What the living **** is a PSA commercial?

A public service announcement (PSA) or public service ad, are messages in the public interest disseminated by the media without charge, with the objective of raising awareness, changing public attitudes and behavior towards a social issue.

Oh I see. And they are suggesting Dorian is a public service commercial for the acceptance of gay people?

You know what - I'm 36 in a few weeks, and sometimes I feel bloody old on this forum. It's like it's occupied by little children who desperately need to grow up. The amount of small minded, bigoted and childish viewpoints expressed just staggers me.

Actually that's an insult to children - at least they have the excuse of not knowing better.

^ I don't remember Dorian in the slightest so I have no idea if he applies. But the PSA complaint isn't supposed about adding gays. Though it seems to be misused a lot.

It's about being preachy. It's fine to have characters espouse views but if it comes across as the game designers preaching their views to you it's irritating even when you agree with them. It's as much fun as people knocking on your door on a Saturday morning to tell you about the lord.

I have never felt 'preached at' by bioware - I think people see things they want to see.

And even if they were, it's their perogative to do so.

I don't want to see three games worth of story, characters and lore be raped and abandoned, simply to appease the chest thumping blow hards who demand it. (Seems theres many in here.)

 

I don't want Noah's ark, one of the more ludicrous religious fables, to be copy pasted simply to throw the story to a different galaxy and not have to deal with the endings.

 

I don't want everything previously established about space travel and established time line thrown out the airlock to achieve said 'ark'. 

 

I don't want to have to use the term 'launch the ark' instead of 'jump the shark'. 

 

I don't want to see galaxy conquering Lovecraftian horrors, whose influence has been established to continue long after death, be reduced to an after thought. (The fact so many do has me worried, did we play the same games?) Lovecraftian monsters should be Lovecraftian monsters - not so easily 'beat'.

 

I could go on, but I guess I simply don't want everything that made me fall in love with this universe retconned or thrown out so as to back them out of the ending corner. I'd have preferred they stuck to their guns, doubling down on the ending. Instead, it looks like they're doubling down on the space magic.

 

Also, Shepards been stuck in rubble for a few years now, answers would be a kindness. (Again though, the fact so many want Shepard gone is worrying. I'm sure customizable-N7-soldier-who's-not-a-Shepard-knock-off-honest will be refreshing though)

Yes, we all played the same games. I think you should refocus your ire. It's not the disruntled Mass Effect fans who squandered all of ME1's potential. Doubling down on the endings is impossible because A) they're terrible, and B ) even if they weren't terrible, they're utterly irreconcilable. They only way they could build a sequel from that mess would be to double down on one, which is maybe the worst of a number of bad options.

 

As far as the last point - have you considered that the reason you're so reluctant to part with Shepard is because two of the three games s/he's had have been disappointing and a little stupid? And besides - do you really want to just run around with the same characters over and over forever?

Or in the context of OP's title, I would not like to see anyone involved with the hugely dissapointing ME3 endings to have anything to do with MEA. Nothing. Zilch. Zero.

There outta be some kind of penalty for the people who could have done much, but did so little, and that badly.

Except disappoint legions of fans.

Boggles the mind he survived after EA/Bioware stock tanked by fully a third, to the tune of over 1Billion in lost market cap following the endings fiasco.

Possibly he was a voice of reason and was overruled? I doubt it, but still, why is he still around?

3+ish I've heard. San Francisco has openly lgbt a bit north of 5%. So ME1 probably had the statistically right numbers. Though I'm not sure that is a goal to shoot for. I do think it's off how underrepresented racial minorities are though if they are trying to take a stand on things like this.

No. Most recent studies indicate that roughly for women in the age range 16 to 44, the proportion who report having had some same-sex experience is 16%, and the amount is increasing as people become less afraid to be honest about their sexuality (men are still more reluctant to report than women, but even so there is a clear trend upwards).
I think it is down to sexuality being seen as less black and white, which must confuse the hell out of some people who are probably frothing incoherently with rage as they read this.
