Unstoppable dialogues. Just let me press "Esc" and load if I accidentally chose a wrong answer.

Crap writing and drama having priority over common sense. I don't want my character to be forced to act stupid and incompetent just to achieve some sort of dramatic effect (e.g. pretty much every encounter with Kai Leng, the suicide run to the beam in London and the ridiculous evac, having Jacob and Brynn save Shepard while the squadmates that should be doing that stand in the background watching, knocking out the Virmire Survivor on Mars with a single sexbot [that has enough time to call home] while Shepard watches and does nothing, Shepard's body surviving atmospheric entry, etc). I want to have a plot that makes sense and isn't contrived to hell. (No Crucibles that were upgraded by countless cycles without them knowing anything about what it does or where it goes and it all conveniently manages to work out in the end.) And it is important that there is a plot to begin with, not like ME2 that mostly consists of recruitment and loyalty missions and drags the entire franchise on a pointless tangent.

Pointless fetch quests that are there just to make the game artificially longer and that are acquired as stupidly as by finding a piece of paper somewhere on the ground in the middle of a forest (DAI) or by eavesdropping on random strangers (ME3). No random items we find wherever that just need delivering and somehow our protag knows who exactly to deliver them to (like DAII). Side quests are fine! Even fetch quests can be fine. But, for the love of gods, make them relevant and interesting somehow. (ME1 Feros might be a decent example how to do this right. You ask how to help the colony get back on its feet and thus get more dialogues, have a reason to explore and get a better idea of what the colonists are going through.) I'll take quality over quantity. Every single time.

What I find even worse than pointless fetch quests are MMORPG-like quests that consist of you having to gather x amount of y item. NO. MORE. SHARD. HUNTING. Especially when those shards are placed at barely accessible locations. Such quests are no fun at all. They just waste my time before I realise they're completely optional. I get it, you're trying to get me to explore the beautiful open world you've build. But I'd rather visit the area because I have important business there, not because I'm going to pick a piece of stone and leave. (The areas could be much smaller if it means they're going to be more interesting.) I don't mind collectibles. The mosaic pieces were an okay extra that one can randomly find by going about their business, just like Shepard's star ship collection, and no quest marker keeps telling me, "Hey, you'd better go to the other side of the map just to pick up a rock."

Planet scanning and the like. Extremely tedious, boring, and easily my least favourite part of ME2. ME3 was just maddening. Blindly scanning random parts of space for no other reason than that I, as a player, know there are resources increasing my EMS somewhere... And if I were Shepard, I'd find the guy who implemented the scanning technology that attracts the Reapers while being in use and... well, it wouldn't be nice. I have nothing against the idea of galaxy scanning as such, but I don't think either ME2 or ME3 did it in a way that was entertaining.

Multiplayer influencing the singleplayer in any way. I call bullshit. Those should be two separate things.

Invisible stats on weapons and armours. Numbers, please. I want to know what I'm doing.

Having no map during missions. If you want to include a pointer, sure, but don't take away the map. In my opinion, maps are very important. It can be very frustrating to play an area that has samey environment everywhere and few landmarks. Especially for the first time. The pointer shows me the target in the straight line... in a place like the Shadow Broker's ship, that tells me crap about which areas I've already explored and which I missed, etc. Liara even trolls me by telling me she downloaded the layout of the ship. Care to share that, Liara?

Auto-dialogue. This is a roleplaying game. I don't ever want the game to decide for me again that e.g. my character is going to react negatively and rudely to an offer without my input in this or that particular dialogue. That should be my choice. Especially if the reaction is not neutral. With that goes auto-dialogue that makes the protag look incompetent. Shepard randomly asking "Why?" to stuff she should know, for example. If the player needs explanation, make it immersive. Have the protag explain it, just like Shepard explains the tension with the Terminus at the beginning of ME1, or let the NPC explain it on their own.

I'm sure I'll remember a bunch of other things ten minutes from now, but this is what currently sticks out.

Started up a ME3 run. Immediate things I hated again:

1) Military portrayed as a bunch of immature school kids. James defying orders, Shepard defying orders, the Committee putting up with Shepard when they outrank him and should send his insubordinate ass to the brig-- it feels unbelievable and juvenile. James continues to argue with his superior officer, and Ashley/Kaidan stop their CO mid-mission to question their loyalties. People were always a bit too informal in ME, but ME3 leaps headfirst off the high dive into an empty pool.

2) Shepard is an auto-dialogue schizo. At least in ME1 or ME2, if he did some crazy about-face, you made him do that. I regret ever having a renegade or paragon Shepard, because autodialogue Shepard is none of the dignity of a paragon and none of the courage of a renegade. In ME1 and ME2, the paragon is honor-bound and determined to help, even to a fault (letting the Rachni survive at the risk of another galactic war). In ME3, Shepard is petty and obnoxious; the Turian counselor tells him of an opportunity that may help him, and Shepard's response is "what's in it for me"? In ME1 and ME2, the renegade casually murders people in brutal ways ("You're working too hard!") and gleefully decks reporters he doesn't like; in ME3, he has time to boo-hoo about a single war death while hundreds of others are dying per second. It's just plain silly.

