The problem with your argument is the key fact this said content was 99% finished. That is why it blew up in LucasArts face because the whole thing comes off as them wanting to make a quick buck and that attitude is not liked at all.

There's a word for someone's who's made it 99% of the way to having sex, and that word is 'virgin.'

Similarly, there's a word for content that is 99% finished come the deadline, and that word is unfinished. Or incomplete. Or late- take your pick.

But see, we don't know the contract like we do with NV so now we are getting into massive what ifs. All we do have is LucasARts had a very bad deadline for a crpg, Obsidian had to rush the game and was not allowed to patch the game. That's the only facts and majority of gamers WILL be on Obsidians side because what they want is a good game, they don't care about the business end.

You seem to throw words like *massive* and *majority* around an awful lot.

Grafting, settlements, and character creation. Other then that, Bio can't learn anything from Bethseda. Bethseda has, awesome lore, graphics, and interesting exploration, but when it comes to story telling. They suck more than a porn star, during a 20+ orgy.

I really, really hope that Bioware doesn't decide to focus on the exploration gimmick when it comes to Andromeda. It works for Bethesda games where you can honestly ignore the main quest and just shoot or slash your way through the world without a care, but Bioware's main strength has already been companion characters even in their worst games and moving away from that just so you can add a couple more hours of content to your game is not a trade off I want to see. I mean seriously, its been almost a year after the release of Inquisition and nobody is talking about the Storm Coast or Western Approach, but rather Solas and all the other companions.

Remember. Quality or quantity, Bioware.

I'm using words that fit. It is a massive what if and if what that link says is true then management on both sides screwed up, but the people making the game(which are not management and thus no say in contracts) had no clue and thus where making a game with the new deadline in mind. So yes the game was rushed for its Christmas launch as the game was not even close to being done. More people will side more on the devs sides then the publisher, more so when its a publisher like LucasArts as they had a horrible reputation.

Dunno if it's still a thing with Obs, but they've been known for consistently releasing buggy unfinished products and then people blame publisher deadlines to defend them, but after a certain number of times you have to suspect the company is just bad at time/resource management in general.

Really, who picks up a Bethesda game expecting it to not have bugs and glitches?

I liked how Dogmeat grabed the molerat, flew 30 meters into the air with it, mangled it, crashed down and took falling damage.

It was quite a sight.

It´s not a bug. It´s a feature.

A WTF?-Feature. :)

Well games like Fallout and Skyrim are massive so it's hard to release them without some bugs. You know what's funny? I've only encountered two bugs in Fallout 4 and I've already completed the game once.

I've had some surprisingly luck with the Fallout series when it comes to bugs in that I've only seem to have had bad one and that was the constant crashing of Fallout 3.

It's nice to have a follower like Paladin Danse who works part-time as a roof inspector and can check the Sanctuary settlement's roofs. Now we know the workshop building can safely hold a guy in power armor.

@Shechinah: Absolutly.

What I like most about Paladin ... Dense... are his viewblocking abbilities.

He loves shouting "You won´t pass!"(or something like that) towards the enemy, then he stands in front of me, blocks my entire view and robs me of all the joy I get from sniping people´s heads off.

But sure, he is a great roof inspector.

I just wish he could have dealt with the two headed cow that appeared in my bedroom out of nowhere. I don´t even know if it´s still there or if it starved. I wonder what it was hiding from...

Hell... Bethesda is a mess. :)

Same, I've been lucky too. Fallout 4 does crash for me sometimes and there are fixes for it but I never bothered to look it up. I'm still waiting for the next patch though.

When are the mods going to come to the console versions? Also are we going to only see Bethesda approved content for us Xbox/PS4 players, or are we going to get full access to user generated content?

Paladin Danse makes for a wonderful shield when he pulls his "You won't pass" shtick and is not blocking the view of the player character; I once wound up in a very memorable fight where he moved to stand in a large doorway in front of me. This wound up shielding me from three mutants, one of which had a minigun, and allowed me to snipe them while Danse got what would have been entire clips emptied at him.

It sounded brutal but that only made it even more awesome and heartwarming since not only did he not move, his move to shield me and stay was on his own initiative. That whole encounter remains one of my most memorable moments when it comes to followers and a favorite.

In my game, he loves to say; "Dosen't it feel good to be part of something as great as the Brotherhood?" which gives away to some very amusing bits since he does it even when he is not the active follower and as long as my player character is in the vicinity;

I once walked by him in a market I'd set up in one of the settlements while he was facing a vendor and it gave the impression he was talking to the vendor in question so I got this impression that he says this to everyone. What made it all the more amusing was that not only was this vendor a ghoul but his shop was a restaurant.

Ghoul Vendor: "Here's your noodles!"

Paladin Danse: "Dosen't it feel good to be a part of something as great as the Brotherhood?"

Ghoul Vendor: "Uh, you know we are an independant settlement that just know a settlement that got a supply route going with the brotherhood-"

*Restaurant vendor gets elbowed by the medical vendor*

Ghoul Doctor (whisper): "Just smile and nod to the guy in power armor!"

Ghoul Vendor: "Uh, sure, feels... great!"

*Paladin Danse leaves and goes to nearest table*

Paladin Danse: "Dosen't it feel good to be a part of something as great as the Brotherhood?"

Deacon: "Totally!"

*Nick Valentine tips his hat down to try and hide his face*

Nick Valentine: "It's, uh, definitely something"

It's nice to see Danse can see the importance in all manners of contribution to the community and that he got over his bigotry towards ghouls.

Of course, then there is the image of Paladin Danse in his power armor sitting down at one of the tables with umbrellas and small chairs to eat his noodles.

