What design/development decisions would put you off the game?

For myself I've stated numerous times that a similar trollstore will kill my interest. I already won't prepurchase until I find out.

***

What design/development decisions are you hoping for?

I would love to have customization in kits. Instead of having one kit that has set powers I'd love to have...

[Race] which determines passives, and secondary/tertiary statistics. (Like Volus Roll/Asari Slide/etc)

[Class] Determines the area of powers you can draw from.

And perhaps some sort of [Specialization] of some sort. Turians wearing Armiger Armour, Asari age. (Matron, Maiden, etc boosting power dmg/duration or something)

I love having a lot of options and customization to play around with. I acknowledge it's a balancing hell though.

You?

Create-a-Kit might sound like a lot of work, but really so would be the 60+ individual Kits that we have now.  I am fine with either one, though Create-a-Kit would be more interesting.

Don't get your hopes up about the store, though.  Microtransactions are going to be in pretty much every A-list game from now until forever, and RNG progression encourages microtransactions.

If the RNG store is a go and the netcode is garbage not going to bother with it. I honestly feel like the success of ME3 MP is probably a one time thing anyway and EA/Bioware will just progress to more ways to **** it up the next go around.

I expect some variation of it, but a clone I just won't put my free time into. There's already a lot of competition out there, in a year there'll be more. In two years I'll probably get sucked into the black-hole of Star Citizen since basically everyone I know is already in that ridiculous 4000+ member guild.

At this stage of the game I think I have more unplayed games on steam than I do played now. I'm starting to put my money a bit more strategically towards the games and ideals I want to support. That was one of the biggest reasons I went over to Firefall originally, it was touted as the best F2P system out there, with a hard line against P2W. Shame the game's a failure but oh well.

RNG doesn't bother me..It never did..I love playing too much

Create-a-character could easily work..take the SP campaign for example w Bonus Power...Just take a blank character...let them choose 3 powers..spec as you want... EA's Titanfall is a perfect example of create-a-kit..very easy to customize there...

I just want a bigger variety of modes...NO PVP ...double or triple the maps

Pay-to-win isn't going any where..it will become a part of the new ME:A MP no matter what we want...

I don't know what will put me off, probably lots of things.

But I know of one thing that will supersede all the others and make me preorder MEA (and the only thing that will).

BIOVAR CLAYMORE DUAL WIELDING FOR MEA PLSSSSS!!!!

What puts me off: getting targets and/or devices in solos.

What I'm hoping for: Balanced objective waves for solos. For example devices activate quicker when you are alone, or you only have to kill 2 targets.

In the lines I will not cross, I don't think I will have the patience to deal twice with the same store system.

For those I will jump over, I'm all for the possibility to create our own kit, with some restrictions though (no krogan infiltrator, Bioware please). But as you said, it's a balancing hell...

I will also need a significant amount of innovations regarding the gameplay mechanics to get really interested. If that's just new maps and a few new powers and guns, I will probably not be involved as much as I was in ME3 MP.

Things like a Volus being better at tanking than Krogan are a laughable balancing fail (Kroguard is the exception). Running and taking cover do NOT need to be mapped to the same button again. That has led to some very frustrating moments (and a handful of deaths). I'm hoping that Bioware doesn't regress from ME3 MP to ME:A MP. Take what you did well and fine tune it while correcting the mistakes made.

Oh and make Tactical Cloak......tactical? Bonus damage for flanking enemies. It doesn't scream tactical to me that I can cloak directly in front of an enemy and get a huge damage spike instead of catching the enemy unaware which would actually be "tactical".

To add to what I said earlier, plus just thought about it...some type of match-making system that will not allow, say brand new players to jump up to difficulties they do not belong at...I will take my PS3 manifest for example..just because I am an N7 80 with 11 hours played.., doesn't mean I should be able to jump into Platinum to leech off of more experienced players, simply because I feel like it.

I concur on the character customization (and the difficulty in balancing such a scheme), this could potentially be really cool. Improved netcode is also high on the list. I´d also like to see the balance of powers and guns moved towards the former, the powers are a major point that distinguish the game from most classical shooters.

