I'm at the point in the game where all i really have left is some side quests that i have to finish up. But i noticed recently that Vivienne hasn't been able to use resurgance for awhile now. I know that ability takes up focus and thought maybe my focus just wasn't high enough but the rest of my party (Myself, Blackwall and Iron Bull) are still able to use our focus abilities.I even tried shutting down the use of our focus abilties thimking that maybe one of us were using our focus abilities  too much. But she still can't use resurgance. What am i missing?

First check the simple stuff: Is it in an active skill slot? Do you have at least one bar of focus charge? Do you have Trials enabled that zero out your focus bars if you visit camp?

If all that checks out, what happens when you try to use the skill? Are you in Tactical, Pause or normal action when you try it? Or are you asking why the AI doesn't use it when you are not controlling Viv?

Oh boy.

 

I'm not really one who knows much about gameplay tactics beyond setting up the characters with their basic abilities and playing so a lot of what you told me went right over my head. But i can try and help you figure out what i mean.

 

1. Isn't trials only useable if you have the trespasser dlc? If so, i don't have that dlc.

2. It is in an active slot.

3. I'm not sure about the focus bar. My characters aren't seeing much fighting anymore at this point so their health/mana/focus bars rarely show up.

4. It didn't matter if i was just standing around or in combat. Resurgnce was simply redded out.

 

I figured that i had accidentally used up my focus up with her by pressing the designated button that was assigned to resurgance too much. But it seemed like the focus never built back up.  That and i thought focus was built up as a group and then used individually? I took that as meaning that anytime someone used a focue ability it used up a portion of the groups overall focus? If tht's the case i couldn't figure out why everyone else could use their focus ability but not her? That being said, i turned on the game today and it seemed that Vivienne had the ability to use it again? EVen though i hadn't done anything since the last time i had the game on.

It sounds like you have the zero focus bug. Did Viv die at some point? If a character dies, they are supposed to lose all of their focus, but then can regain it after being revived. Sometimes, the "gain after being revived" part gets bugged and your character won't gain any focus any longer. Or you only gain to 1 bar and can't gain any more.

I believe doing a save and reload of the same save clears the problem, though I'm not 100% sure of that.
