I think it's safe to say that Bioware proved the ARKCON theory. But now that i think about the trailer, in fact the trailers, more deeply now, i think i said one thing wrong in my video. I don't think it's a sequel. It has to be a side story. It's probably happening during the events of the Reaper invasion, or maybe just after the Arrival DLC. Probably someone, a team, a huge team worked together to create or somehow reconfigure that super portal that we saw in one of the images that Bioware showed. And they created this 'Ark'. Otherwise, i don't see the point of going through that much effort just to go to another galaxy, if the reaper threat is done. Why go to another galaxy when you can stay in yours? Goddamnit, i'm loving this already. Speculation has begun. Can't wait to get my hands on this game when it comes out.

They could have left during or just before the Reaper invasion but reaching another galaxy could take them centuries even with a more advanced FTL. So when they left it's initially happening at the same time but then chronologically takes place afterwards.

It just means that this "ark" is completely unaffected by the events of your possible playthrough but is still happening in that same universe and timeline.

i think......maybe.....they took the refusal ending as cannon. That would explain Liara's message.

That's like you're asking why go to the moon when you can stay on Earth? :D

Because some people always explore, want to make new discoveries, strive for the impossible. Shep's words kind of say that too in the trailer, "We are travelers, constantly moving forward."

But no, I'm assuming too that the ark leaves during the Reaper war or probably even slightly before because Shepard also says those people leave because of fear what would happen if they don't, and what you say about a side story rather than a sequel makes sense when thinking about the state of the galaxy. At this point of time, there were no 3 options what could've happened to the galaxy yet, only the Reaper threat being still present. That makes it easy for the devs to not address the endings. It also ties in with the fact that's it's playing long away from Shepard's story (likely the years it takes to travel there then).

So maybe we still hear some Reaper stories, and a reference to Shepard.

Gotta say, that Trailer got me quite excited how they will handle it, and also got me really sad to hear Shepard one more time. But damn if that wasn't a good one :)

I'm not sure that this trailer confirmed the arc theorie. There are too tittle aktuell ig stuff shown.

A thing that i noticed was the pure size and shape of the ship, it seemed much larger than the normandy. And his shape remind me of the citadel, and of the crucible, somehow mixed.

You don't see the citadel in earth orbit (Maybe she is on the other side of the earth from the perspectiv you see in the trailer). But there also no reapers around earth

So the "start" of this mission could be befor ME3 or after.

This ship is massive, seems like it's the biggest ship so far in ME world. The size indicates that it should really carry all the necessary for colonizing a new galaxy.

I think you're confusing ARKCON with the Ark theory. ARKCON has been confirmed for a while now, but we still don't know what exactly it is or what the name stands for.

Ark command presumably. Or Ark control. Something like that. Like mission control.

Arkon sends out. Before Priority:Earth

The team either goes into cryno for years (hundreds) or their children's children's children are the playable characters.

Meanwhile autopilot scans hundreds of planets in one cluster.

Light travels slow af compared to how far they are.
a bit before we initiate cryno, we see all the Relays explode.

Milky Way seems dead to the explores who have no way of knowing. But whatever actually happens is what we chose.

The Galaxy Relay is destroyed. We don't know how to rebuild it yet so we don't. Explorers are stranded.

They wake from Cryno or whatever, and begin exploring planets the ship discovered.

They discover something huge but idk what and the game begins.

My theory so far.

How can you tell? I didn't see it beside anything that would give us a sense of scale.

Could be an ark, but doesn't necessarily mean we fled. We could have won, converted Reaper teach to our advantage to go on a new mission. Could have been commissioned before ME1, ME2, or ME3.

It looks like it left before the events of ME3. When the ship is leaving with Earth in the background, Earth is not burning like it is when seen in ME3

I noticed that as well. I wonder if it really means anything, or if it's just there for a cinematic purpose.

Also, the favicon of the Mass Effect website has become the Pathfinder Initative logo.

(By the way, my guess for ARKCON is Andromedea Reconnaissance, Knowledge-gathering and Colonization OperatioN)

Or Ark Contigency, both work

Maybe, but I'm not sure how much of this trailer should be taken literally.

I doubt they took any ending as canon. I think they're leaving that open to interpretation and the supposed "Ark" started it's journey before the reaper events happened.

But then again, why would they create an Ark kind of spaceship?

I'd caution against taking everything seen here as verbatim, aye. It was a very stylized presentation.

Definitely stylized with lotsa sybloic imaginery, but I'm not expecting a wormhole travel after they showed the Ark slowly cruising to Andromeda in this trailer

And when? It would take years, if not decades, to build such a gigantic ship. Technology would also be inferior compared to what we've seen in the trilogy.

And why would the Earth government invite aliens to join them?

Until more information is given when the ship left, I will stick with it leaving before the events of ME3

How do you explain the M40 (Mako?) from the E3 trailer?

To explore a whole new galaxy? It doesn`t need a acut threat like the reapers to make explorations... Prestige, Wealth, intellectual curiosity. When they have the necessary technic.

The Tec is what let my think that this whole arc project is starting after the ME3 ending... Where they have the crucible engine as energy supplier for new kind of drive engine which allows them to travel across the galaxys. In both trailers they show space travel jumps which get over great distance whitout any mass relays. The ship in the new trailer look like it had a crucible similar part in its core. But how will that work with the different endings? That's the challenge for bioware.

Prorotype? Improved by first generation of Andromeda conolizers? If this left after ME3 I would expect much higher number. Making an Ark during time of mass rebuild doesn't sound logical
