I've stayed with Windows 7.  Partly to be a smug hipster, but mostly because I like it and know that it works.

There is no point to move for a gamer, because there are no DX12 games

Yet.

Yeah. But by the time they show up M$ may have patched the disaster known as Win10 to a more bearable state. Also cross-platform Vulkan API may kick DX12's ass and not be Win10 dependable.

Did you disable Win 10 GPU driver updating? WU version was seriously borked when it was released.

Yeah I disabled it to prevent it from installing anything later than 353.54.  Perhaps I will try some recent drivers, but for a while anything after 353.54 was causing problems for many Win10 Shadowplay users.  Google searching didn't turn up any front page problems now so it may not be an issue anymore.

Well, I got a new machine that came with Win 8, which is a loss.  To escape that horrible OS I went with the free upgrade to 10.  I like 10 a lot better than 8.

Yes, but I went back to Windows 8.1, 'cause Cortana can suck it! I disabled her entirely with Geth herpes.

Windows 10 runs all your old Windows 7 games better because it includes WDDM 2.0, which is designed to dramatically reduce workload on the kernel-mode driver for GPUs that support virtual memory addressing, to allow multithreading parallelism in the user-mode driver and result in lower CPU utilization.

Direct3D 12 API, announced at Build 2014, will require WDDM 2.0. The new API will do away with automatic resource-management and pipeline-management tasks and allow developers to take full low-level control of adapter memory and rendering states.

You don't need to wait for DirectX 12 games to enjoy the benefits of Windows 10. All your current DirectX 8, 9, 10 & 11 games will run smoother on Windows 10. If you are experiencing stuttering, memory leaks, high CPU utilization etc on Windows 7, upgrading to Windows 10 will actually help.

Windows 10 is not the problem - EA servers being junk all the time is the problem. But otherwise, yes, the OS is no problem.

Recently built a new PC and have Windows 10 installed.  Runs everything great.   What FasterThanFTL said.  Would recommend a clean install though.

My audio reverses in ME3 on windows 10. And it does it randomly. So a banshee to the front left will sound from the back right. It's so annoying. Never had an issue on win8. Reverses back and forth constantly so I'm thinking about downgrading.

I had that happen once. Turns out I had my headphones on the wrong way. I'm special that way.

My headphones are designed to fit only one way. It does it in game, not just "when you put them on". It does it every 10 mins sometimes.

I once posted about hunting for an Assault Trooper that I could hear behind me for most of a wave. The reason was as you describe :P

The only problem I have found is that "Leviathan" from ME3 won't work.

As in, every time I try to go to Bryson's Lab for the first time it freezes when it auto-saves.  I have reinstalled, repaired, and everything else several times, but I just can't figure it out.  I have never had this problem before.

So if anyone knows of a fix or a workaround, I would REALLY appreciate it.

Win 10 broke my ME3.  Previously, my audio chat did not work.  Now with Win 10, I can hear team=mates whining and whining and whining "someone PLEASE revive me!!!"

I saw "... combines the best of 7 and 8..." in one of their marketing tricks.

I still don't even know how to close a ****** window or "app" as they call it in 8 without the help of the task manager. For accessing system properties I need to open the explorer and right click some properties. I'm sure there is a better way, but they concealed it so they can laugh their asses off watching or imagining 20-year-users struggle like monkeys trying to hit the right keys.

They even took alt-F4 away. WTF?

So I rather abstained from touching any of it and let someone else beta test it first.

Win 10 works like Win 7.  I hardly ever touch any of the apps.

As for system properties, one (or two if you are anal) word "GodMode".

It's worked fine for me, and in fact it's fixed some random issues here and there I've been having with how certain programs run on win7 (mostly not stuff relevant to gaming, however). From a gaming standpoint the performance is unchanged, and I've been having absolutely no issues with either nvidia drivers or Shadowplay.

Of course, I don't like the "everything must now look like a goddamn smartphone" aesthetic of the newer windows operating systems vs. the more classic windows look, but eh, I'm old and grumpy and hate change and kids these days
