Why doesn't anyone understand what the Genophage does? It's not making the Krogan go extinct. It reduces their fertility rate to a less dangerous level. And the whole point of changing the setting to Andromeda is to get away from the repercussions of ME3.
Eh it wasn't designed as a sterility plague but the net effect of it, combined with krogan nature, WAS that the krogan were a dying race. Til the changes they started to show by mass two anyway.

Brief answer is none!
However, a Krogan is confirmed and a Salarian is "in the cards". Also the Asari as a high probability.
If this is a human only or mainly human only expedition, the planners did the following (imo):
1. Get some Krogans to boost the military arm, As an incentive the females were allowed into the mix.
2. Get the salarians to boost the tech arm. As an incentive the females were added to the mix.
3. No need for Turians as the Krogans will do the job.
4. Get the Asari to boost biotics. They breed with anyone so it's also an incentive for them to escape to another galaxy.
5. No other races necessary or even needed.
So, my answer is:
1, Krogan as a tank
2. Salarian for the tech
3. Asari for the biotics

Who says humanity was the only group to send a arc? We see a krogan and know one is a party member. Do you honestly believe humanity willingly took a krogan with them? I find that hard to believe. Every race was probably in on this arc program.

That's been my assumption. If it traces back to one species who kickstarted the endeavor, my money's on the Asari.

All the Council races join together for this Ark project to the Andromeda galaxy. Hence, it makes sense that you get a representative/squadmate from each of the Council races (Asari, Salarian, Turian & Human). Don't forget that there may be advisors or crew members present on the ship that are important but not squadmates per se (think Traynor, Joker, Engineer, EDI-clone as the ship, etc.) The advisor or commander of your player character is important too. Remember that Anderson was on the ship and your commander at the start of ME1. Don't expect to start as the leading, top rank.
This way they can still fill the "race" slots and represent the Milky Way species fairly. Now add a new race or two and a maybe minor races from Milky Way as crew members.
I also thought about Kirrahe and Aethyta in Andromeda. However, this would be way too good to be true. Need to keep a connection to the ME universe with people we met as Shepard, but need "new" party members. These 2 are highly popular and fit the slots well. If Bioware, gives us 1 of these 2, I would be happy.

I would like to see a female turian and a krogan of either sex. I would also like to see a Drell soldier of some kind -- more tough and crass than we've experienced so far. Any kind of Salarian is welcome and Asari are a given. I would love to see a Prothean again, but the odds are low. However, I want to see a new Geth squadmmate partnered with a Quarian,

I want a Rachni, a Pyjak (of the miniature giant space variety), a Varren, and the single surviving Space Cow. (I ran over the rest in ME2 with the Hammerhead.)

I loved that thing. I hate ugly faced spider people who should all be cleansed by vorcha fire, but I loved exploding head heavy melee goodness.

My ideal squad composition would be a human, an asari, a turian, a krogan, and then two Andromeda race characters. For the seventh spot, maybe another human, a quarian, or even a volus.

Krogan warlord, can be a vangard or sentinel
Turian cabal vangard

I'm expecting an Asari, Turian, Quarian, Salarian and Krogan either as companions or support crew (and I don't really mind).
I'm not a big fan of Drell and I don't really see a particular reason for another Drell companion since they're not one of the big races (sure they could concoct a reason for another Drell joining us but.... meh). And I'd prefer to see the big races leave Batarians and Vorcha behind. They were very minor races in ME, I don't see a reason to have them in MEA too. Also I think it would be more interesting for the council races to save their own skins (and bring other allied races that they need) and not just bring everyone along out of the goodness of their hearts.

Salarian and a Biotic God (Volus).
Wonder if I'd be comparing the Salarian to Mordin or not.
