many other good abilites.  I think I used it for maybe 2 or 3 promotions on him.

Wait what?!?!

I get noticeably better results by attack cancelling with Shield Wall. Attack cancelling with "run" is at least 50% slower AND make your character move sluggish. Shield Wall is almost instantaneous for me while not affecting my character movements.

Is there any other method to attack cancel that I don't know about? What system are you playing on?

For reference, I'm on PC and I use a button on my mouse to "press" 4 (hotkey for Shield Wall in my case).

Shield Wall cancelling doesn't work well on console.  I don't know why, but the exact opposite from what you said is true for us peasants.

its peripheral dependant, I use a g19 kb and a g502 mouse, for me its 3 x faster to use the l-shift key for attack cancelling than it is to tap shield wall, perhaps I would find it better if I used a mouse key as the button push but that would mean getting a new mouse with more buttons and this one cost enough /

How do you do attack cancelling?  Hit the attack button until it hits enemy and hit the Shield or Shift key to cancel animation for the follow thru swing?   I tried that and it doesn't seem to save much time or increase damage....  just seem to increase the chance of I getting carpal tunnel :P

for auto attacks hold down left and right mouse buttons then tap the l-shift key as the attack swing is half way towards the mob, rinse and repeat, for skills you have to wait until its at least half way through the animation and hit a second skill key, pretty much the same as it worked in me3, except there it was reload cancelling which I found you could do really well with melee attack on one keyboard but only hitting one of the packs would do it for another /

I guess if the number 4 key was mapped to the left shift key it would work just as well to use shield wall, but being old school i'm used to the majority of games requiring constant use of the left shift key some to run faster some to attack animation cancel some to actually shoot with (horrible button layout) but as with most things its only more recent games that allow you to remap keys for online play, sure most let you remap the push to talk key but very few let you remap other stuff /

I build my legos into houses, cars, boats, robots, space ships, a city. Really whatever my imagination feels like that day. Some days I just make a box to hold the rest of the legos.
