Everyone seem to take Solas' claim to have created the Veil in stride...  In fact I think he himself likes to think that it was his own accomplishment; he is, after all, one arrogant bastard!  Yet considering the fact that the foci, which was intended to be the prime tool underpinning his plan, took millennia to recharge - I find it it difficult to believe he had enough power, even back then, to achieve this alone.

What if what ended up creating the Veil was in fact intended to allow the Evanuris to ascend to godhood?  What if he somehow disrupted/perverted that 'master spell', turning it against its creators?  That sounds exactly like the kind of deception the 'Trickster' would pull...  In which case he would indeed need thousands of years of study, and a powerful magnifying artifact, to undo the damage he caused and reverse the process.

It is not inconceivable that he intends to use the Elluvian network as a base of operation and hiding place for his followers; being outside both the World and the Fade - I surmise it could survive the chaos that would follow the tearing down of the Veil.  Thus control of part of that labyrinth could become a primary objective of the next game(s).

And yet... and yet...  I keep thinking the man is driven by guilt and thus could easily be manipulated by someone else.  There's a reason Flemmeth/Mythal keeps reappearing in every game.  What if she was behind it all, from the beginning?  What could be her motivation then?

Maybe Flemmeth/Mythal knows what the end game will be. Flemmeth didn't give her power to Solas without knowing what will happen next. Whether she will be on his side or on Thedas' side is a mystery.

I believe he may have used Mythal's tools or the spells he learned from her to increase his powers to create the Veil.
