Ammo priming seems simple on the face of it. For example, disruptor ammo has a chance of triggering which improves for each level of ammo.

But if I use a scorpion, it always triggers if the shot lands on the target. Which is not a chance. So primes 100%.

So my question are how is ammo priming chance calculated?
What makes a weapon always prime?
And
What weapons always prime?

This topic deserves some Venom love.

It's tied to RoF, the formula should be around somewhere in the sticky thread, I'm sure.

For disruptors, it's ties with RoF, as explained already. Higher RoF weapons prime better (I think?). Projectile weapons always prime, I thinkm

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around, though GPR seems to prime pretty reliably for me anyway.

Well each bullet of a low rof weapon has a higher chance of priming, but as it s low rof ... I ll try to find the formula

well, i havent found more than prob to prime for TB with DA is prortional to 1/RoF per bullet. I d like to see the formula though, cause if its flat prob per sec, well... I gues captn is my best bet

100% is a chance.  Scorpion does not necessarily have a 100% chance with all levels of ammo though.

Prime_Chance = Ammo_Rating / (Adjusted_ROF / 60)

Adjusted_ROF is the stat rate of fire, potentially modified by number of pellets for shotguns basically.

Ammo_Rating for Disruptor is as follows:

I - 1.0

II - 1.4

III - 1.8

IV - 2.0 or 2.2 (I guess I will go back and look it up)

Scorpion has a stat ROF of 80, so with Disruptor 1 it only has a 75% chance.

So based on that, lower ROF weapons have a higher chance of priming per shot than high ROF weapons, right?

But then it s still a flat prob per second. I guess it makes a difference when u have RoF close to one sec though or very small mag.

Ok, we should compute the expected mean time for priming for each weapon then ;D

Why not go with my useful and quite accurate estimate for this mean time: Just a bit too long.

Not all the ammos have a stat in game saying the ammo rating like disruptor does.

Ie explosive ammo and incendiary don't have a rating stated.

Do they follow the same ratings as disruptor? Or can you pull the stats from the ini files?

explosive ammo don't prime.

incendiary ammo always primes if it hits beyond shields/barriers.

According to Deerber, who was wrong in the present thread but let's ignore it, incendiary rounds always prime on health and armor, but at different speed, depending on their level (IR4 prime faster than IR1, in other words).

Ok how often does explosive ammo trigger?

Well just test them with a rapid firing weapon ?

My guess wld be around 3s

Lol. As I mentioned, I wasn't sure about what I said of disruptor ammo. I'm pretty sure about incendiaries. Go test it, if you want. Won't take long :)

You know the funny part ? I'm pretty sure you said multiple times that low RoF weapons primed better. You're getting old, Deeber ! :P

I think you're right about incendiary.

Yes. Yes, most definitely XD

Although it's more like I'm slowly forgetting all the knowledge I had about this game. Which is a good thing, if you ask me. Gotta free that drive space! ;)

Does talon has a modified rate too cause pellets too ?

Well  it, DA IV is above 1 and at 0.26 with 6*RoF (75 per minutes)

Incendiary Ammo has to do 30 burn damage before it primes.  It is not chance based.

IIRC no, it is only the shotgun class that is adjusted.

so u end with a prime chance per pellets for shotgun ?

Or does that make them really weak at priming. Well, it feels they prime quite well, so i m pretty sure it s pellets prob