Bonus:

*Strong walks by the table where Paladin Danse, Deacon and Nick Valentine are sitting*

Paladin Danse: "Was that a super mutant?"

Deacon: "Nah, he's got like this skin condition and this..."

Nick Valentine: "Talks a bit funny too"

Deacon: "Yeah, you know, speech impediment from that fight he had with like three deathclaws while scaling down a raider-infested building with a rich merchant dau-"

*Nick Valentine elbowes Deacon*

Nick Valentine: "Too many rattles to the head is what he is dawdling on about"

Deacon: "We don't usually talk about it, tends to draw attention and make the big guy feel bad"

Paladin Danse: "Oh, I understand. It's is commendable how well he takes it. It speaks well of this community as well to not oust others simply because of differences and difficulties."

Nick Valentine: "Like you wouldn't believe."

*Strong makes one of his cannibalism comments, Paladin Danse is shocked, Nick Valentine facepalms and Deacon opens his mouth and then closes it"

Deacon: "Yeah, that may be too much even for me to spin."

Alternatively;

Deacon: "Okay, so funny story..."

I am kind of annoyed that Danse is less antagonistic to Nick Valentine, Hancock and Deacon for other reasons...

Although I got to a point in the game where my prediction that Danse is hiding something not only came true, but it was quite ironic and a bit stale in terms of making sense, but I did call it so i'm happy.

I believe what you are referring to is likely what I've called as well. I unexpectedly and completely unintentionally wound up putting the puzzle pieces together much to my annoyance since I'd have liked to experience that massive spoiler blindly. Thanks, brain, way to be perceptive, clever and ruin my fun!

I suppose it is still better to figure it out for myself than to be spoiled on it since today I accidentally caught one word on Paladin Danse's Wikipedia page when it popped up on the Google search page while I was looking for something else.

A fair warning; If you've yet to see all there is to the followers and would like to experience it for youself, avoid the wikipedia pages for the followers like the plague because all it potentially takes is one word to spoil a huge thing about them.

That's like saying Arkham Knight wasn't broken on PC because you only found two bugs in your machine.

Back before Fallout 4 launched, when I wasn't even following the developing on that game, I saw an article about how you can romance anyone regardless of gender. I thought to myself "yay another big company FINALLY decided to catch up to Bioware and join the 21st century".

Now I have my problems with Bioware and occasionally, playing their games I find myself very frustrated (mostly due to the bugs), but, they are still THE major company out there in terms of gay visibility and representation and that means I will always support them (aka buying their games).

Anyway, as I was saying, I was happy to see more companies making progress, so I immediately pre-ordered the game (Fallout 4 that is). I later saw a preview of the character creator, but against reason I hoped I was wrong. Then the game launched. And I found this:

  • main character is str8 (unlike the 2 Fallout 3 games where you can basically select your chars orientation) - married to opposite sex partner and with a child - you can't go around it since they removed the "Confirmed Bachelor" (and another one) perk which was a nice way of role playing a gay character in Fallout 3 and NV - so basically you can select how you look and that's it, everything else is pre-determined which is not what they advertised
  • as a male character, if you "flirt" with the available male npcs, you get a very nice overdose of "MY WIFE" every 5 seconds of conversation - I was watching a 10 minute romance vid on youtube a few days ago, and with a few exceptions, every single line of dialogue from the npc had "my wife" in it - in the last 1 line "conversation" they were suddenly in love... yes, I'm really impressed, quality dialogue and gay representation there
  • "romance" doesn't ammount to much really if it's just a copy paste of the hetero version (switching pronouns here and there) - I thought they knew that from how "well" received the "romance" in Skyrim has been... apparently not

To sum it up, they hyped the gay rep in game and basically lied about customizing your character and then underdelivered. I regret pre-ordering, my bad there for believing they are intelligent enough to do it right - won't make that mistake again with that company (as a side note, I actually might have bought Fallout 4 if they had been upfront about this, despite all the heteronormativity crap, but as it stands I just feel angry I pre-ordered and wish I hadn't). Bioware did this too occasionally, but eh, there's a big fkn gap between Bioware and any other major company out there in terms of gay visibility and representation (obviously I mean a big gap in Bioware's favor), so it's a lot easier to forgive the occasional slip.

Now to get to the topic itself, I do hope Bioware learns from Fallout 4 how NOT to make a game in 2015 (or '16). I certainly learned from F4 not to pre-order ANYTHING, unless it's from Bioware lol, because yeah, unless they go the idiot route and str8-wash ME4, I will absolutely pre-order ME4 :)

Heh.

I don't know I figured something was up with Danse.

Deacon is a huge liar too ive found.

Cait annoys me.

Nick, Piper, Hancock, Codsworth and MaCready are pretty much the best companions id say right now.

https://forums.obsid...rieving-mother/

More on that on obsidian forums, but it was originally supposed to feature a mind dungeon minigame of sorts in their characterization (the thing about core gameplay from Sawyer becomes relevant there) that aren't in the game.

Huh.  Interesting.

I knew there was something missing about Grieving Mother.  I found her backstory rather unsatisfying in the end, and now it's clear stuff was cut from it.

Durance is still cool, despite the changes made though.  But that would have definitely added something.

I like bethesdas stories. To me it's the difference between reading a book or seeing a movie. Both can tell great stories but it's just delivered in different ways. Bethesda stories are books bioware stories are movies.

Yeah, I've spoiled myself here, and I'm glad I did. Would've sucked much more if I'd have made Danse my standard companion only to find out... . Now "he" can rot at the Prydwen.  Goodness, you just have to expect crap like this when Blade Runner fans are writing another Pinocchio story.
