As a reminder, here are the recommended specs for PC users for DA:I taken directly from the DA:I website:

Recommended:

OS

Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit (As you can see they included Windows 8.1 in the recommended specs)

CPU

AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz

Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz (This would be like a 3xxx series i5)

System RAM

8 GB (I don't see this number changing much for games released within the next year or so)

Graphics CARD

AMD Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270 (could probably get this for about $150 for that or equivilant like the 370)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (You'd be better off going with a 750 Ti or something like that)

Graphics Memory

2 GB (I've seen this game go well past this mark at max settings on higher resolution than 1080p)

Hard Drive

26 GB (this is about 2.5 times as big as The current ME games)

DirectX

11

* Xbox 360 controller supported

* 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

* Online Authentication at time of installation

Here's what I see the Recommended specs being for ME:A:

OS

Windows 64 bit (debate on directx 12 with Windows 10 continues until we see more)

CPU

prolly very little change here

RAM

Same

AMD Radeon R9 370 (New architectures coming out before game launch)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

VRAM

3 GB

Hard Drive

32 GB

Directx 11 or 12, don't know yet

A 'recommended' graphics card confuses me, in that it doesn't tell me what the recommended Anti-Aliasing settings and monitor resolution are going to be for the game.

Does 'recommended'  mean that 1920 x 1080 pixel Full HD / Full Screen (not windowed) is the recommended (or optimized) resolution? That we will get 60fps with max AA settings?

And this is my reasoning for saying the GPU wars are almost over.  They're already doing stuff for consoles only and then porting it over to PC.  So, whatever you have above that is just gravy.  The only thing that is holding the GPU manufacturers from saying that the GPU wars are over is the fact that so many indie dev's are out there and they're making games for the PC only.

I tend to agree. Though it could be more of a lull for now and/or new PU types (like the buzz about what AR tech brings) could get big. We'll need a shakeup but so far things are just settling and probably will for at least the next few years (current console gen). But I think 2020s could be big in surprising ways.

for the CPU: Most game now have for minimum a I5 and recommend a I7  and the AMD version equivalents.

If they really go with the DX12 exclusive bullshit like QB is doing they will cut alot their market.

just look this numbers and u will see what i mean https://www.netmarke...=10&qpcustomd=0

Direct X 12 is to new to fully flag a game right now, more bc ppl really arent doing the switch to Win10 like MS wasnt expecting to happen. (i really dont get why MS was expecting that since ppl always have issues with their new OS)

What about DA 2 running on Directx 11?

I agree but I doubt it will

ME3 is a 2012 game on a different engine

yeah I agree. Personally I'm looking at it this way my PC can run DAI just fine so should easily do the same with MEA. I expect the specs to be maybe slightly higher than DAI's but not significantly so given it's a game still also being released for the consoles. So I'd only expect a marginal increase at best.

yeah I had a fwe issues with Win 10 which was why I went back to Win 7. I may go back to win 10 on my next PC when I next upgrade if those issues are resolved. For now though I'm sticking with my trusty Windows 7

If ancient PC could work well with Andromeda's graphic, I'd be really surprised.

Hm....

DirectX 11 support for sure, as about 50% of the PC market is still using Windows 7 and EA wants to flog their gameware to the maximum market. Now we know that the DA:I Frostbite engine is optimized for Mantle. The 64$ question is what about ME:A + Frostbite + DirectX 12?

DICE had enough time to optimize their FB engine for DirectX 12... I think.  Two years, in fact, to do the job. The downside? You need Windows 10 and Windows 10 only has about 10% of the PC market.

See: http://microsoft-new...f-market-share/

Add the recently Khronos Group announcement of Vulkan 1.0 with both Nvidia, AMD and Intel support (in various degrees) and we now have a serious competitor to DirextX 12. Why, you ask? Simple: SirectX 12 is only supported by Windows 10, while Vulkan supports WIndows XP, 7, 8.1, 10, Linux, Android and SteamOS.

Wait, what about the Xbone 1? Ah... yes, it does support DirectX 12 because it also has Windows 10, while the PS4 does not. So, what is EA's thinking on this?

Oh,,, what a conundrum.  My tea reading ability tells me I'm looking at tea leaves.........

Yeah, since Nvidia is going to be supporting Vulkan with drivers and actually have some beta drivers ready already, I really see no reason for EA to rush directx 12. The only thing tho is that since ME:A is supposedly going to be a 2017 release, windows 10 might just pick up enough steam by then. Either way, its going to be quite the project for BW to optimize this game for like at least 3 APIs. Maybe that's one of the reasons why ME:A is prolly going to be released early 2017 as opposed to holiday 2016, but then again this is all really speculation.

You're going to need above 3.0 in cpu juice to run this game well. To achieve ultra you will probably need a GTX 970 and up and it's AMD equivalent. I see lots of DX 11 here...

...if you want to bet on having an easier time with this release I'd bank on having Windows 10 and DX12 as this is going to be a late 2016/early 2017 release and I think that's the timeframe for Windows 7 and DX 11 folks to start experiencing real anguish if they have not upgraded.

Fortunately I won't be in that boat.

One thing to note is that I have seen in benchmarks that sometimes AMD cards have lower drops in framerates than Nvidia cards. It depends on the game, and as such, since AMD likely has more invested in frostbite than Nvidia, we might not see those drops, or at least, not as severe. We will have to wait and see on this one.

I guess one question is how well is this game going to be optimized for PC players at launch? I'd definitely prefer not to have a buggy mess at the beginning and would prefer them to just hold off on release to get rid of some of those highly undesirable problems so many people sometimes have with games at release (I'm looking at you Watchdogs).