3) The setpieces are nonsense. The entire intro sequence feels overwrought as all hell. The exploding dreadnaught makes no sense -- with how large and far away it is for the shockwave to reach with significant force, that explosion would have needed to be powerful enough to easily level all the nearby buildings. The inability of the Reapers to target the SR2 is a constant puzzler -- I'm sure they have technology enough to detect electromagnetic radiation in the visible range. Sitting in one place wasting ammunition on the wall behind you so that the exit will spawn gets terribly transparent and boring. Vancouver is basically like a snippet of MoH: Warfighter.

4) Diana Allers.

5) Far too much convenience in finding old personnel this time. Joker, Chakwas, Tali, and Garrus were picked by TIM because he wanted competent people Shepard would trust. Finding Liara was meh, and Kaidan/Ashley was too much of a coincidence, but at least some of it made sense. In ME3, Anderson just happens to be there at the time of the attack, Kaidan/Ashley just happens to be there as well, Joker and company just happen to be readily available at that moment, Liara just happens to be on the moon after having an important position as Shadow Broker, Shepard basically just happens on Garrus on Menae... ugh.

I haven't even gotten to the parts of the game that really irked me, like the shoddy justification and method for invading the whole Citadel, the Geth-want-to-be-a-real-boy Rannoch, the plot armor Kai Leng, and... well, everything from the second you set foot on Thessia.

^ I don't remember Dorian in the slightest so I have no idea if he applies. But the PSA complaint isn't supposed about adding gays. Though it seems to be misused a lot.

It's about being preachy. It's fine to have characters espouse views but if it comes across as the game designers preaching their views to you it's irritating even when you agree with them. It's as much fun as people knocking on your door on a Saturday morning to tell you about the lord.

I have to agree its why I stopped watching certain tv shows that used to be funny. Just put the (Insert) in but don't give me the idea that you deserve praise for "raising awareness"

Nothing to do with Dorian btw excellent character, very funny and I thoroughly enjoyed the contribution his character makes to inquisition.

So... giving male protagonists the options of gays is PSA while female protagonists receiving the attention from more women is more preferable and isn't preaching anything except "all women are bisexual" and lesbianism only exist for the visual pleasure of straight male gamers?

Traynor romance ftw

I don't want to see the red/blue renegade/paragon simplified morality system. I do not want to see a morality play in space. I want an adult drama. Instead, let us make decisions independent of such a system, and make the decisions give us influence with factions or some such other non-simple system. I also want real risk, I want my decisions to really matter. Mass Effect 2 had this in spades, culminating in the suicide mission. Mass Effect 3 was a huge step back in that regard.

I also really hope that the MMO-esque collection and crafting that exists in DA:I is not replicated in ME:A.

I do not want meaningless DLC.

I don't want meaningless filler content - example empty planets that only have things to collect for the MMO-type collection system that I referred to above.

Garrus or any new character that the game assumes is your best friend even though he clearly isn't.

Reapers/Reaper knockoffs

Another Normandy

Cerberus

Endings that are way too similar

Endings that depend on the choice you make at the end and nothing else

Romance choices that are limited to tough hetero, timid hetero and gay

Planets that looks waaay too similar to 50 others.

Planets with as much explorable area as my apartments

Planets with wast expenses of nothing (not even flora or fauna)

A minigame that's used for everything from extracting minerals to hacking computers (like in Mass Effect I)

Be wary, as we do not have the full context of said messages. While concerning, if say taken from a discussion of possible traits of villains, said conversation takes a decided turn.

Reapers destroying the galaxy.....we're done with the Reapers throughout whole 3 games now,so let it be done! And I really don't want to see zombies...My dear God we're living in a zombie world now, zombies in gaming and zombies in movies...BioWare is beyond zombies, far far beyond!

Well you say that, but the guy is plainly a quite witty troll having fun pulling people's legs, assuming that isn't a parody account.

I mean the sheer lulz alone of what appears to be a pale skinned Indian man talking about racism and people being forced to listen to the voice of patriarchal authority should set alarm bells ringing, even if you are not from India. ;)

You know what I really don't want? A game that was designed by committee, refined through focus groups, and in general plays with a safe formula in order to please the most amount of people.

What I do want is a game where I can feel like "okay, this game has a heart and soul."  Those are the games I remember.

Depends on the scale of dislike. He's just a massive racist, but it's vs whites especially white males so he gets to disguise it as being progressive. So he falls in my whateve category. Roman Polanski got a kid drunk and tried to take advantage of her, she turned him down he plied her with drugs still got turned down and then forcibly raped her. His movies I won't watch.

I DON'T want boring exploration with a slow vehicle nor do I want that vehicle to feel less safe than fighting on foot. Thresher Maws ate the Mako for lunch but when I stepped outside of that piece of trash I made it taste more lead than a house built in the 1940's.

I DON'T want to see Quarians still wearing masks. Even if their bodies needed protection, why the **** are their faces obscured. I HATED this with Tali.

I DON'T want a disjointed story that feels like they've decided to wing it 3 hours into the sequel. Please plan ahead with this one, Bioware.

I DON'T want Ryder to be the be all end all with races and characters everywhere riding his **** like he was Steph Curry to younger NBA fans. Give us some build as to why he's the best as opposed to Shepard, who in any mission is able to accomplish more with two others than a whole platoon of turians or CSEC. I want other characters to not be bafoons. I don't just want Ryder to be a good SOLDIER, I want him to be a damn good WARRIOR.

Lastly, take our classes into consideration with cutscenes more, like with the Omega and Citadel DLCs. Watching a Vanguard rifle butt a glass while Jack rolls her eyes and casually shockwaves it always makes me shake my head.
