Hmm, well this could mean nothing at all really. I mean, honestly it was just practical to have a set-species protagonist and for that species to be human. And we already knew we were an Alliance guy.

"Human story" says nothing. ME1 was a human story, it was from a human's perspective and humanity's place in the galaxy was always a theme. There's a difference between that and human-centric like ME2 and especially 3 were. So ultimately I'm taking this information with a pinch of meh.

A human story isn't a problem if it doesn't translate into the whole galaxy revolving around humans.

I mean, I could write a Belgian story that relied on having a Belgian protagonist, that doesn't mean that the story has to be about Belgium's innate superiority leading them to take over the world.

More and more looks like I may skip this game. I didn't mind the protagonist being human. But the last thing I wanted was another "humanity **** yeah!".....game.

Already had 3 of those titles, and getting kind of tired of it.

Someone has to. For the aliens to make ME interesting they would have to be interesting themselves.

Humans are without a doubt the least interesting race in the series. That is why many are complaining about yet ankther game (if not trilogy) focusing on humans yet again.

I guess that means more "humanity über alles" and "humans are special" nonsense...not big surprise.

Heres a good Belgian story. Not sure what it has to do with Belgium though. :P

No surprise. It was mentioned from day 1.

Bio has everything to gain from a human centric story, besides the fact that they find themselves to be the new kids in town struggling to survive. And, let's face it, Mass Effect is about humanity's struggles from ME1 to 3.

Also, Bio saves money with only two PC (male +female) voice actors.   There is absolutely no justification to have alien PC roles except to pander to the few. The greater "unwashed" out there will snap up the game as is.

Bio is making the right decision from a cost, time and resource requirements.

As a person who is more human centric, I can't really say I care here. It made sense before.. it was tied into humanity's story of exploration and making their way in the galactic community. It channeled real old school heroes like Gagarin and Shepard and Armstrong.

Now it's just pointess and detached. I don't care what humanity does anymore. The world I knew is gone. It may as well be another type of humanity, much like Star Wars. It has no down to earth narrative to it, without the Milky Way.

I asked Schlerf if Interstellar was gonna be an inspiration, and he said "Dunno, but always interesting to see what Nolan does." but man they really ripped off the Interstellar trailer with that N7 Day teaser.

I don't mind it being another human story, as long as it's not a galaxy-spanning conflict where everything is threatened but Earth is portrayed as the most important thing to the player.

Despite the Interstellarness and Jennifer Hale I still thought the teaser was quite nice, but it's just kind of pretentious. There was a time when Bioware weren't trying to make everything they made seem so deep. It's like Mac Walters/Schlerf or whoever is really in charge of story now, just wants Andromeda to be that movie they really liked smh.

I just feel like making something deep needs to be earned. If you're too heavy on monologue and speeches about the nature of humanity right off the bat, you're doing it too soon.

I don't mind playing a story centered around humanity. In facty, I prefer it. However, multiplayer, that's where I'd want to play as another specie.

Ummm, their firs trailer involved a gun fight to the song Riders in the sky....I think they're fine.

Just so long as the narrative isn't human centric, I don't mind a human protagonist. ME 1; which had the most 'alien' depictions of the various species IMO; had a human protagonist. Now if the pretentious little troupes like "humanity is special" or "human genetic diversity" ect show up then I will be annoyed.

I like it when humanity is just a part of a larger whole, not when we are the end all be all of the universe. We have Halo for that

Meh, I really hope it won't be so "human centric", like as if humans are "speshul". I'll be thoroughly annoyed.

I mean, I'm fine with a human story as long as it doesn't touch the humans are special overused trope.

Well that is what I have gathered. Yes, I know it is not news that we will be playing as a human, but it was never confirmed if the story will be human centric like ME2.

DA2 was only playable as a human, but it wasnt a human centric story like how ME2 was and how ME3 slightly was.

I'm not surprised, although it would be fun to play as an Asari or Turian I wasn't expecting it.

People are always whining about having to play a human in Mass Effect like playing an alien would be anything other than playing a weird looking human.

"Humans shouldn't be the center of the universe!" Well by that logic any race we play as would become the center of the universe, so that complaint has no merit.

"Humans are boring! I'm already a human! I want to be something else!" You're not equipped to play the role of an alien. You would be playing a human with a skin condition.

Get over it.

What I always hated about ME2 and ME3 was that it feel victim to the sci-fi trope that Humans are the center of the universe and are oh so special. Considering that MEA will take place in a new galaxy and be a fresh experience not only for humans, but other Milky Way races such as the Krogan and Asari.

However, in response to a twitter question, Bioware confirms that MEA will be a human storg, whatever that means. Does this mean MEA will be about the human perspective? Or will it take the ME2 route and out humans as the forefront while all other races plays as background material?

Here is the link: http://www.inquisitr...plains-bioware/

Of all the concerns I have about MEA, this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down towards the bottom

I don't get this bs that aliens have to have big heads, big eyes or even tentacles to be aliens. An alien is just a species that doesn't come from your home world. There could be civilizations out there who are very similar to us.

...you mean like Asari? Or Drell? Or Quarians? You clearly missed my point.

The series has always been humanity-centered. This is not Dragon Age. It has been about humans and their journey into the unknown literally since Day One.
