I'm going through all of them and checking to see where they came from and if the author's gave the ok or not. I will then do an update with only the textures that the others posted the OK or have given be the OK. I will try to get this done as soon as I can.

I will never understand why 3rd party people (players/mod builders and so on) spend hours and hours working on games and upload it to the internet and say you can only use my work for this and that is it.

Anyone is welcome to do anything they want with anything I do. I just hope they can use or make it better. Now if they are making money off of it then that would be different.

Most folks, will give you permission IF you ask them directly and promise to credit them in an included .txt file or something, but don't just assume that they are free.  Sometimes though, they may have spent enough of their own energy creating something that they want more than that OR have the vastly mistaken idea that the images, textures, etc are worth some sort of cash when in reality, few people would ever pay for something like that.. This particular subject has been beat to death multiple times here AND on the Skyrim site as well though.

In regards to your question about updating the files you placed on the vault, my personal opinion would be to actually update the versions that are already up there to keep them easier to manage.  Now-a-days, folks generally are not using dial-up for internet, so file size is seldom an issue any more, where managing hundreds of possibly duplicated files would be a major pain in the arse.

For those of us with a monthly data-cap file sizes can be an issue, but where NwN is concerned not so much.

I just uploaded Nebula's Skyrim Textures ( 781.27 MB zipped) under the Skyrim Textures project her on the vault.

Is the 781.27 mb to large for most people to download?

I just wanted to keep all of Nebula's work together and give him credit for all of it.

Yes. Using 2 or 3 hundred Megs chunks would be more manageable i think. You could perhaps gain a little more space using a different compress utility. 7Zip comes to mind. I don't see the problem giving credit to separated archives.

I'd separate the content into a few groups by content type (what the texture is used for) then zip them all in a way that they unzip to the same directory name. Or get an old zip splitter function out of the dust and split the large package into manageable chunks.

As someone with limited data bandwidth I think I'd prefer MD's first option.

The problem I have with larger zip files is that they often corrupt during download, or as TR mentioned, you can't get the whole thing at once without damaging your monthly limit. Suppose all I wanted was the rock textures, I'd prefer to just get those separately when I needed them. Either way, waiting for even a quarter gig to download and then finding out it was a failure is just upsetting.

Sorry I just seen that when I uploaded AOF Skyrim Textures I uploaded them as .dds Skyrim files. So I just did an update and uploaded them again as .tga files so they are now fully usable with NWN1.