Paramount for me will be how it actually feels to play it, though. The best features will not save it if the gameplay doesn´t flow well. This flow was the main thing that ME3MP did really deliver on exceptionally well for me, so I hope they can keep it going  :).

Test Squad = Best Squad!  Captain Richard is a good friend of mine.

I don't know if that's the guild though because I don't keep up with Star Citizen.

I will cross all lines, deserts, minefields, Bermuda Triangle, you name it I will cross it, just to play the gold version of Mass Effect: Andromeda right now if it was possible. 1 year is too far away.

A lot can happen in that 1 year:

- Huge Asteroid/Comet could hit the earth

- Actual Alien invasion

- World War 3

- Zombie Apocalypse

- I could die a horrible death (this would be particularly bad way to die)

You?

Pretty much suggested these ideas many times over

-Pick race

-Pick gender

-Pick class rightfully available to the race (Quarians can be infiltrators, engineers, soldiers. Cannot be adepts, vanguard)

-Pick powers fitting of the race/class combination (infiltrators are obligated to pick tactical cloak, or something similarly fitting. Has freedom to pick other fitting powers such as overload, energy drain, recon mine, most grenades. Can pick from optional race specific powers, such as tactical scan being quarian-only, while hunter mode is geth-exclusive)

PS: aesthetic armor sets for races also. We all know quarians have more enviro-suits than just that one to wear into battle.

Create-a-Kit might sound like a lot of work, but really so would be the 60+ individual Kits that we have now.  I am fine with either one, though Create-a-Kit would be more interesting.

Only as long as people like the bunch of teet-sucking halo 5 fanboys who blindly support a similar system (but worse in many ways) in their game.

I'll try the hardest difficulty first just to get a feel for it. If it can be solod then I'd try that too just for the hell of it.. Finishing it isn't even the goal. It's just for the feels

I'm not sure that relates entirely to the question. I'm sure you have a devoted youtube followership that expects you to epeen your way through the hardest difficulties and you have to cater their needs, but what would be in the game that would make you literally not buy it? Anything at all?

PVP would probably be the line that I wouldn't cross. If that was just one mode that they had in it I would just avoid playing it, but if was only PVP, nope. I just hope it is more ME3MP and not DAIMP.

I actually started out hating anything pvp. Vehemently.

Of all things WoW turned that around. Took a few years but eventually I got that itch. Still need to scratch it every once in a while. Helped that me and my roommates got into a good group of people that had some hilarious times together. Arguably the best online gaming times I've had. Mind you getting 10-15 PvPers is worse than herding cats. =/ When it works though, it works well.

I'm not sure how MEPvP would work, as anything pvp has to be balanced perfectly or it's just a shltshow. And the mass effect team probably doesn't have the experience to make PvP viable.

I'd give it a try, but I doubt it'll ever happen in the next iteration or few of Mass Effect.

Interesting that that's a line someone wouldn't cross. For a good portion of my early gaming life I would've agreed with you 110%.

PvP is the most fun I have ever had playing online, as long as it is done well.

I sincerely doubt that Bioware could do it well, though SWToR PvP was surprisingly fun.

I guess it depends whether you find dying to ruin your fun.  In PvP, no matter how good you are, there will be times when you die.  If that ruins the fun for you, then PvP is not for you.  If you can brush it off and find fun in your team doing well in spite of an incidental death, then PvP becomes a lot more entertaining.

One time I drew pretty much the entire enemy team to the left side Voidstar door.  Of course I died, but not before my own team capped the right side door with no opposition.  I was cackling like a madmad as they killed me because I knew that death was actually a key victory.

TL;DR don't take dying personally, it happens to everyone in PvP.

A promotion based end game, an even worse RNG trollstore, power damage dependent on weapon stats, regions locked matchmaking and various other weird design decisions from DAI would definitely be deal breakers for me.

One thing I'd love to see is more teamwork options in Andromeda. Maybe even bring back the way things were in ME2 where different powers and weapons had strengths and weaknesses against different defences. Basically less 'one size fits all' and more specialized best tools for the job.

Never played DAI, got enough, er, "osmosis" to know the MP side of things probably isn't for me. All of those things sound wonderful. Never even finished Origins actually. Despite three separate attempts. >.<
