Anyone excited to see what Bioware and ME:A can learn from Fallout 4?

Maybe let them make their own game. For me they shouldn't learn anything from fallout because it's different type of game. Bioware makes story driven games and fallout or skyrim is more about exploring and doing repetitive side quests.

Like ME3 and Inquisition?

What I hope is that seeing that Bethesda tried to emulate some of Bioware's stuff this will give Bioware enough confidence in their own model to stop trying emulating everything around and ending up doing neither very well.

Preach.

Spending hours creating your characters face in an rpg is a universal constant. Whenever I play a rpg for the first time it usually takes me at least an hour or so before I'm satisfied. Same is true for others even if the character creator is a shoddy mess.

I'm downloading Fallout 4 right now, and I fully expect to spend roughly 2-3 hours or so getting my char "just right".

I take forever on the character creator. The only reason I would be quick is if the options are few, sort of like Destiny's pick a face hair and colors, or if I'm just creating a junk character that I intend to use to mess around with the game. Inquisition has a terrific character creator. It just needs some motherflippin' hair.

Means nothing, really.

My guess is it's a reaction to the bugs (which everyone is talking about) and the changes in the dialogue/delivery of dialogue.

There are two undeniable facts of life. The PC score on metacritic is always the lowest, and the PC version is always the buggiest at launch. Especially when it comes to Bethesda games.

How to release a broken *** game and get 9s/10s across the board. Also how to use assets from your old engine and pass them off as new. I mean look at this garbage.

Word is its being review bombed by W3 fanboys. Metacritic can die a slow death as far as I'm concerned.

I like Fallout 4 so far. I've only encountered one bug though it is one that bothers me; the lock when lockpicking is invisible meaning if I want to try my hand at it I have to go by sound. Hopefully this will be fixed soon but until then, there seems to be forum fixes so I'll try those in the mean time.

The character creator is good, in my opinion, and I found it to be very easy to navigate and use. I spend quite a bit of time on it and could have easily spend more exploring the combinations.

Dogmeat is absolutely adorable as always: He now leaps around like an excited puppy and it is so energetic it is infectious! He sometimes runs a bit around in the vacinity of the player character but always seems to remain within distance. He is downright brutal in a fight when he gets a hold of a mob especially a mob his own size. So far, I've found that he can be equipped with a collar which will show up on his model. All in all, I like it but I think it may bother some players especially if they are worried about traps. I do not know yet if he knows how to dodge things like mines.

I've yet to try out Codsworth as a companion and to aquire any other companion so Dogmeat is the only one so far that I can talk about.

The dialogue wheel could really benefit from adopting similar trees to Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition in regards to optional questions, in my opinion, because it seems to follow a similar approach that Dragon Age: Origins did: Sometimes the question option continues the conversation and sometimes it does not. You seemingly have no indication of when an option will be the former or the latter. This I do not like and I would have preferred an investigation branch on the dialogue wheel like in the aforementioned games.

Metacritic user scores aren't to be taken seriously, when just about anyone can drop a review even if they haven't played the game, and thus opens up a lot of possibilities for trolling.

There's no doubt there's people going around with a stick up their arse about that game, judging by how due to the leaked early copies there were people going around sending spoilers to random commenters in PM's over at the fallout subreddit when no one had access to the game.

The Steam percentage is a better measurements for the reception among actual gamers.

I don't know how any user can review it so far.  Its a game meant to put bare minimum 40 hours into it and its been out a day? I've put 9 hours in so far and I've barely started. Its been a blast so far.  And I'm guessing my friends are having a good time as well as every one of them has been on it constantly since I got home from work.  As soon as the computer went on I saw X is playing fallout4.  If it was a 4.7 they would stop playing. Metacritic usually shakes out for games months down the line once the troll legion gets done putting 1 scores in too supposedly balance the high scores fans put in or whatever. Eventually enough actual people who played the game put up a review and the numbers balance out. Still given I have to work i've put a lot of time into it since release, and I'm no where near a point where I feel I could actually review it.

I messed up my nose it took me a good 15 minutes to figure out how to shrink the bridge down to relatively flat.  While it allows a great level of detail its not intuitive.  Like DAI its at my limit or beyond of artistic talent to pull off a decent face.  Luckily it does have a wide selection of preset features so for people like me who end up making things worse once I go artsy I can restart and cycle through the preset noses etc.

Out of curiousity; what button was the sarcastic and maybe option on the consoles because I assume they were also included in those versions of the game?

Tbh it seems to me that Bethesda is learning from BW. This is good. I don't wish BW to learn from them because they did a poor job with it, namely DA:I short story.

Ouch, that's brutal.  You always gotta take such things with a grain of salt, but damn I can't remember the last time I saw scores that low.

Oh basically all you need is an army of loyal fanboys ready to lynch anyone who gives the game less than a 9, that is usually enough to keep those pesky reviewers in line.

Seriously people don't really look at reviews for a honest assessment of the game's quality, the popularity of the reviewer is not based on whether or not they write an honest review but more whether or not they tell the person reading or watching the review what they want to hear, in the case of Fallout 4 the scores are given more in the name of self preservation than anything else.

I recall a few months ago someone was being all negative about MEA and was talking up how great Fallout 4 would be and I questioned the validity of the claims to compare one game that hadn't come out yet to another game that hadn't come out yet.

I don't think it's wise to have all these "What can Bioware learn from...." whatever it is they can learn from.

Bethesda is a gaming company that specializes in open-world sandbox games, something that Bioware isn't as good at, but Bethesda has always had problems with characters and story, something that Bioware excels at, and almost all of Bioware's games have got me emotionally invested in its characters and the story, whereas Bethesda's games have me going "well, I can be what I want to be...." but I'm not that invested in the characters.

I had more emotions from one side quest in Oblivion than I had for the entirety of its main campaign, and that was when I was in the Dark Brotherhood and killing those five people at the party while avoiding being discovered.

Bioware should stick to its strengths and not try to be too much like other games.

I don't mind exploration or quality side-content, but it shouldn't overshadow a Bioware game's strong points.

And the threshold for what's considered *broken* or *garbage* just keeps getting lower...

I'm honestly surprised; I've not seen anything so far that would make me think the game deserved such a low score but I suppose I'll see if that changes as I go on in the game.

Credit where it's due, BioWare did adequate with the open world aspect in Inquisition. It was uneven, but it was a good first attempt.

Bethesda, it seems, may be struggling with the story/character interaction a bit more...that is a tougher trick to pull off id say.
