What shapeshifting form corresponds to what section and what is the ideal order they should be obtained?

I just want to be done with Broken Circle as fast as I can.

Mod with Skip the Fade from Nexusmod to avoid the whole terrible experience. That's the best route in my mind.  :P

But if your adamant check the Dragon Age wiki and look up Broken Circle to find out.

I do darkspawn invasion (spirit), back to the start at weisshaupt to get a willpower boost, then Niall to get the willpower/dex boosts. Then burning tower (fire), then the mages (golem), then templar's nightmare. Then get whatever remaining points I need starting with darkspawn invasion again.

You're kind of going in two circles around the ring this way.

I understand skipping the fade.. it's tedious.

Be sure to keep checking back with that poor guy who is stuck in the fade. I feel sorry for him...he needs to know you care.  :(

The problem is that you have to visit each area twice and it takes forever.

I like how every time i check on Niall after completing a section or learning a new form he either stimulate with my progress or just keep whimpering and nagging, you can sense it in his tune and you know that the fade got him all confused.

Use the fire form one he's a hell of a runner. But i don't haste to finish the fade it's super awesome and have a wicked music that is convenient for observing the black city and.. you know speculating and come up with few theories or trying to spot the maker, back in the days i liked to think that the fade sun is the maker or his chosen place for dwelling where he look down on his first creation and his seconds's dreamers passing the time by manipulating their dreams and giving Leliana false visions or true for all i did know...yeeaah, proper place the fade is not to mention that the black city looks very similar to Damian's flying fortresses from the divinity franchise which is pretty cool.

First time I played through (my human male noble) I did not use a walkthrough and it was... Ugh.

Second time (human male mage) used a walkthrough and it was cake.

And yet that's the quickest way, afaik. Besides the mod.

If you're insufficient, then you'll be running around everywhere, scouring for points and not having the right Fade Form for a certain thing... then having to backtrack to get it..then going back :P

I don't know what the quickest form is to go through the fade.  I just know I like that part of the game. So much fun.

I don't remember the order but you do need to do it in a certain order for higher difficulties.  I think it's burning man first if you don't count the mouse.

What do you mean by higher difficulties?

The bloody fade sequence! I never used a mod for that... *sighs* Although I tried, I never modded any of my games to be honest. It's tedious crap, the fade part of DAO.

Well I know on easy and maybe normal you don't even have to use the forms to get through half of it. :)  And it doesn't matter as much which order you do.

The method mentioned near the beginning of the thread is probably better, but on my first playthrough I think my choices worked well. Burning Tower, and then keep working your way clockwise on the Raw Fade map. That works fine, and you only have to backtrack to one or two places.

It doesn't really matter, you're going to backtrack a **** ton and search behind every nook and cranny multiple times to make sure you grabbed every attribute bonus anyway, so start in any order you want.

Unless you use Skip the Fade, which is excellent.

Am I the only weirdo who doesn't mind it?

Keep in mind, I use the walkthrough on the wiki.

I don’t mind it, either. At least it’s something different. I far prefer it to the Deep Roads, which all look the same, feature tons of annoying, repetitious battles and seems never to end.

I understand the temptation of 'Skip the Fade' and even made my Companions compatible with Skip the Fade so that they would appear in the final fight with the Demon.  But I don't really mind the Fade.

For the Original Poster, I race through the first three sections to get the shapes, I don't do anything that isn't necessary to get the shapes.  Then I go back and really complete each section of the Fade to get attribute points.

As a benefit, the Fade & attribute points seem to be slightly bugged.  If your game starts lagging in the Fade, you can often hit the item that gives you the attribute point multiple times resulting in more than just one attribute point from the item.  Due to Murphy's law it seems like my rogue always gets this to work for Magic while my mage always gets this to work for some 'not magic' attribute point

I go through the fade every game. I use this guide by noz3r0. The guide has everything in it, You won't miss a codex or bonus points using it.
