Sure, but in two million years that's going to change.
I meant in reference to not going to andromeda at FTL speeds. I agree that at lightspeed or lower, it seems impractical as a "getaway".

Nothing. Once in space there is no outside force acting against you. Once you get up to speed you will stay there. You only need enough power to get up to speed and then you can shut the power off. There will be no friction like driving on a road, and so long as no one applies the breaks then all you have to do is hope you hit nothing or don't get close to a sun or a black hole and deal with gravity acting against you.
Otherwise momentum alone will keep you going because there would literally be no outside force slowing you down.
Hearing Shep's voice in the trailer was nice, made everything a little more emotional.
Lol, myself and others called this over a year ago. It was so unbelievably predictable. And yet, people still had doubts even after the E3 trailer had the word "ARK" clear as day on the destination screen. Heads under the sand, much?
You will not be forgotten Earth. Humanity #1
That comment actually made me quite emotional. I imagined my character leaving Earth behind forever, thinking that it might have been destroyed by the Reapers, all humanity obliterated from its surface for the rest of time.
But ... in our omniscience as gamers, we can at least take comfort in the knowledge that Commander Shepard prevented the worst from happening.
Remember in ME3 when it's stated explicitly, time and time again, that absolutely any resources and manpower that the combined species of the milkyway can muster is being spent on the crucible?
Remember the constant focus on how it's the only plan they have, and if it fails the galaxy is doomed as they've put absolutely everything into this one venture?
Remember how, before the Reapers actually turned up and started tearing bumholes, the only people who believed they even existed (let alone posed a threat) could be counted on one hand?
I'll put this frankly, if you believe they crafted and launched an ark before the end of ME3, you're an idiot. And if Bioware have actually written it this way, it'll be a giant middle finger to all the stories and lore that preceded it.
Believe it or not, I love Mass Effect. I want nothing more than the new game to blow my mind, but the more I find out, the more it sounds like the rambling fan-fic of a rabid drug user. If there isn't space magic coming, I'll be genuinely surprised.
Considering shepard is still alive to deliver the goodbye message, I'm going to assume it takes place before the reaper war (the launch of the mission, that is). Unless control ending confirmed canon! I jest. It then takes an awfully long time to get to andromeda, etc.
Interesting..
But I swear, the one part that gave me chills was when shepard says, "you will say goodbye." The writer for that trailer deserves a gold star. Man, the feels! With that trailer alone, the whole tone for the next game is different.. but sorta like the first ME where I didn't know what was happening on the galactic stage. Now, I get that feeling of "I don't want to leave, but we have to go" and "what the hell is going on when we arrive where we're going".
Pretty sweet. Hypuuuu!!!
The former would defeat the entire purpose of moving the setting, which - it should be noted - is exactly what allowed us to predict the overall plot of this game with such accuracy like one and a half years ago. I have no problem with the latter. To be fair, we still have zero information about who, what, when, and why behind their journey to Andromeda, so we're still working with no proven theories as of yet. This could feasibly still be taking place after the Reaper war; this could also be taking place shortly after the events of ME1.
I thought the teaser was amazing, great tone and the ship looks awesome.
I don't know why that trailer made me sad even though I can't wait for this game.
I can hardly wait too

Yeah but that would be so dumb they need all fighters they can get lets send a whole ark away !
They have had a billion years to play with the tech. And some of their stuff "violates known physics"

Implying the whole ark is full of fighters

because people are not known for hiding secrets?
Also, the fact that people didn't believe the Reapers exist doesn't mean that there might have not been a secret plan to send another ship in another galaxy. also, think Citadel disproves the fact that the council didn't believe the reaper's threat. they simply hided their true opinion apparently.
No but all the images of earth and human space flight imply it, no?
Ripped off Interstellar's first teaser a bit much.

Well if it isent we wont really have that great of a game now will we ?
FARMERS ATTACK !
Well, what did you expect from the people who ripped off Deus Ex's endings almost verbatim?Ripped off Interstellar's first teaser a bit much.
It's confirmed, BioWare does not give a sh!t about their own lore anymore. Mass Effect is dead.Well, what did you expect from the people who ripped off Deus Ex's endings almost verbatim?

If you want to keep making leaps in logic I guess, yes the ship will have fighters on it but not everyone on there is one
