I understand and sorry if I sounded harsh, that wasn't my intention. I also wanted many female trailers and pictures as the dude but alas, never got much except one trailer and very few posters.
Maybe they'll do something different with the dude but it would be nice for once that she gets the last word.
Those people are just very vocal and few. So I wouldn't worry, it was a good step for them since many people liked the video already.

And I'm telling you that maybe they don't have to just because he was the marketing boy. It had nothing to do with who's popular, they just chose the female Shepard (finally). And i'm personally glad with the option.

That's limited data, like I said. The Catalyst, if it can be stated this way, was literally desperate for a solution. It ran into a wall so much so that it just came up with a half-assed idea... the Harvest. It knew itself it wasn't a final solution. Yet it sat on it's ass for a gajillion years, until Shepard came up to show the solution.
But I don't see why they wouldn't search more on their own in all that time. UNLESS they simply weren't capable.
Which I was led to believe, until this game. Now they have no excuse.
I just accepted the fact that the Catalyst and Reapers were big stupid machines and maybe their creators made a mistake. As for Shepard knowing or not knowing, I don't think it makes a difference with what we already have - the Shepard story was ending with the reaper conflict ending either way. Now it would've been cool looking back with 20/20 hindsight had the 3 endings been different: 1) build the crucible and use the fleet to break through the reapers at earth and gamble it pays off, 2) do what the protheans did and use the fleet and crucible engineers/resources to build stasis pods for yourself, gambling that it pays off and 3) use the crucible engineers/resources and fleet to build an ark to leave the galaxy and gamble that it pays off. That would've been more interesting than a red/green/blue ending but also either totally unfeasible or only possible if they knew they were making that from the start.
Where we are now 3 years after ME3 released a video of us leaving and Shepard saying farewell and just skipping to Andromeda ain't bad.
She was doing things for TOR, thus being quicker to get to do lines for that video

If it makes you feel any better, I am expecting (and kind of hoping) that Ryder is going to be female (as far as more marketing and default goes)
They already said they'll release 2 trailers with the male and female separately, also one trailer a la Fallout 4 would be neat (showing both genders). 
What i'm hoping at least the next series will feature more female protagonist too, anything it's better than the nothing we got in the previous trilogy.

Now I want to rage at BioWare for releasing this trailer using only femShep's voice because they created more hostility towards their female fans.
The hostility already existed, the trailer just gave it a target. But the more trailers like it there are, the more people should get used to women just being around.

lol, a whole lot of people have no clue what retcon means it seems. It is more along these lines, 'i don't like a turn a story has made thus it is a retcon'
A retcon is when a clear, provable story line that happens for all players is changed to suit another game, book etc. We have no clue at all whether shepard knew or didn't know anything. They just told us that he/she did know something, which does not contradict anything in the previous games at all.
It's more along the lines of confirming a 100% totally logical storyline. I guess most people would like to be as stupid as the Prothians and those before and having no plan B.

my bet goes with the construction of the crucible (an unlimited power source of sorts), maybe they built two at the same time (backup plan in case one got struck by reapers) and decided to use it to power a ship (the front of the ark looks like a retrofited collector's ship, the ships tail resembles the crucible).
its entirely possible that the Ark was launched prior to the Reaper invasion, or they could retcon it into existence during the war

I doubt that's the issue. You don't see anyone complaining about Tomb Raider.
Still though, I'd love to see them push some female oriented marketing in the new game.. And watch where it goes. For better or worse. It needs to happen, just so there's something tangible out there. Instead of "what ifs".

Some of them will complain eventually, I really doubt the majority cares about female being featured too. It won't harm anyone if they show some on the side along with the male.
We're still in a year where it's considered "brave" to show the female protagonist in a game with gender options...... what crazy world we live in.

I don't think it's about people being against females though. Not in general.
There's a struggle on how many female gamers there are. Some don't like the narrative that it's a roughly equal field. Or that if things were just marketed better, it would show the truth. It's not very substantiated with these sort of AAA games. So the guys lash out and act like jerks about it.
But I think that should be put to the test. I'm not invested enough here to take it personally. Have a whole year where every game is marketed this way, for all I care. It would be interesting, no matter the result.

I hope they push the female protagonist just to ****** off the MRA's and 'gaters. A non white female protagonist would be even better. I'm sure at least a few of them would have an aneurysm over it.
yes, there's no reason for anyone to want to see MaleShep on trailers promoting the next game besides being an MRA or a "gater"
I feel like the Ark didn't have anything to do with the Reaper war. To me it feels like its just an exploration ship as Shepard mention explorers. So maybe it has not much to do with the main ME story, it's just a whole new galaxy with other people. Basically starting something new.
Or the message could be from a time capsule, and someone just stumbled upon it years after, when returning back to the Milky way.
Both of these to my opinion, would be better than having something to do with the main games.
