Hi all! So this thread is about estimating the PC system requirements for Andromeda. Since there is no actual or official release info yet let's try to do a rough estimate

a week ago my PC was running on an intel pentium dual core e2180 with 3gb of ddr2 ram and 1tb of HDD space.

On November 2 I upgraded to an intel core i7 3770k, MsiZ77MAG45 board, 12gb of ram 1 is Hyper x fury 8gb ddr3 clocked at 1600mhz the other is team elite 4gb clocked at 1333mhz... now I know what you think this is a ram mismatch but in all honesty I never ever seen any difference with dual channel and single channel anyway. The Hyperx has been downclocked to 1333mhz to match the Elite ram and yes it is running on single channel... the bright side is that playing games like BF4 is now 3 times faster booting up compared to the single 8gb stick at 1600mhz dual channel I must say. Moving on to my PSU I have a corsair VS650 and last but not least 2tb of HDD space

the most important component the GPU, is not yet available for me since I am currently saving up for a GTX 960 now I know the amd equivalent is the 300 series but I am more comfortable with Nvidia anyway. I am on a heavy budget now since I made some major upgrades and bargains.

[It is dusty right now and I am going to do some cleaning later, the current gpu is a placeholder gt630]

 FOR THE FUN PART:

My estimates for Andromeda would be... a 3rd to current gen i5 or amd FX 6 core series to the top end of cpus. For the ram I think atleast 12gb is needed for optimal gameplay? as for VRAM ohhh here is a problem since Arkham Knight... alteast 4GB of VRAM for ultra high res textures. My estimate for the installation file would be somewhere between 40 - 75gb.

Thoughts?

additional info:

I believe Andromeda will be using the Frostbite engine which should be well optimized.

I think the devs have said in the past that the system requirements for DAI should be a good indicator as to the system requirements for MEA, since they both run on the same engine. Obviously, we have to keep into account that two years will have elapsed between DAI and MEA's releases.

Based off that, I would probably expect something like this for the recommended system specs:

  • OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz; Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz
  • System RAM: 8 GB
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
  • Graphics Memory: 4 GB
  • Hard Drive: 50 GB
  • DirectX: 11

Hmm... let's see.

ME:A is a console game first and a port to the PC after. The N7 giveaway of two custom built consoles with the N7 logos confirms my analysis.

Now, the Xbone 1 specs is 8GB + 500GB HDD + 8 CPU cores. This, is Bio's baseline. To max sales, the game must meet the Lowest Common Denominator.  I'm curreently ignoring Microsoft's Cloud Computing services for ME:A. Also, the Xbone 1 allows for an external Hard Drive to be connected so a game can be installed in one. It's an extra cost if a gamer is forced to use one and ought to be a mitigating factor in the game's design.

Storage space requirement of a min of 40GB is extreme. Here, I'm thinking of the numerous DA:I problems where many "repair" activities required the re-downloading of the game. For me, that's half of my total monthly cap.  A potential problem for sure, especially if storage space is higher. On the other hand, some Bio dev mentioned the game is BIG when he downloaded it to his computer from the main server. So, who knows?

Both consoles have AMD's heavily customed GPUs. An Nvidia GPU may not be the brightest move, given the many GTX problems with DA:I. My low end Radeon GPU (5 years old) the 7770 plays DA:I very well with custom settings. Since PC sales have tanked during the past three years,  CPU performance requirements should be tempered (ie: kept in check to 3yr old specs). Of course, with a PC, the sky is the limit.

CPU wise, anything that plays DA:I well will be sufficient, unless the game settings are maxed out.

hmmm sounds about right. Let's hope Andromeda would get better textures and fidelity when it gets ported to PC similar on how CD Projekt Red obviously upped the detail after launch

I've found that DA:I plays tolerably well on a rig a good deal below min spec. Of course, that's "tolerably well" for a game where you're not going to get killed by low framerate, which won't be the case in ME:A. Still, Frostbite seems to scale down nicely.

