Which in the long run would be better overall? I have trespasser so i have the encore staff which can get a huge amount of attack, and all the schemtics from the black emporium, but I've heard that the nercomancers spells cant critcally hit so I'd rather not waste my time if i dont have to.

I have always used crit builds on necro. They are vastly superior to attack builds for the pc. Attack builds are good on ai Dorian but the player should be doing stuff like manually detonating wb which does crit in that case. Wb can crit on the first hit and! The last (detonation).

Fire wall is now really not that great as upgraded horror with terror is better, no dots from firewall anyway, rather get fire mine which can crit.

So wb can crit (2x) and can has low cooldown esp with gathering storm etc.
Fire mine crits.
Energy barrage crits.
Etc.

Also use ring of doubt (and maybe ditch it if it becomes ridiculouly broken to cast anywhere from 8-15k wbs and get flashpoint all the time for EB/ firemine)

Ok, that cleared quite a bit up. Appreciate the reply

Necromancers can Crit just like any other Mage. The reason you see people saying that Necromancers don't want Crit is because DoT can't Crit, and both Spirit Mark and Walking Bomb deal DoT damage. The thing is, these are only 2 abilities out of a possible 8, and pretty much every other Mage ability can Crit (enter people pointing out other abilities that can't Crit), so while you have two abilities that deal DoT damage that can't Crit, you have at least 6 other abilities that can.

I agree. Go with a crit build on your inquisitor. The inquisitor can get more out of crit damage by the +10 cunning boost in the Emerald Graves, a few more +stat boosts elsewhere, and can wear +crit% items like the ring of slicing from the emporium or the mask of the grand duchess (which you only have one unless you cheat). With the encore staff, use the hilted staff grip (http://dragonage.wik..._Grip_Schematic) to increase crit chance, and use dragon cloth to increase crit damage.

On the other hand, for AI companions mages, just go with straight +attack, since raising their crit% is too much of a hassle, and they can't control abilities as effectively as a human can.
