I've noticed on YouTube, some people saying that the protagonists last name is "Ryder." I can not make out the writing on the dogtag, but it's clearly in the video. What do you think? If "Ryder" is true, then "Ghost Riders" makes sense.

Good catch, for whomever caught this first. I wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't been mentioned in another thread.

 

Ryder being the last name of the new protagonist would be in line with how Bioware named Shepard, assuming Ryder is derived from Sally Ride. Commander Shepard was named after Alan Shepard.

"Ryder"? Yep, I like it. And it does sound like the kind of "cool" surname that BioWare would choose. It reminds me of "Hawke".

Love it. The nod to Sally Ride is absolutely appropriate, the same way the nod to Alan Shepard was. Ryder also sounds like a great all around protagonist name, same as Hawke and Shepard.

"Ryder" is an English name for "Knight". So it makes even more sense.

Rider/Ryder works really well in German. Coincidentally, the best known German astronaut right now is Thomas Reiter (= German word for rider, horseman etc.), currently director of human spaceflight at ESA.

I like "Ryder." One thing I'll give Bioware, they're generally pretty good at picking names with versatility and power.

I agree i think his military my comment was not aimed at you i just remembered the logos are on the other side of the dogtag not next to there name.

Not bad as a last name but when people call you Ryder it effectively feels like your first name as its also a first name. A really crappy first name. Shepard worked for me as it always felt like a last name that people just happened to address you by. Like how since in my game group there are 3 Daves I go by last names.
