Why would you want to preorder this game? Are you afraid that digital media is suddenly going to run out.

I don't expect preorders to start until E3.

To answer your question a lot of places are taking pre-orders now, but only for the regular edition, but I would expect something similar as Dragon Age: Inquisition a firm date around E3 2016 and shortly after that a collector's edition with a bunch of physical trinkets and a deluxe version with just the digital bonuses.
For myself if the launch is like Dragon Age: Inquisition, I will pre-order the game if the review embargo is a week before release and I decide that I want a digital copy so I can have it pre-loaded.

I do know that regardless I'm going to wait before I fire it up. Probably about a month or so, if not longer, before I get too wrapped up in the game. I'm avoiding reviews, and I'm going to keep an eye on the patch cycle.

I'm on the fence. I might if I go after the CE, otherwise I don't currently plan on preordering. I'm really gunshy after DA:I. That game has had some serious issues and I'm not playing again until the final patch release. It helps that ME:A will focus only on current gen consoles and PC.

I don't know what platform you play on, but with EA games on the PC I don't risk other people's opinions and play it for myself and if I don't like it I can return it.

I will just preorder the regular version. I preordered the deluxe edtion for Inquisition and wasn't impressed. $10 extra for stuff that wasn't useful at all

I'm going to wait until 1) I have seen a good round of opinions 2) it's been patched to buggery as it is guaranteed to be shite on pc to start with 3) I have seen just how much content has been removed to bonus! Dlc and what ridiculous price that will end up costing.
And even then I will probably wait for a sale as in have been very unimpressed with DA:I and comparing the product with other, newer games I am a cautious consumer - as everybody should be.

I'll see pre-orders going live sometime soon. But by E3 2016, we will know if there's a collectors edition or just a standard. Following a few of EA's more popular games, I can see there being 3 tiers. Standard, Deluxe, Collectors.

I just don't get this preordering mentality, I really don't.

I stopped pre-ordering for the longest time, but now I do if certain conditions are met. The review embargo is lifted before release and lengthy written reviews are available and its on a digital platform with a return policy. I personally don't trust "user reviews" for they seem to be too inconsistent for my personal tastes. Right now on Metacritic <shutters> Fallout 4 has a lower user score then Mass Effect 3, but that doesn't really tell me too much about the game or if the issues that people are experiencing with it.
