What's this based on, besides unfounded assumptions?

Probably by

developing and implementing tech the current cycle quite simply doesn't have (no deus ex machina blueprints to to follow either)

Getting a colony ship or several colony ships  big enough to carry all these passengers (quite likely to be a lot larger than a standard colony ship since this is supposed to save multiple species and pretty much restart civilization.  There are no second chances here.

Power, fuel, spare parts, and other supplies for a multi-century journey.  And even once they arrived, keep the crew going for however long it takes to find an unoccupied garden world to find.

Selecting the colonists, crew, soldiers, etc.  These may be the last of their respective races.  They will have to find people who can handle the pressure of this journey into the unknown.  People willing to abandon the galaxy, family, friends.  And if this is a secret, people who won't be missed.

Probably because I talked to an IT guy earlier today. My contempt level always takes some time to go down after one of those sessions. This thread ain't helping much.

You weren't so rude.  You actually asked a question rather than responding with an obnoxious gif

It was a static image, thank you very much. And an entirely accurate one. :)

I do hope this is the alliance reaper backup plan, because daaaaamn did it annoy me, that noone anywhere really did anything about the reaper threat. Made all the races look incompetent. I mean not even some kind of concept planning of a sovereign class ship killer anywhere... That they didn't have the time to get it ready? Fair enough... but no preparations of any kind were really shown, other than vague mentionings...

... But apart from that...

LOVE

IT!

*getting the vibe*... ok... wooooosaaaaaaah... it's far away and must not hype up yet.

I AGREE. it annoyed me too! but i guess shepard has the last laugh now. AT LEAST shepard gave her people and whoever believed in her a 2nd chance going to andromeda. and i do believe that only a few races will be on board. and that will be ebcause they believed in shepard and not that alliance actually believed in shepard. and why i think that? because NO WAY that huge ship was built in a year. i really think that they started on it on the end of ME1 when the alliance did believe shepard reaper threat.

This a ship that's going to travel non-stop in FTL for a few centuries the project is not going to be as simple as you think it is. Using reaper tech means that you risk indoctrination and reaper core's are much more complex than the ones sued by the galaxy.

Much smaller, weaker canons than Sovereign had.  But details, amirite?  :D

Getting to Andromeda is the least of my concerns regarding the game. Not a impossible move in the lore.

I'm more worried about the whole map/locations being "explorable", and only that, with the Ark being the only place with civilized stuff/attractions in Andromeda.

Trends give a indication on what to expect, and bioware poor track record with implementing retcons is still very relevant.

Past occurrences have no relevance in this matter.

The fact that the entire galaxy is committing all its resources to its construction says otherwise.

But we've already established that that isn't true. The quote you provided proves that.

Its ridiculous to think that the ship depicted in the trailer can be completed in a few months. Its also well know fact that dreadnought sized ships take years to complete.

A few years. OK, so where the hell are you getting decades? If the Crucible could be constructed in a few months why couldn't this ship? Would it take decades to draft blueprints?

It does it says they are willing to risk anything to stop the reapers.

But they're not willing to do anything to escape the Reapers? They're going to put all of their eggs in the Crucible basket, with no proof that it would even work?

Point still stands a feat such as making an ark ship to go to another galaxy can't be done on a smaller scale compared to the crucible.

Who cares? The Crucible didn't drain the galaxy of every resource just because you want it to.

The galaxy had the luxury of having the blue prints for the crucible. The ark ship would require having to do everything from scratch designing the thing, making sure it works etc something that can't be done if a few months.

They never bothered to make sure the Crucible worked. And again, would it take decades to draft blueprints?
You're being entirely illogical for the sake of throwing a hissy fit.

I'm not sure why people are trying to apply rules about logistics and technology we don't have to a setting which handwaves its rules as soon as they become inconvenient or just outright forgets they existed in the first place.

We don't know when this project started. As I said before, this colonization prjoect might've been something that started decades ago, irrelevant to the Reapers, but that (as someone said) returned in the spotlight after Sovereign. Because as we know since the Citadel dlc the Council did believe the Reaper's threat, and with a lot of works already done.

I do think there might be some problems in how this ship would work and reach Andromeda, and that Bioware might have screwed up its own lore. I understand the feelings of those who don't want this to happen, because I fee the same. But Bioware screwed up its own lore multiple times with ME, and not just in the lastest installment, so my expectations are much lower on this regard.

Anyway, we still don't know nothing. Everything is possible in terms of when the project started and how it works, so at the moment we can only make assumptions.

You can bet on there being at least one major hub on an advanced planet. We'll have to have at least one Andromedan race that isn't trying to kill us.

Tried to get that point across about the Thorian, the Cipher, and the Conduit earlier but ... yeah.

There is this concept art...

The shadowy figures are probably tourists, sightseeing and shopping. I am curious whose planet this might be.

ffs...Seeing people get upset over and/or nitpick the most minute detail of a ****** teaser trailer that was solely created to give the fans a little something for N7 day. Some of you over-entitled pieceofshits can't even appreciate that. I hope Bioware doesn't put anything else out until the next E3 and even then to be nothing more than what we got today with a release date at most.

That aside. It was a decent teaser. Having Meer along with Hale would have been better, but whatever. Liked that they made a point to convey the idea of exploration in the spirit of our trailblazing forefathers.

I agree, having Mark Meer and Jen Hale both do pieces of the narration together would have been epic!! TBH, my feeling on the trailer released today was nothing more than a final farewell to the Shep story line and to put an emphasis on exploration! It is still a frackin' awesome trailer lol  <3

You know what guys, honestly? Humanity or some race somewhere probably already had the blueprints for the ark long before the reaper war started. Notice that paranoid and reasonable people would've logically concluded as soon as they invented FTL travel and made first contact with aliens that either researching other galaxies would be scientifically beneficial or the galaxy is a lot more crowded than they thought and it might be good to look at other galaxies in the long run.

The planning of the ark could've happened well before the reapers, simply out of interest or paranoid governments' initiatives.

TBH the ship shown in the trailer reminded me of a collector ship.. would it be so hard to fathom that they retrofitted a collector ship to meet their needs? lol

It baffles me, all the negativity and even downright hostility from some people here regarding this teaser. It is literally a farewell to someone (?) from Commander Shepard and a ship. That's it. That ship could belong to an entirely different race. We don't even have proof that that is an ark ship. It's all speculation. Why are you so negative?

Well, I forgot about N7 until someone showed me this video. Like the ship, appreciate the Shepard narration (I assume it's meant more for us than any canon) but I wish they had both male and female Shepard because not all of us played female.

Ambiguous, but expected.

Also at about 48 seconds in the video there is a dogtag with the name Ryder on it on the left...maybe new protag name?

The new protagonist.

It's meant for us, I'm sure. It felt pretty obvious.
