I see the reasons people like the RNG store reiterated but those reasons don't hold a candle to why I hate it.
Generally the reasons for liking go something along the lines of forcing players to try new things and limits them from instantly getting the OP weapons.
Well... first off. Decent balancing would negate the latter half of the argument, and the former is just plain bad. I don't need to be forced to try new things and if a game designer feels the need to force me to, they're doing it wrong. If I like the game enough, and it's balanced right, trust me. Eventually I'm going to want to try everything anyways. And the people that want their AIU's and X-Reegars? They'll get em one way or another. It doesn't stop any of the reasoning I've seen to implement an RNG store, instead it just detracts from those that it obstructs. The only reason I can see to have a trollstore is to try and bilk people out of money in a marketing gamble. And if that's the case I'll gladly not spend a dime at all and bypass ME:A altogether.
I don't mind a little RNG, but for my part I often get a build/concept I want to try in my head. That idea is something I want to work towards, within a reasonable timeframe. The Lancer, CSMG, and PPR were some of the last weapons for me to reach X with. In the case of the Lancer it was one of the last weapons I got period, let alone to max. There were numerous times I had a build and I wanted to try those weapons on em. Preferably at X because all of those weapons benefit the most from upgrades comparable to other weapons due to magazine mechanics. I would've spent a premium in credits to obtain those weapons faster and felt more accomplished because of it that spending 760 hours to finally do it.
This is entertainment, and I expect to get my cake and eat it too. Ultimately the game in and of itself is what I enjoyed. The gameplay. Not the N7 or CP, but just playing it. There were a few times where I didn't credit for matches/w10 dc'd and got rightfully frustrated, almost to the point of putting the game away altogether. But I realized that just playing the game itself was what I enjoyed. If I didn't get the credits at the end of the match oh well, I can live with that so long as it was a good match.
Trollstore was just an impediment to that.
