Heh.

I don't know I figured something was up with Danse.

Deacon is a huge liar too ive found.

Cait annoys me.

Nick, Piper, Hancock, Codsworth and MaCready are pretty much the best companions id say right now.

I just stuck with dogmeat in the end, he doesn't have opinions on stuff yet his AI behaves like an actual dog kinda would, he wanders around and explores on his own yet makes sure to keep up with the player properly for gameplay, he's adorable.

Even barks and leads me to caches of hidden items he finds that I didn't notice sometimes.

I kinda want a dog companion now, although I imagine it would work less well with the dialogue intensive style of Bioware.

Lone Wanderer perk also works with Dogmeat as a companion.

DAO had a dog companion.

If you stick a teddy bear in his inventory, sometimes when he's idling he plays with it.

Forget about my stupid kid. Bury my heart with Dogmeat.

Seems there has been quite a few leaks already which is not surprising considering how many early review copies they have been throwing around to every Tom, Dick and Harry with a mildly popular youtube channel, also more than a few stores breaking the street date as well. Seems to be quite a few negative impressions ranging from gripes about framerate to the sub par graphics (something that was evident from the initial reveal) and horrible animations as well as a number of weird glitches and AI quirks, all in all I would say it is par for the course for a Bethesda game so I do have to wonder with so many other games going open world and doing things far better are people finally seeing Bethesda games for what they are?

Also it seems the ending has been revealed, if I actually had faith in Bethesda's storytelling ability I might have taken further precautions to avoid spoiling it, but since I don't I just went ahead and peeked, kind of regret it as it sounds like an interesting twist but I am sure Beth will **** up the presentation somehow so I don't feel too bad about it.

Thing I am most interested in is the settlements but unfortunately most of the leaks I have read have been pretty vague on the topic.

Anyway with the game less than a day away I am sure more will be revealed so what can Bioware and ME:A learn from Fallout 4?

It might give them bad ideas about dumbing down the dialouge options and roleplaying aspects in general. Inquisition could have stood on its own but they just had to go for Skyrim making the game a fetch quest/mmo collection fest. I hope they wont learn anyting from Bethesda ever again.

I like bethesdas stories. To me it's the difference between reading a book or seeing a movie. Both can tell great stories but it's just delivered in different ways. Bethesda stories are books bioware stories are movies.

If you mean a six page children's book, with characters that are lifeless as hell. Sure. If you mean a Lord of The Rings or Game of Thrones book. Where you actually care if a character good or bad, lives or dies. Then you missed the dart board. Your examples are kinda backwards. Movies are short, going usually from 1-4 hours. Like Bethseda's stories. Books can take 4-6, if not more hours to read. Depends on the size really. If you like Bethseda's way of telling stories, that's fine. I love Bethseda games, not because of their stories, but because they have interesting lore. Bioware vs. Bethseda are equal when it comes to lore. Making RP a fun experience for those who do RP as their characters. However, story wise, or interesting characters? Bioware just seems to do it better. Fallout 4 is a great step in the right direction but story still needs an adjustment.

Dogmeat can go die in a fire. He has to be the most retarded dog I've ever encountered in a video game, seriously, how did Bethesda manage to make the companions even dumber? He constantly ruins my stealth and almost always causes hindrance when in interiors and always running ahead and attacking enemies before I can spot them, he's just a general pest. Dogmeat is good for two things, getting enemies to gangbang him so I can throw explosives at them and carry my junk, beyond that he is a worthless mongrel. The day someone makes a mod that allows me to blast Dogmeat's head and limbs off is the day I will give $100 to a stranger(probably not though).

I disagree. Bethesda characters are just as deep and interesting as bioware characters. It's just not delivered in a fancy cinematic cut scene. And Bethesda stories are just as good if not better than most bioware stories.

How to be a bad game.

Fallout 4 is just...NOT FUN. I wouldn't call it bad, but I'd say it's boring and massively overhyped.

Personally, I'm past the point of tracking games before release. I can't say there's been a time where it helped my impression of the final product, rather than hurt it.

I'd like to see ME:A have a radio/comms device. I'd prefer listening on the radio/comms announcements to get 'eaves drop quests' than just standing behind a conversation between two people awkwardly on the Citadel like in Mass Effect 3. I'm not sure what type of music you could put on it. Classical would be easy to justify, but anything else might be weird or out of place. I also have no idea how a radio would work in terms of the scale of space, but if TIM can project a hologram across the galaxy I'm sure my PC can get some Beethoven or Vivaldi radio on his earpiece/comms system.

I'd be more excited if they learn something from CD Projekt Red and The Witcher 3. Particularly how to make awesome, engaging and superbly written side quests that doesn't feel like side quests at all. There are plenty of those in TW3.

Agreed, look at Destiny and other similar games that have come out but ultimately disappointed people. Although, the only games I'm probably going to track/keep an eye on are Andromeda and Kingdom Hearts 3.

I'm having a lot of fun with Fallout 4 in spite of the bugs, I really like how much customization there is in the weapons/armor/bases/followers, gives all the junk collecting a second layer of purpose. That said the UI is pretty bad, it can be confusing managing items and weight burden is really something games should give up trying to do. Also finding companions when you're not using them can be a serious chore, sometimes they get lost too. I'm happy with how much work Bethesda put into quests and cutscenes, i'm sure it isn't as top notch as New Vegas but it's a big improvement over 3. I think what Bioware could take from 4 is just the overall customization which I know they're already implementing into ME:A, they could probably improve on those ideas with better UI and more clear purpose for building bases though.

Welcome to the world of AAA gaming.

I blame the fans moreso than the game.

Who is hyping it, after all? All Bethesda did was show it off and people shat the bed with excitement.

More on that on obsidian forums, but it was originally supposed to feature a mind dungeon minigame of sorts in their characterization (the thing about core gameplay from Sawyer becomes relevant there) that aren't in the game.

I don't like Sawyer's stance on that.

First, he explicitly favours gamist design. He wants the core gameplay to be fun first, and he'll happily sacrifice the narrative or the simulation to do it.

Second, classic RPGs had weird little minigames in them all the time. Questron had skeet shooting. Ultima I had this weird spaceflight sim. And then BioWare put minigames in KotOR and Jade Empire.

Sawyer's slavish adherence to his "core gameplay" ideals makes his games worse.

According to Steam's internal numbers and Steam Spy, a service that pulls information from Steam's web API, "Fallout 4" had 1.2 million PC owners on the platform in just one day of availability.

Crosses fingers knowing ME:A will triple this.

Technically they wil get 0 of that as they wont be on steam. But to your actual point they will be happy if they get 1/2 that. Bioware titles just don't have the same draw as Bethesda games in sales.

Yes. It doesn't come close to The Witcher 3. Still, a good game. I'm replaying it right now, after 1,550 hours with TW3 (almost 6 mo non stop) while I wait for the next TW3 Blood&Wine DLC. =) I must say though that armors in DAI are the ugliest thing I've ever seeing in a game!

And some people don't like to RP Geralt, one of the most awesome characters, specially for a game. (this is just the end of one of hundreds side quests, all done with the same care and devotion) It is also a reference to Leliana calling Sten a Softie.

I hope you aren't serious. I can't even name a Bethesda character let alone tell you anything about them. There is no Bethesda version of Minsc, Bastila, Mordin, Morrigan and so forth. They build ciphers that act as pack mules, really stupid pack mules. Their NPCs are even worse.

It is an automated chore list in a lot of ways. I have to credit Bethesda with being able to take the faction ideas of Obsidian and make them boring.
