So this is a thread for everyone who salvaged their valuable items by accident / deliberately.

I will start first:

To my greatest regret I salvaged all of my weapons below lv20 from my unique weapon collection back in patch 10 release.

Now my journey for complete unique weapon collection seems far and hopeless. I don't think I will ever see a second silkdart / cordova's smiler / winter's breath / axe of the dragon hunter in my life time  :crying:

I was like, oh they are only low level junks. Let's salvage them for fun. But oh no, wait, wtf in the name of RNGesus have I done to myself?

Well guess at the very least this will keep me playing DAIMP until I manage to complete my ultimate master collection  .

I know a friend who salvaged all of his hakkon for some reason... If I'm not mistaken he is still busy making up for that terrible mistake and grinding NM dragons even to this day.

RIP Hakkon.

It's a myth.

PS. Pretty sure we all salvaged an Audacity back in the day before the Duelist appeared. Except Snakebite. Had that thing out and was tearing it up day one. Was mad jealous.

Yup I salvaged mine too. Who would have thought a lv10 unique would come useful one day?

Reminds me of all the troll posts for Dragonracer.  "Oh hai, I salvaged my 237th superb HOK ring, you got one yet, hur hur hur."  At least that spawned the most fun I've had on this board, following the quest for the Superb HOK ring.

What is so special about duelist and audacity?  I was using it with duelist and silent sister and it was cool.   But I don't see why it would be better on the duelist?   I switched to using bloody bargain offhand since I like the speed.   It was so fast that I started watching the mini map instead of the screen because my eyes can't keep up and all the motion and I got dizzy.  (I get motion sickness easily that's why I can't play FPS games...)

Keep in mind bloody bargain wasn't always in the game.

Audacity was BIS for duelist offhand for a long while. All we had were the base weapons and the brand new Perilous dragon equipment when the Duelist came out, Dragonslayer.

Back in May, when the best dagger was the Dagger of the Dragon, and the highest difficulty was Perilous, the Audacity would enable a Duelist to instagib whole spawns instantly.  Most of the Duelist's abilities only factor in main-hand damage, so it just became about putting the dagger with the best proc in your off-hand.  An explosion that did 75% killing blow damage trumped

  • Walking Death (Walking Bomb proc)
  • Agony (Chain Lightning proc)
  • Wicked Grace (small amount of HoK and poison)
  • Gift of the Talons (3 hits of Hidden Blades)
  • Lady Jocasta's Revenge (1% HoH)
  • level 15 Nameless Blade (5% extra damage for nearby enemies)

It is also a dual-blade, so you could put a better grip on it that you could on a normal dagger.

I see.  I guess I am kind of spoiled.  I went from a blue dagger (109 damage) with Audacity... to Hakkon Mercy with Bloody Bargain in about 5 minutes.  Haddon Mercy in book 3 chest and Bloody Bargain in a commendation chest.   And then I got the Savage Thorn the next day or 2 in a store bought chest.  I still have not seen a NM dragon yet. :P

Weapon Progression up to end-game: "History of the ancient DAMPers"

I'm not going to include the Descent or 27's. Obviously, they were next up after what I list below.

Two-Handed:

Slayer + Sundering for a little while. Sort of stayed away from Two-Handed warriors until I pulled an Axe of the Dragon Hunter. Used the Axe until April when I pulled a Sulevin Blade. The best item in the game. It served me well until I finally got a Maul of the Dragon after 250 Perilous dragon kills. Hakkon's Valor replaced it.

One-Handed:

I used the Firm Tournament Axe for ages. Got a Moon Axe a little while after the Sulevin. Didn't get an upgrade until the Longsword of the Dragon. That was a huge upgrade. Never have gotten a level 23 Caliban...Hakkon's sword replaced it.

Daggers:

I was lucky with these, like I was with Two-Handers, Didn't really use Dagger rogues until I had an Agony. Shortly after that I received a Wicked Grace. Those were my go to's for a long long while. Dragon Dagger replaced them. Then Savage Thorn and Hakkon's Mercy. Didn't get a Blade of Red birth until after Hakkon.

Bow:

I think the Bow of Beresad was my first unique weapon. I used that for a while until I got an Elusive Ice Bow? High level blue. It was replaced by Cruel Redemption which I used even after getting Longbow of the Griffon, at least on the Archer. Hunter always used LBTG, but I didn't play the hunter until I got it. That was replaced by the Bow of the Dragon then the Heart-string Bow for about a day before I got the Hakkon bow. Didn't get a Punched by the Maker till after the Hakkon bow.

Staff:

Shoot, I pretty much exclusively played the AW and Elementalist while I had crap gear. I still don't have the Wanderer title. I used a high level gray for weeks. Then the Archon Fire Staff for a couple more. But, I got a Mindchill pretty early on. Shortly after getting the Mindchill all the other unique staffs dropped for me. I got the Deathward, Pyre of the Forgotten and Fury of the Veil within a month of getting Mindchill. Used all of them quite a bit. Those were replaced by Staff of the Dragon other than Deathward. That was an awesome staff. Then the Staff of Razikale for about a day before getting the Hakkon Staff.

i got both the level 13 and the 23 caliban's in the same box a month after i got bitter axe from a dragon then all the other weapons dropped aside form the 26/27 ones, i now have the hackon ls and 3 of 5 one handed 26/27 weapons, the bitter axe still is better on the templar thanks to wombo combo and even on the lego if you time the shield bash just right /

I savage every weapons below LVL 24. Except the ones I've used for a long time like firm tournament axe, longbow of the griffon, refined hossberg twainer, etc.

Also keep the most weird ones like boon of the spoon, and that 1h ham.

But i never use them anyway.

Sounds like a ghost story - that person is doomed to haunt the hallways of Ferelden Castle for the rest of eternity.
