Hi all. This took quite a bit of research to find each clip of every astronaut to put this together. (hours).

I wanted to see if the specific choices meant anything as I figured there had to be a reason why BioWare chose those specific clips for Astro/Cosmonauts in history.

By the way Alan Shepard, the first American in space, was not in this trailer. I think that was deliberate as he was one of the inspirations for our original Mass Effect trilogy Shepard. Not having him there made sense even though he should have been based on the specific types of real life historical moments in space.

Do you think there was a reason they were specifically chosen for the trailer or that they just wanted to pick a few good historical shots?

I think I'll go with the 'A few good historical shots' option and leaving before the ending of ME3. Also, I highly doubt that the green haze has anything to do with synthesis. It would be incredibly stupid move from BW, not to mention all the fans that it would anger, myself included. I absolutely despise both synthesis and control. Besides, the whole point was to completely move away from the horrid ending on ME3. It's just an aurora borealis or an airglow, which is more likely: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airglow

Other than that, nice vid.

I just saw the trailer.

Showing human ingenuity and dedication as far as us attempting space travel and exploration is great but why leave the Milky Way? Have we fully discovered everything there is here? Is there nothing left to explore here? No more mysteries?

Earth itself still contains many mysteries as do we as humans. I don't support the idea of exploring another galaxy when our own galaxy let alone our own solar system is still largely unexplored.

Andromeda is such a bad idea.

Wait, what was the topic again? Something about astronauts?

You know, I like sci-fi a lot but the more i've learned about space,v the more i've come to realize that any long term existence away from Earth is practically impossible. Space is a dream. Unless we develop some truly revolutionary new technology at some point we are stuck here on this planet which is completely at the mercy of an aging star.

Whatever. I'm just rambling. Don't mind me.

Yeah... I indicated in the vid that the green is just the aurora borealis too. I don't believe it relates to Synthesis ending at all either. I dont think it'd work either. It was the least attractive of the endings too.

Oh I agree, other than a sentient race of space machines that his destroying all life as we know it and hunting down all intelligent life to extinction, something they have done many times before.  Other than that tiny detail I see no reason why we should head to Andromeda.

Its was nice seeing the clips of the astronauts in the trailer. I remember watching Neil Armstrong walking on the moon in 1969.

I was surprised they didn't have Alan Shepard in it but I guess that's the point. He was one of the inspirations for the creation of Commander Shepard so it would make sense that he was left out to confirm even by omision that Shepard's story is over.

What's stopping these killer machines from following us to Andromeda?

We also don't know what time period this takes place in anyway and whether or not the Reapers were a known threat at the time or if they even exist in this new Mass Effect.

Good thing you aren't in charge of any space program anywhere, because thinking like that will most certainly cause us to never succeed in space travel. And if we dont leave this solar system, we will go extinct. Plain and simple.

Also, long term habitation in space is far from impossible. Incredibly difficult, yes. But not impossible.

The popular theory is that we're leaving shortly before or during ME3.

As to the reapers, they can't chase what they don't know exists.

Actually no. Invaderone denied that in the vid and I just agreed with that, plus added my own thoughts about it. No one said that, yeah, that's synthesis.

Well, aside from the astronauts, I did like how they include a shot of the Canadarm given the importance that has played in the International Space Station and because Bioware does have Canadian roots. Je suis Canadienne!

Thank you for this video, very interesting theories too.

Maybe I missed it, but what about a blast we see at the start of this trailer?

Something clearly goes wrong on a ship and considering all concept art where always some sort of ship wreckage showed... I'm speculating, of course, but maybe we will be in a second crew trying to reach Andromeda?

i agree.. but to have a reality check, i dont think we as a generation will experience truly travelling in space. or even living in a different planet! it will happen eventually, but not in the current state we're in. :)

Nope, that's just the launch exhaust from the Apollo 11 mission's Saturn V rocket.

Here you go.

I was wondering about the fire, as well. Didn't know that it was actually real footage. Thanks for the info. :)

We hardly know anything about this new Mass Effect. It could very well be a complete reboot of the series that has no Reapers.

I'm more disappointed by the complete lack of (specifically) Russians and everyone else who has contributed, including the acceptable Nazi Von Braun.

But yeah, go America etc.

Considering that idea would be one of the dumbest choices that Bioware could make, and considering that the leak is looking increasingly more spot-on, and considering that what we DO know about Andromeda indicates that it is most likely a sidequel, and considering that we exactly predicted the move to Andromeda two years ago based on assuming Bioware would want to avoid the ME3 endings...

...I am going to go ahead and say that it would be extraordinarily unlikely that they are rebooting the series.

As for Russians, at least Leonov was included, but there is way more who deserved to be mentioned, imo.

Yeah for example, the Russians had the first woman in space too. They had a lot of the firsts but then shortly America took most of the firsts a few years after but Russia...had a lot of the major firsts.
