mostly by Bethesda fanbois attempting to defend their atrocious garbage collection simulator from the what is the obvious and undeniable truth: they are playing a game in which you primarily perform an activity that is used as a punishment for prison inmates IRL.

In fact, being required to play a certain number of hours of FO4 should be introduced into judicial systems as capital punishment. The death penalty and life Imprisonment clearly aren't enough of a deterrent. The only roadblock is that it might exceed the standard for cruel and unusual in some states and municipalities. It's that bad.

Fanatism does not equal truth.

I had preordered the game. Having played FO3 and NV, I took the plunge. I hoped it would have a plot that was deeper than the game I had been playing, Destiny, but sadly as far as I'm in the game I am sorry to say that is not the case. I still don't know what is going on except that my character's kid is missing. Too many things don't add up...

Spoiler

The game looks horrible. This is a next gen console. It looks as bad as DA:I did on the 360. Characters still walk like they have sticks up their asses. Characters general movement is terrible and so 2007. Gestures look about as convincing as GTA3 did. The premise of the story is not working.

I like that they went to the voiced protagonist, and the non-VATs combat is a little smoother. But the game is full of glitches. See a stimpack? Press X to pick up a stimpack and it moves the stimpack. No, you have to tap X to pick it up. Nice if you're in a fight.

Fortunately the modding community is available for the XBox One now, and we'll wait for some modder to fix Bethesda's mess and upload it for the community. Perhaps a high def mod to bring it up to 2012 level graphics and something to fix things when dogmeat gets stuck in a door or elevator. And you should be able to rename the dog. Dogmeat? Really?

Yes, Bioware can learn something from this - don't make a game like this.

Did you pay attention at all to the game? Because it really seems you did not if you're that confused over what happen in the prologue.

FO4s main quest line and cast is faaaar better then FO3 and almost on par with 1,2 and NV.

I just hope Bioware looks at FO4 when it comes to hair, because DAI was a disgrace to hair.

Errr, I dispute that. It only starts to pick up at the Memory Lany mission for me. Certainly not as well written as New Vegas by any means.

I heard that it has 4 different endings, so that's nice at least, we're not forced into hugging the whitewashed BoS. But unless the writing significantly improves during the second half, it isn't on the level of New Vegas or FO1 and 2.

I never said it was as well written as NV, I said it was almost on par. Act 1 was your typical Bethesda main quest, but act 2 was great and act 3 takes faction focus from NV and improves it. Also there are companions like Cait, MacCreedy(who is faaaar better then in FO3) and Valentine who are great.

Whitewashed or not, I'm pretty sure New Vegas showed us that the DC chapter's on the right track.

Maxsons chapter removed all the issues NV chapter and other west coast chapters where suffering from while still focusing on tech. Whatever someone agrees and likes the ****** is whoever up to them.

I heard about that. Did the Outcasts come back into the fold? I'm hoping at least some of what Lyons preached stuck, though.

Certainly the Lyons chapter was more successful than the Mojave chapter. But as a character Lyons is as boring as they come. From what I heard of Maxson he's much closer to the philosophy of peace through superior firepower embraced by the Midwestern chapter (the one from Tactics), which happens to be my favorite version of the Brotherhood.

I'm probably going to join the Brotherhood anyway. The Institute sound like a bunch of ivory tower-dwelling jerks, the Railroad is a stupid concept, and the Minuteman couldn't hold their own against mid-level mercenary mooks, and thus are lame.

Bethesda has also failed, so far at least, to provide me with a convincing reason not to side with the guys rocking Power Armor, laser guns, Vertibirds, and a big stonking airship.

To be fair...the Minutemen have become a force to be recokned with when you retake their castle....

Thats all I have to say about that for now.

Because the Institute is better. HAIL PRAGMATIC EVIL SCIENCE!

Anyways my core reason? They want to wipe out all ghouls, synths and super mutants. Valentine and many ghouls like Hancock are too cool to die. So I blow them up.

Yes he brought them back in. The only thing he still kept from Lyons is allowing wastelanders to join, having established trade with communities and sometimes helping  people. Overall his focus is collecting technology and wiping out all synths as he hates AI.

I haven't gotten the game yet, but have been watching some of it on youtube. Looks ok. I might wait until the price is reduced to get the game. Of course I have to get myself a ps4 first to play the game. Maybe Black Friday will have a good deal

I talked to a friend about this.

It's a change in gameplay mechanics to make Power Armor much more unique overall. It's like Thermal clips basically, so it's one of those things that would be argumentative for a more fluid lore in-game.

I understand but wouldn't it have made better sense to keep power armor as an end game gear like it was in the past games? I really don't see the sense in giving the player basically, the best type of armor in the game within the first hour except to feel cool.

You won't even be able to use that power armor for awhile until oyu find a good supply of fusion cores and considering how powerful the power armor is and how it DOES feel like you're wearing high tech armor it had to be balanced. Just add a 1000 fusion cores via console command if you want to rock the game in only power armor.

This is Bethesda we're talking about. Their previous games have had passable writing at best. Fallout 4 is probably their best written game so far, but they have some ways to go before they're on Obsidian's level.

Racist douchenozzels who treat the Commonwealth and its people as occupied territory to be exploited, if not outright executed, isn't good enough? Considering that one of the first things you can do for/as the Brotherhood once they arrive is to go around to the very settlements you set up and shake them down for food without pay, and the ominous foreshadowings for the non-feral ghoul and non-malevolent synths, and there's a couple reasons right there. And that's not even asking what your actual goal/perspective is.

Cool thing about the 'find your kid' route is that the factions offer their own justifications for siding with them. The Brotherhood promises to smash them, but still has to find them and is going to get other people caught up. The minutemen is about community organizing and getting people to help people- great not only for appealing to the likes of Piper and Nick, but for building a better wasteland afterwards. Both the Institute and the Railroad are their own justification- you need into the instittue to get your son, and they're the ones with the means to get there.

Man I agree I simply LOVE the Brotherhood in Fallout4. I wasn't very impressed by the game till I reached their ship and became a Knight. The power armor mechanics as a things you have to repair and upgrade constantly is something I think BW should look into it. It makes you really care for your equipment. I constantly return to the ship to check my armors, weapons and to do repairs. It makes you care about loot and materials because you want to keep your gears in a combat ready status.

I just don't like the Minutemens....feels like a bunch of pathetic losers plus I found the settlement building part a real CHORE. The Institue are mad scientists and the Railroad are good heart bleeding liberals.

The only gameplay minus is that you can't craft ammunitions or fusion core so you have to pay attention in how you use things.

Funny thing about "Imagination" is that it's a skill - and most people just plain suck at it.

Fallout 4 is amazing - I'm so glad some of you don't write stories professionally.

Basically yes.

It can also get a bit weird how I can make a high-tech mod for my laser rifle out of a toy car. Somehow. Or how my fresh out of the Vault PC knows how to modify all those post-apocalyptic guns and even Power Armor to some extent with no training at all.

That's one of my biggest problems.

How does my character, who was a housewife with a law degree, and who just woke up after being frozen for 200 years, suddenly know how to mod power armor?
