Why should Bioware or for that matter Bethesda have to learn anything from each other.  Copy succesfull ideas, maybe, but what was the ingredient that made it succesfull?

I don't like Fallout series so no even if ME:A  is exploration related I hope it is story heavy that is Bioware's signature I like  and expect from them.

Bioware and Bethesda have a completely different way of designing stories, so...I doubt there's much that can be applied from Bethesda stories.

I expect the backlash for this one to be pretty wild.

Oh, you mean like waking up as a prisoner and being told you're the savior of the world?

Yeah, they'd never do that.

Do you get to name your child? From what I have seen it will always be called Shaun, does the appearance of the parents effect the appearance of the son?

Bit disappointed Gladiator isn't on the list of names.

I believe the name and gender of the child is always set but the appearance supposedly changes to resemble that of the parents in some regard. This is why some people suspect the kid is going to feature more than a little bit since it seems odd otherwise to do more than change the child's skin color due to them being a baby and all.

I suspect my headcanon will be that either the player character or the spouse retain some sort of firstname veto right to exercise to prevent the unconventional naming choices of the other to haunt their son in his life.

I consider it to be neat that you can design both your player character and your spouse: It's adds a nice bit of variation than had one always had a set appearance. It also provides a visual explaination as to why a player character may not have the social views expected of someone from their time in regards to non-caucasian people. It's part of the reason I'm planning on making my first spouse chinese though chinese-american may be the actual term.

Hey, at least in Inquisition you got something of a backstory and identity. It was subpar, but at least it was there.

And...that's the only similarity that exists. So, hush.

DAI, BioWare's best game of the 21st century, and one of only two genuinely good BioWare titles since KotOR.

if i had anymore sick time for the year i'd be able to respond to this shortly after 12am, but unfortunately i work tonight. So i wont be able to play until 8am or shortly after... however it seems Bethesda is learning from BioWare with their dialog branches, as well as voice acting being integrated into the main game.

Maybe they'll adept the modding system from Fallout 4 though to be honest i was okay with ME3 modding system as well, if you can call it that. Though in story mode having to find the same weapon and mod over and over again through multiple playthroughs in order to level it up seems a tad repetitive if not boring.

Also im more of a realist, i dont expect Fallout 4 to become super awesome until after the creation kit comes out and people can mod the hell out of the game. With Skyrim i first got it for ps3 and it was nearly unplayable if not incredibly meh after the novelty wore off, it wouldn't be until some time after i got a gaming PC that was pretty powerful for the time, that I got the game again long after the modding community started modding the hell out of the game that I discovered how much fun the game could truly be, as well as pretty. I'm expecting the same thing from Fallout 4.

Truthfully, I rather not downgrade Bioware anymore than they already have. I had to force myself to finish Oblivion and I couldn't care enough about Skyrim to go past the first few towns.

Bioware's strengths are what I like. Bethesda's weaknesses bore me to hell and back. They took a big steamer on Fallout, I rather Bioware at least keep at the stories well enough so I'm entertained.

What Bio can learn from DA:I and Fallout 4 is to avoid those horrendous load times.

Unfortunately, this won't happen with high resolution texture files.

I think I am justified in waiting a year to play Fallout 4.

I had to force myself to finish Oblivion

Playing to finish sort of misses the point of a TES game.

I have over 500 hours in Skyrim, and I haven't "finished it", though I have completed my narrative on two characters.

No one actually cares so you didn't need justification one way or another.

If BW learns anything from FO4 I hope it's how to make a TPS (or FPS, idc). Not that frankenstein's monster chop job they had throughout all of ME1-3 where they couldn't seem to make a fluid, intuitive shooter from an engine built for shooters.

From what I've read and seen with regards to Fallout 4... All I can say is: Nothing. Bioware have nothing good to learn from Fallout 4 :/.

Maybe let them make their own game. For me they shouldn't learn anything from fallout because it's different type of game. Bioware makes story driven games and fallout or skyrim is more about exploring and doing repetitive side quests.

They did make pretty good RPG combat, though, which Bethesda has never managed.

And?

Moreso an observation in the end.

How is the combat in Fallout 4, I have yet to see videos of it in action. Is it really much more fluid than Mass Effect 2?

I've stuck to melee combat. I'm hoarding bullets. But melee is more fluid than mass effect melee but that's saying nothing.

After playing F4 for ~7 hours: hopefully nothing. Well, maybe weapon/armor modding, that looks cool. Also Codsworth and Dogmeat.
Mostly Dogmeat.

As much as people knock on their stories I have to say the opening hours have grabbed me more than any other game I'm played in a long time. The opening sequence was powerful IMO. A bit less blank slate than I prefer and I'm sure all the hardcore me is single never have kids types who post here about it will dislike a forced family but it was a good story hook for me.( who identifies as single, never going to have kids but just not militant about it like some of the posters here)

I'm only 5-6 hours in but I do like it quite a bit.

Had one game breaking glitch where I'd freeze when using consoles/computers but once I turned vsync off on my graphics card it worked.

Eh I'm a "me is single, don't want kids" type, and I don't mind the idea of playing a family man.  Gives me an opportunity to try something different.

Still have to wait for my copy to be delivered though

Yeah I know there are people like you and me here on this issue. Just a commentary on the reaction to a thread a few weeks back where a family man/woman protagonist was suggested for MEA.
