If by "weird" you mean "incredibly stupid", then yeah  ;)

It would be "incredibly stupid".

This is nothing. They said they were not going to give us anything. This is just a 'stir tactic' for the bsn. Give us something to fuss about for the next six months.

MY Theory is this:

Bioware knew no matter what they did people were going to just ****** and whine about it and over-analyze the hell out of it to find any little piece of evidence they can use to attack Bioware.  So Bioware just said "**** it" and just released it to please the few and ****** off the trolls.

ITs a mystery.

Don't you like mysteries? When I see a mystery, I think "When I solve IT, finally the truth is revealed and we can move forward."

Well I'm hoping they do the smart thing and confirm in Andromeda that Shepard survived ME3 (if you got the perfect ending) and in the logs and codex you can read history texts about what Shepard did after the war. Like settle down with their LI etc.

I got the impression it was supposed to be 'symbolic'. Like Shepard saying goodbye to the franchise/fanbase etc. Just in case there were still people out there who thought they may be the protag in MEA.

No, it's pretty straight forward. Reveals happen in every form of fiction since the beginning of time, it's not new to Mass Effect. Novels come out before/during/after successful film/game franchises to either reveal or flesh out certain stories and that's just one example. I'm curious to see exactly how this story plays out, you're the one who's trying real hard for some reason.

I think it was N7 day's fan service, a way to show Shepard passing forward his legacy to ME Andromeda.

It has to be some sort of a retcon, at least partially.

The problem I have if it isn't a retcon of some sort is due to the fact that the Reapers armada is located outside the Milky Way. At the end of ME2 we can see them (at least a part of them) moving towards the Milky Way while being clearly located WAAAY outside of the galaxy's arms (edge). Which means that if the ARK was sent outside the Milky Way galaxy before taking the "jump" towards Andromeda, that it would have been VERY clearly exposed in dark space pretty much within Reapers 'hibernation territory' where they supposedly wait before waking up before an invasion. Already at the end of ME2 they are en-route to the Milky Way, but very early on the Collectors already opperate in the galaxy, controlled by Harbinger. The thing is at the BEGINNING of ME2 when the Collector ship attacks the SR-1 we're technically just a few months after the events of ME1 (that's BEFORE Shepard gets killed and before the two years period during which he/she was 'dead').

So, by the end of ME1 Harbinger is active (maybe not the entire Reapers armada, but at least Harbinger is), orders the Collectors to go kill Shep, and they manage (again, that's ME2's Intro, that's before Shepard dies). Then ME2 itself starts (Lazarus Project intro, Shepard comes back to life two years later) and during the events of ME2 we can safely assume that the Reapers armada that we see moving at the very end was in fact active during the events of the game. Then again, even if they weren't all active and literally just 'turned on' right at the end, that's still six months BEFORE the start of ME3. So... the ARK... at least in the teaser itself... not sure if that's figurative or if it literally happened like that, but it is located OUTSIDE of the Milky Way in dark space exactly where the Reapers should be located as they were moving towards the Milky Way, or at least where they would have been still 'dormant' and waiting, while Harbinger would have been there somewhere and active.

So the retcon, if there's one, will probably be in relation to the Reapers themselves and/or the manner with which the invasion started, or from where the Reapers armada started to move. The way I understand it is that the Reapers armada pretty much surrounded the galaxy from the start, dormant, but ready to come in from all directions in the galactic 'ring'. So if that's the case, and I reiterate, the problem I have with that teaser is that it's suggesting that:

1) Reapers were already gone from dark space and were inside the galaxy doing their invasion, which would mean that it would be happening during the events of ME3 (or near the 'end' of it).

2) With a retcon, the Reapers probably weren't that numerous to start with, and just weren't located there exactly where the ARK was sent, which is why the ARK didn't get intercepted by Reapers as it was leaving the galactic's "edge".

Really, not sure how they'll manage it. It might be possible with some sort of a retcon and/or a generous dose of suspension of disbelief, but really... according to that teaser that ARK should have been intercepted and blown to pieces by the Reapers. So yeah, my guess is it's a retcon, or the ARK remained top-secret and was sent away while the Reapers in ME3 were already inside the galaxy and 'distracted' by their invasion and never got lucky enough to notice the ARK's existence, much less intercept it. The final possibility is that what is seen in the teaser was in fact completely figurative and the ARK, in fact, didn't do the extragalactic jump from outside the galaxy.

I was happy enough with my Destroy ending actually.

All I ever wanted though was to get back to business in the Milky Way. It's the reason I kept fighting and playing. Everything was interesting about Mass Effect -- except the epic Bioware formula and the Reapers. If they thought I was only there for that, they're bigger idiots than I thought. I just wanted to be a dirty cop. Or get in some adventures or hash out political plots. Or work out racial relations in detail. Not go to another galaxy and see the same epic formula again. Which is what will happen.

Can't agree more.

This is what I keep seeing.  When faced with an argument these Bioware apologists can't deflect, ad hominem against, or outright insult towards, they merely use some sarcastic single word response.  As if that's actually some sort of valid rebuttal.  It really is quite amusing to watch.
