If you want to keep making leaps in logic I guess, yes the ship will have fighters on it but not everyone on there is one

Yeah but my point is They cant spare any fighters it was the last and only stand against the reaper invasion we need everybody we can get ( that was the whole point of mass effect 3)

so sending a whole ark away is just stupid.

It's confirmed, BioWare does not give a sh!t about their own lore anymore. Mass Effect is dead.

Well, I guess this is goodbye.  You'll probably be leaving this forum, or at least hanging around the forums for the earlier games talking about what you liked about the prev-- What's that?  You're going to stay in this forum, complaining endlessly yet still sticking around?  Colour me surprised.

The former would defeat the entire purpose of moving the setting

Why is that the "entire purpose"? Why aren't there purposes plural?

which - it should be noted - is exactly what allowed us to predict the overall plot of this game with such accuracy like one and a half years ago.

It looks like a ship will be traveling from Milky Way to Andromeda to explore and colonize. That's about all we've got so far. Is that really predicting with "such accuracy"? Like I said earlier, some random person posted almost the exact same thing as the first post in the "Casey Hudson Fan Idea" thread. The trailer looks like a one-minute trailer for that guy's idea.

Either way, its an ark, that much is obvious and so the details of when or why it left are rather semantic, dont you think?

Semantic? No, I don't think so. The parameters in which these people would travel to Andromeda, who spearheaded the journey and the catalyst to why they left, would change the tone and purpose of the story. Is it an "ark" or a simple colonization/exploration effort? Are they running from the Reapers or fleeing a deteriorating Milky Way?

All I can say is that I really REALLY hope Parasini is onboard that ship :D

I think it would be funny if a lot of the people who you got emails about being dead were actually selected for the Ark project.

@Ahglock - That's actually an interesting theory, to me anyway. The ARK project is so secret that they need to fake the death of those involved. Emily Wong for MEA pls (I have no reason for why a reporter would be involved, maybe she uncovered the story and they included her to shut her up?).

...why would she be important to an ark? She's just a reporter.

... uh, about the same thing from those who ripped off Revelation Space and Babylon 5 in creation of the entire plot and setting.

Remember in ME3 when it's stated explicitly, time and time again, that absolutely any resources and manpower that the combined species of the milkyway can muster is being spent on the crucible?

Remember the constant focus on how it's the only plan they have, and if it fails the galaxy is doomed as they've put absolutely everything into this one venture?

Remember how, before the Reapers actually turned up and started tearing bumholes, the only people who believed they even existed (let alone posed a threat) could be counted on one hand?

I'll put this frankly, if you believe they crafted and launched an ark before the end of ME3, you're an idiot. And if Bioware have actually written it this way, it'll be a giant middle finger to all the stories and lore that preceded it.

Believe it or not, I love Mass Effect. I want nothing more than the new game to blow my mind, but the more I find out, the more it sounds like the rambling fan-fic of a rabid drug user. If there isn't space magic coming, I'll be genuinely surprised.

BioWare had no idea, when they wrote ME3, if there was even going to be an ME4 -- let alone what its story was going to about.

You can't blame them for tweaking one or two minor story elements in order to set up a whole new saga.

Besides ... it seems perfectly feasible to me that there'd be a top-secret project to devise an escape plan. Shepard's plan to construct an ancient superweapon, function unknown -- which had never actually saved a single life or killed a single Reaper in the past -- was insanely, almost laughably, desperate and risky. Who in their right mind would put all of their eggs in that basket with the very existence of organic life at stake?!

In the face of inevitable galactic annihilation, building an "Ark" so that our species might at least escape and survive elsewhere seems far more pragmatic.

And perhaps nobody told Shepard about the Ark ship until just before it was about to launch because the leaders needed Shepard to stay focused on saving the galaxy, not doubting whether success was possible. Perhaps Shepard was told that all resources were being put into the Crucible when in fact they weren't.

They have plenty of time to do that over the course of the following year.

They've also had plenty of time to say goodbye over the past 3 years.

Yeah, but that was then, this is now.  You can't expect people to remember every little detail of a game that happened years ago!  Stop living in the past!  The story doesn't matter, it's the the ART that's important.  Besides this is science fiction , they can do whatever they hell they want, and it makes sense, because it's FICTION, after all   <_<

Since it was mentioned that the N7 character seen in the trailer isn't the main character, maybe he/she will have a P7 logo on the armor representing Pathfinder

There may be a problem with having a P7 logo or badge. Like some guy will probably end up claiming he should have a P10&1/2.
