My understanding is that equipping multiple weight mods will always apply the correct penalties, even if they are on different guns. I have confirmed that it does happen with my Drell Assassin equipping the HVB mod on the Sniper Rifle - I used to use the ULM mod on the Acolyte secondary, but I took it off because it actually made getting the off host tactical cloak bug (the normal one, not the AIU one) much worse when using Recon Mine.

Equipping ULM on any weapon will always prevent the weight glitch, as far as I know.  In fact, I thought that equipping any DLC weapon (like the Acolyte) as a secondary will prevent the weight glitch, even if the weight-adding mod is put on a non-DLC primary weapon, but I'm only like 62% sure of that.

I don't know if using two weight-adding mods will have the same effect.

You can equip two extra weight mods on an original weapon and remove the weight.

My default melee Kroguard uses a Wraith with a HVB and Omni blade and I have no problem removing the weight

Very few - it's not really a convenient window of opportunity.

It's super convenient for me.  Y button->RT->LB or RB.  You actually have time to mash the button too.  I can get multiple shots off on some automatics and still hit overload or whatever power I have.

Would the Crusader be an exception? I didn't seem to be able to avoid HVB/Omniblade applying both penalties.

Huh.  Well if it was ever bugged that's news to me.  AIU Raider on PS3 was the first kit I took to plat, and I remember 3 clipping banshees rather consistently off host.  Don't think that would have been possible if the damage bonus was bugged (then again, it was a 3-shot raider  B) ).  Protocol was typically cloak > sf > clip > clip > cloak > clip.