I hope they make the PC version look better too. I don´t want to be handicapped because of those crappy consoles.

But I have a good feeling since they gave ME3 High Res Textures.

And if they don´t well there is the mod community and TexMod :-)

Systeme configuration will be near of dragon age inquisition so

Recommended:
  • OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD six-core CPU @ 3.2 GHz, Intel quad-core CPU @ 3.0 GHz
  • System RAM: 8 GB
  • Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
  • Graphics memory: 3 GB
  • Hard drive: 26 GB
  • DirectX 11
Minimum:
  • OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD quad-core CPU @ 2.5 GHz, Intel quad-core CPU @ 2.0 GHz
  • System RAM: 4 GB
  • Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 4870, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
  • Graphics memory: 512 MB
  • Hard drive: 26 GB
  • DirectX 10

Perhaps only a little higher but i don't think so my old gtx 780 will do the job tpo play it on medium

Let's not start a flame war here... but yes I hope they release Andromeda with sharper textures and most importantly TESSELLATION make it happen BioWare

No doubt "enthusiast" or higher rigs will benefit from more detailed textures. ;)

My personal problem with the min configuration (see DA:I hair styles and Mario Mustaches) is the potential of poor hair styles... the bane of many video games. So far, Bio has shown to be weak in this area (DA:I).

One thing that is missing is the target FPS.  Not much the console users can do about it but in the PC arena, 60FPS is more than an acceptable target level. Unfortunately higher resolution textures can negatively impact this goal inclcuding 4k resolution.   Hopefully the Zen CPU will be available along with AM4 motherboards before game launch date. :)

it say it a while ago  electronic art is a diesel machine  when they begin to show we will have all we want and more i think the show will begin at e3  after it or in it we will have the sys requ for mass effect andromeda but it not a race of graphical compare witcher 3 to fall out 4 and see so mass effect androemda will be a fine mass  effect with inquisition graphic . the game in the same genre with next generation graphic will be cyberpunk  but 2017  until then let finish mass effect and other game :)

We're probably talking Q1 2017 - so I'm guessing Windows 10 with DX12 will be in the recommended specs.

Read an article last week that Win 10 arrived with an update to the XB1. Also, my Origins client required an update to support DX12 in-game overlay.

Question:  Whay do you believe 1st Q, 2017?

Far too much for my Potato, but that won't stop me from hosting and making all of your lives hell in the MP mode.

Well I for one hope they don't make the system requirements so demanding that everyone, except power gamers, have to get new machines.  My current machine can handle ME3 nicely.  It would be nice if it could handle Andromeda on decent settings.

For PC users only.

There are articles that mention Microsoft's DirectX 12 API will only be supported with the Xbone 1 and Windows 10.

So, if anyone was thinking of buying DirectX 12 GPU capable hardware to install on a Win 7 system and use the API, sorry, that's a no go. The GPU hardware will be backward compatible, however ( I don't see why it would not do so).

Personally, I plan a dual boot system. Also thinking of a three boot system,.. (ie: Linux, Win7 and Win10). In any case, I'm not planning to upgrade my hardware, as I can run most games coming out in 2016.

Bio may code ME:A to support DX12 for the Xbone console... no surprise there but I'm sure the game studio will also code to support DX11 for PCs with Win 7 (after all, these PCs have about 50% of the market).

Bottom line is that what works for DA:I should work for ME:A.

Probably akin to Star Wars Battlefront. Other than my 960 w/ 4 GB of VRAM my parts are a couple of years old (i5 processor and such) and I managed to run that game really well.

At least I hope it's like that. Inquisition ran terribly on the other hand.

I5 and a GTX 970 will make ME A work normal

and a I7 and GTX 980 will make ME A work superv.

I still doubt ME A will be a DX12 exclusive.

They should release a "tentative system specs" on April 1st with some outlandish requirements.
